Luca’s pov
What is she doing here?
The shock was still yet to leave my body even as I made my way into the large, bubbling hall, knowing
that everyone’s eyes were currently on me.
Two of my three secretaries emerged in front of me, with some sort of lists in their holds. I nodded my
head at them and introduced them to Sofia, while noting internally that i really should have done this
before, like Sofia had pointed out.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Ricci.” They greeted at the same time and I watched as Sofia smiled at
them, while returning their respect politely.
I scanned the list which they had to run through me before carrying out, and I put my signature in the
required spot before handing it back to them.
“You don’t need to overwork yourselves today.” I found myself murmuring before they could leave my
presence and they stiffened for a moment.
“Really, boss?” One of the two young men asked and I gave a firm nod of my head.
“Yes, you don’t. You can relax yourselves and enjoy the evening, then continue to work tomorrow.” I
clarified, because I knew damn well that they all work really hard on a normal day. I glanced around for
a moment before focusing on them to ask. “Where’s the third one of you?”
My personal assistants were three in number. Two men and a woman, and now, the woman isn’t
present at the moment, and it’s only normal that I be curious.
“Oh, she’s taking care of something at the other side of the hall, would you like me to fetch her?”
I shook my head once, hands settling on the lower back of Sofia, gently urging her forward.
“No, of course not. Just, extend what I said to her as well about you all enjoying the evening.” I
explained and they all nodded their heads at once.
“Have a lovely evening, sir.” They echoed at the same time as we parted ways.
“Your staffs must love you so much, you take care of them so well.” Sofia murmured once we were out
of earshot, staring up at me with a soft smile on her face. I shook my head a little while chuckling.
“I don’t think so, bunny.”
Before Sofia could say something else, a few managers from some of the other branches of this
company here in Italy all slowly came forward, with their respectful dates, and we all had to exchange
polite introductions while trying to make a little conversation.
While that was going on, my eyes wandered around the hall and it didn’t take long for me to notice
Lola, and once again, I felt the anger begin to boil in the middle of my chest.
I couldn’t believe that Lola still had the audacity to show up here tonight. The audacity to show up
anywhere I’d be present in.
Does she really want to force me to bring the big guns out?
One thing I noticed after a few moments, was that she wasn’t alone tonight.
She had a date with her, who was delivering a kiss to the side of her cheeks, and when they both
turned around in my direction, I noticed at once that the person whom she had with her, was the son of
the owner of the company who’s competing with my own company.
The audacity of this fucking girl.
“Hey man!” A familiar voice echoed from behind me and I turned around to regard James from head to
toe, instantly noticing that he was without a date.
“You’re without a date.” I pointed out and he arched a brow at me as he spoke. “Why, thank you for NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
being so damn attentive to details tonight.”
“You fucker.” I snorted out and we both laughed a little, and then he handed me one of the two drinks
he had on him, already knowing that I wouldn’t be accepting a drink from any other person tonight.
“Hello Mrs. Ricci, you look very gorgeous tonight.” James gushed, accepting Sofia’s hand to brush a
kiss against it.
Sofia giggled a little as she gently chided. “I’ve told you to call me Sofia a hundred times.”
“I remember, I just didn’t want to be rude.” He defended himself and Sofia waved it off. “It wouldn’t be
rude because I asked you to.”
After a few moments, I excused myself, leaving Sofia with James because there were a few things I
needed to take care of, a speech I have to go through once again, which I’d be giving by the end of
tonight, and some really important people whom James had invited in my name, I’d have to go
welcome them in person.
As I did all of that, I couldn’t help but wish Travis and his bubbly wife, Kayla could have made it tonight,
because if that had happened, Kayla would have been able to keep Sofia company perfectly until I was
done with handling all these things which I’d rather not do right now.
It took about thirty minutes for me to be done, and when I returned back to Sofia, I met her engaging in
a conversation with none other than Lola, both laughing like some sort of old friends, and that grated on
my nerves so damn much.
I interrupted them and pointedly ignored Lola after giving her a tense nod and a glare filled with
daggers, and then I whisked Sofia off to the dance floor before she could get another word out.
As we danced, I held her really close, loving the feeling of her head against my pecs and also using the
medium to try to make up for the dance which I derived from her on the night of her art exhibition’s
success celebration, and I made that known to her, but she held my cheeks and reassured me that she
was over it, making me remind myself for the hundredth time that I was undeserving of her.
As we danced, I knew pictures of us were being taken at different intervals, and that we were
undoubtedly going to make the headlines of the media tomorrow morning.
