Chapter 9- Steven
Chapter 9- Steven
“I am going home.” Amara said out of nowhere.
She can’t go home now. The effect of the mess her mate made is still raw at the moment. She might
die from that. Cassidy will talk her out of it I guess.
“I know.” Cassidy said shocking the hell out of me.
Is she insane? Why isn’t she telling her that she can’t go?
“Where is Aaron?” Amara asked.
“Work.” I replied with gritted teeth.
That son of a bitch is going on and about his daily life like nothing happened to his best friend.
Sometimes I wonder if he even cares about her.
“Cassidy can I go to my home town tomorrow?” Amara asked.
“Off course.” Cassidy replied smiling. “Do you mind if we come with you?”
“What?” I shouted out of surprise.
What the hell?
“Not you Steven. Just me and Grayson. You can’t go there. I would like a little vacation and it will be
better if you have doctors with you. I mean you won’t be fully recovered by tomorrow and we don’t
know the exact cause yet so it will be better that way.”
What is Cassidy on about? Is she keeping something from me? Why does she look so happy? Did she
come up with a solution to Amara’s problem?
“Okay.” Amara said rolling her eyes.
“We will be living with you at the cabin.” Cassidy said narrowing her eyes at Amara.
You can’t hide anything from Cassidy. She will find out anything one way or another. Amara looked
shocked. I would be too if I were in her place. I wanted to laugh at her but I controlled myself.
“How?... What?... No you can’t” Amara stuttered.
What’s with this cabin? Is Amara hiding something? Well we aren’t close enough to share our secrets
are we?
“Amara I am a witch and Grayson is a warlock.” Cassidy said in a slow and calm voice. Huh! Amara
was gaping at her, opening and closing her mouth. Why is she telling her that? “Austin and Steven are
vampires.” She continued.
What the fucking hell? Why is she dragging me into this?
“Why are you telling me this now?” Amara managed to choke out.
“I thought it’s the right time to tell you. I saw your pack symbol too. I knew you were mated to a
werewolf but I didn’t knew you were a part of the pack. So how are you a part of this pack?” Cassidy
asked like this is the most normal thing to happen on a daily basis. I want to know that as well.
“The alpha adopted me.” Amara said in a low voice.
How? As far as I know, that does not give you the pack symbol.
“We are not going to hurt you Amara. I am just trying to map the situation here. The pain you
experienced is not even an ounce to the pain you will be going through when you go home but you
have to go home. It is necessary.” Cassidy said seriously.
“What are you talking about?” Amara asked. She looked scared out of her mind.
“You will know when the time comes but don’t give up. You are stronger than you think you are. You
deserve better. Whatever happens, don’t give up. For now, you need to rest so you will good enough to
travel tomorrow.” Cassidy said standing up. She injected the medicine in the drip. “It will help you sleep.
I will book the tickets for tomorrow and pack your cloths for the journey. Don’t worry you will be alright.
We will help you.”
I can see Amara was losing conscious. Cassidy bounced out of the room with me right behind her.
Someone looks happy. What is going on here?
“Why are you so happy?” I asked as soon as the door to my bedroom closed behind us.
“Well I have a good news.” She said bouncing on her heels.
“And…” Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
“I think Amara isn’t human. Not entirely that is. She is part human.” She said with wide eyes and a mad
grin on her face.
“What? Are you sure?” Is she kidding me? If she is not human then I would have felt it or smelt it on her
but nothing of sorts happened. “What makes you think that way?”
“I will tell you everything when we get back from her home town. I don’t know what she is exactly but I
know she can’t be human. I felt a presence of a spirit around her before she woke up. It felt like the
spirit was trying to communicate with her in her head. It wasn’t there around her or inside her but its
presence was really strong. It felt like an alpha wolf was present there in person. If I am correct about
my theory then I don’t think the alpha that she said adopted her is a living person and if he is not a
living person then we have a major chance of saving her. I think we will be able to stop her from dying
due to the rejection. She not being human plays a major part in this.” Cassidy said seriously.
“Okay but why is she feeling the effects so strong then and what is this cabin?” I asked shocked out of
my mind.
“I think her powers are not fully awakened yet or they might be dormant as she is part human. That
human side must be causing her pain. I am not sure myself completely though. I think I will find out
when we go to the cabin. That cabin is important in this. It triggered her other side. I saw it in her
memories. It is in the woods of Greycoast. She first went there when she was ten and moved there
when she turned sixteen. She lived there alone but it felt like there was someone or more than one
person living there with her but I couldn’t see them. This memory too was hard to penetrate in her
mind. I did that when she was unconscious yesterday with great difficulty. That too I found only bare
minimum. You can say the memories of the cabin are kept in a high security vault in her mind which are
hard to reach by any person, human or super naturals. I don’t think she is doing it though.
Something else is protecting her or she would have died the first time, three days ago when the results
of her cheating mate hit her the first time. I think her mate is cheating on her way longer than this. I felt
the emptiness creeping inside a month after she arrived here. Three days ago he must have slept with
someone else that’s why she collapsed. I thought she will die from this but she survived. Her dormant
powers kept her going and the spirit helped her get out of the comatose state. I think the spirit has
called her back home. That’s why she wants to go.” Cassidy finished her rant sighing.
She plopped on the couch of the living room leaving a shell shocked me standing like a fool in the
middle of the room. Cassidy looked to be in deep thought. Spirit? Part human? Cheating since months?
How long did she knew this? I slowly walked to the couch and sat beside her after I gained the control
of my limbs back. What is Amara? She doesn’t even know she is not human?
“I might need your help at some point.” Cassidy said breaking the silence.
“In what?” I asked confused.
“Well… you know… in coping with the rejection. I mean in teaching her how to live with the emptiness.”
She replied looking straight ahead.
“Are you telling me to teach her my way of coping with the pain?” I asked her suspiciously.
“Not exactly your way but be with her when she needs someone to cope up with this. No one can
understand the pain of rejection than the person who is been through there. I just want her to live
happily. I think that the girl is special and we must help her. She is good for you. I am having a feeling
that the girl will heal your wounds.” She said looking at me expectantly.
No one can heal my wounds. They are permanent. They bleed every so often. But I will try helping
Amara as much as I can. No one should go through the pain I went through. It kills you from the inside.
This is going to be one hell of a ride.
