Love At Last

Chapter 85 – Cayden doesn’t want me in his life.

Lily’s POV

I still haven’t gotten over all the words that Cayden said to me minutes ago.

Did he really mean everything he said? I hope not because the words were way too deep for him to mean.

It’s not like I had offended him without apologising, so why did he say that he doesn’t want to have anything to do with me again?

Wow, I really can’t believe it. If that’s how he really feels about the relationship we share, then I don’t think I’m going to get over it in a while.

What will I even tell Jacek? That the man he loves with his whole heart doesn’t want us? No, that’s too mean for a child.

I thought about going after him and asking him why he doesn’t want me anymore, but I decided to forget about it. I don’t want to humiliate myself in front of that mean lady.

I touched my cheeks and I saw that I was crying. I sniffed noisily and I cleaned my tears away.

Being weak and vulnerable like this was making me feel bad about myself and I was starting to dislike Cayden, even though he just said all those things to me a few minutes ago.

I turned around because I was ready to go home and forget everything that happened today.

I hadn’t taken up to three steps when I heard someone calling me from behind. I knew the person that was calling me, but I wasn’t ready to turn back, so I just continued walking.

The person continued calling me and when the person saw that I wasn’t ready to talk to him, he stopped calling me. I thought he had gone back, but when I turned, I saw him staring straight into my eyes.

“What do you want, Cayden?” I asked him and he grabbed my hand instantly. I tried freeing myself from his grip, but he was too strong.

He continued dragging me until my back was resting against a wall. He suddenly released his grip on my hand and he hugged me tightly.

I was shocked by his sudden action, so I didn’t hug him back. I was just waiting for him to pull out of the hug and explain himself.

He finally stopped hugging me and he palmed my face.

“I’m so sorry, Lily. I really am.” He said and when he tried hugging me again, I stopped him by putting my hand in between our bodies.

He was shocked by that and I gave him a small push before speaking.

“What was that hug for, Cayden? I thought you didn’t want me in your life. Why are you here? You should go with your woman. Please go.” I said all at once and when I was about to leave, he grabbed my right hand and he dragged me back to my former position.

I sighed and I decided to let him speak before leaving again.

“There’s a perfect explanation for that. I didn’t do that on purpose.” When he said that, I was suddenly interested in what he had to say.

A huge frown settled on my face, as I prepared to listen to what Cayden had to say.

He slightly backed away from me and he looked in my eyes.

“Just like I said earlier, I didn’t say all those things to you on purpose. I’d never do that to you, trust me. I did that because she asked me to do it. She told me to be mean to you and throw you out of my life.”

What he was saying didn’t make any sense to me. He was commanded to be mean to me? That’s crazy. There must be a reason behind it.

“Why? Why did you do that?” I asked and I looked away from him

Even if he was really asked to say all these things to me, he could have just refused. He’s a grown man for God’s sake.

“The woman that’s leaving with me..” he started saying, but I Interrupted him, “the one that you left with some minutes ago?”

I knew that the question that I asked was too obvious, but I just wanted to be clear on everything.

“Yes. She knows about you.” He said and I looked at him sceptically.

I wondered what he meant by her ‘knowing me’. It sounded weird and I didn’t want to interrupt him, but I just needed an answer.

“What do you mean by her knowing me? I didn’t know her before you met her. I didn’t even have anything to do with her. Please, explain to me.” I said all at once, expecting a reply the next second.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

“Calm down, please.” He laughed and I didn’t know when I was laughing too.

The fact that I was being too inquisitive was funny to me too.

“She knows that I took you to dinner and the golf game that we went to.” He said and I subconsciously widened my eyes.

Oh wow, she knew all that? Cayden wasn’t wrong when he said that she actually knew me more than I thought.

“Are you serious? How did she know all that?” I asked almost immediately and Cayden casually shrugged.

I didn’t like the lady before, but now I find her really creepy.

Wait a minute, the only person that knew about the dinner party and the fact that we went to play golf apart from me, was Cayden.

Which meant that Cayden was the one that told her one way or the other.

“You told her, didn’t you? You’re a betrayer.” I accused and this time he was the one that widened his eyes.

“Why would you say that? If I did, then I wouldn’t have told you that she knew. The fact that you think I actually told her makes me feel bad.” He looked a little bit angry, but I wasn’t interested in feeling remorse about what I said. I was sure that he was the one that told her because her sudden knowledge about it made no sense to me at all.
