A Lifetime With You

A Lifetime With You Chapter 97

Chapter 97

The search went on for three days. For the past three days, everyone was looking for her without resting, but there was still nothing. The only thing they found was the pair of shoes washed up by the sea that day. Damien sat by the shore with the shoes in his arms. He reached out as if he wanted to grab something from the sea. But what he got was the seawater and nothing else. Just like that, she disappeared. No matter what he did, there was no sign of her. Jessica heard about her daughter and she cried so much that she passed out twice. She eventually arrived at the beach with someone holding her steadily. D

Damien, on the other hand, had been sitting here for three whole days.

“Damien, go home,” Jessica said with a hoarse voice. These three days were a huge torment for anyone. Jessica wouldn’t come here with a fragile body if it weren’t for Damien’s parents who visited her to ask for her help. They begged Jessica to talk some sense into Damien. She didn’t want to offend the Radbury family, so she came.

“Your parents want to hold a funeral for Ava and the child. You should be handling this. Ava can’t see you even if you choose to sit here all day.” “She’s not dead. Why would there be a funeral?”

Damien’s eyes were dull while he was staring straight at waves that crashed onto the shore. In the past three days, many people had walked past him. Some men dived into the sea to help him search for Ava. Also, his family came to see him. However, how could he give up just like this?

No matter what, he wanted to see her. Even if she was dead, he also wanted to at least see her body. “It’s been three days. Even if you don’t want to accept the fact… she’s gone.” Jessica’s voice broke at the end of her sentence. He turned his head slowly towards her, “You are her mother, you would rather think that she is dead instead of alive?” There was no emotion at all in his voice.

“She’s mycie and only family in this world. The last thing I want was for her to be dead… But now, what’s the point of making yourself suffer?” With a hand on her chest, Jessica sobbed once again.

In the past, he used to look down on Jessica as she was greedy, materialistic, and foolish.

But this time, she was the only one who could understand how he felt. Damien suddenly chuckled lightly. Actually, there was a secret that he told no one. Ava didn’t know about it too. Ever since in high school, Ava had been crushing on him. Although she never actually confessed her

feelings to him, her crush was very obvious. At that time, many people in the school were spreading that the famous girl in class thirteen had a crush on Damien Radbury. He heard about it a long time ago, but because there were just too many girls who had a crush on him, he didn’t really care.

However, after class, when he walked past a street lined with cherry blossoms every day, his gaze would always end up on her. Perhaps it was because she was very beautiful. Damien had never considered himself to be someone who cared too much about appearances, but that girl’s smile was too sweet. It was hard to not notice her smile. But every time, he would act like he didn’t care and walk past her. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

They had never interacted even until graduation. When they finally got into college, he found out that they enrolled in the same course and were in the same class. And during the orientation, he finally got to know her name as Ava Nagel. At that time, Damien never thought that there would be so many misunderstandings between them. He never even expected that she would end up as his wife. As an egoistic man, he could never accept deception. He couldn’t accept the fact that his own wife used such a shameful way to be with him.

However, it took them two years to clear up such a simple misunderstanding, even though both of them had been tricked.

In the end, it was he who wronged her.

And this time, fate wasn’t giving him a chance to make it up to her anymore.

Ava’s funeral had already begun, but Damien was late.

He was in a mess and haggard. He was extremely skinny and there were overgrown beards on his chin. The outfit he was wearing was the same as three days ago. Damien smashed an empty urn onto the ground in front of everyone who turned up before he chased them out. In the end, he was left alone, staring at the portrait of Ava hanging in the mourning hall. “Why… Why couldn’t you give me a chance?”

He reached out to touch her face, eyes, nose, and lips…

The person in the photo was smiling, and her eyes were as bright as the sun. However, it was just a piece of the picture.

“Honey, what should we do now?” Outside the mourning hall, Karen asked Daryl anxiously. This was a funeral for the daughter-in-law of the Radbury family. Although her body wasn’t found, all the expected guests were present. But this time, Damien was acting crazy and even chased everyone out. Daryl sighed with a dark face, “Let him be then.”

“But there are so many guests here…”

“At this point, is our son more important or our image in front of the guests?” Daryl shook his head helplessly. Since the day of the accident when he saw how Damien insisted to stay at the beach, Daryl somewhat understood. No matter how much Damien used to act indifferently towards Ava, she was his everything regardless of what happened before!

Ava was gone while he was like the living dead. He looked like someone who had lost his soul and he would collapse anytime. “We can’t let him go on like this. Damien has never been so devastated!”

Karen said with concern. She wanted to go in to comfort her son, but Daryl stopped her. “Forget it. If he can’t convince himself to accept the truth, do you think we would be able to do it?” A few minutes later, Damien finally walked out of the mourning hall. There were still no emotions on his face. No one knew what he was thinking and what he had done in those few minutes alone. He didn’t say a word or look at anybody present. Afterward, he left straight away. He directly went out of the Radbury family’s house. At the door, Kelly held a bouquet of white flowers in her hands. She was hesitating if she should go in.

As soon as she saw Damien, she immediately turned to hide but she was too late. “Stop right there!” Damien’s voice was cold and stern. “… I just want… to pay my respect to Miss Nagel and apologize to her.” Kelly’s voice could barely be heard as she felt extremely guilty. She had always shown up in public with perfect outfits and makeup. But this time, she was barefaced and her eyes were swollen and red. It seemed like she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep for a long time. Damien said indifferently, “You don’t have to come. She’s not even here.” “I went to the beach yesterday and the day before, but your men who were searching for her wouldn’t let me past no matter what. That’s why I’m here…” “Kelly Hensley, I told you if anything happens to Ava, I would make you pay with your life.”
