A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 703

Chapter 703

However, Sage knew that if she did that, her brothers would be worried sick. Sage could only carefully hide her weariness behind a smile and enjoyed dinner with her brothers.

No matter how hard Sage tried, her brothers could still see the lack of interest in her eyes. They stayed silent and did not say anything about it.

They knew that time healed all wounds, but Sage still required some time before she could return to her former confident self.

The topic of the conversation slowly shifted toward Yale’s situation.

“He’s still comatose, but there are instances where he’d wiggle his fingers. At least he won’t be a vegetable, but we still won’t know when he’ll wake up,” explained Nigel.

Luther unconsciously said, “Who would’ve thought such misfortune would befall him? Even if he were to wake up, there would still probably be a lot of physical hurdles for him to pass before he could return to his normal life, just like how Jace was three years,”

His words were cut short by a sudden kick underneath the table, along with the collective glance of all the brothers at the dinner table.

Sage seemed to be unaffected. She continued eating after a slight pause.

After dinner, just as Sage was about to return to her room, the butler walked in with three letters. “There’s no sender name on the letters. It arrived a few days back.”

Sage picked up the letters. She felt her mind go blank when she saw the words written on them.

“This is Jace’s writing. He sent me letters?’ thought Sage.

Sage calmed herself and went up to her room with the letters in her hands clutched tightly in her fists. Her fingers turned white with the force she exerted from clutching the papers tightly. When Sage closed the door behind her, she could feel her heart thumping in her chest.

The words, ‘To: Sage’, seemed to scream out at her.

‘Are you a fossil? Why would you write letters?’ complained Sage in her heart. Sage threw the letters on the table and went into the shower. She took a cold bath to calm herself down.

Sage could only tell herself that there was nothing to be anxious about. Jace must have written to ask for forgiveness and perhaps asked to get back together.

No matter how hard Sage tried, she could not suppress her thoughts. Useless thoughts raced across her mind.

‘Why did he write a letter? Did he write a love poem for me? He wouldn’t. He doesn’t have the talent.’

When Sage turned off the shower, she could feel her heart thumping against her ribs. It was as if her heart tried to force itself out of her body.

Sage put a towel around herself and looked into the mirror. Her eyes were wet and puffy, her cheeks were sunken, and she looked like a phantom with huge bags under her eyes. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

Sage could not help but wonder how she became that way.

“Jace, you piece of shit!” exclaimed Sage out of frustration. Sage finally walked out of the bathroom and stood by the table. She opened up letter number one.
