Chapter 207 Impersonator
Chapter 207 Impersonator
"I hate Amy so much. She needs to get a taste of her own medicine." Linda said aloud, clenching her
fists.
"Linda, whatever you need, whatever you want, you name it and I will make sure it is done. Anything."
Richard responded, dead set on fulfilling any of Linda's desires.
"Thanks grandfather, but I want to do this myself." Linda said calmly. She wanted to inflict and witness
Amy's pain for herself.
"Okay. Whatever you want to do, you have my full support."
"Well, I'm hungry. I would like to eat."
"Okay, I'll tell the chef to prepare a meal." Richard stood up and left Linda to her thoughts.
For the next three days, Linda lived a routine life. She would wake up, receive medical attention and
then take a walk in the yard. It was the private hospital of Nalan clan and all doctors here worked for
them, so nobody would consider her face covered by gauze, strange.
Linda would read books for two to four hours a day.
This surprised Richard very much. Usually, people in situations such as that of Linda's, would try to Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
commit suicide or get depressed.
However, Linda was positive.
In fact, it was Linda that comforted him with smile when she saw his worry and told him she was alright.
But this made Richard even more worried. Why did such a good girl have to suffer so much?
She was abandoned as soon as she came to this world and then got adopted by Donna Xie. Richard
had sent some men to investigate and learned that she had a poor and sad childhood. He felt sorry that
he didn't do anything for her when she was young.
As time flew, another week passed. One day, Linda was reading a book, lying on her bed.
Her face wounds became scars, which caused her to start itching. But under doctor's orders, she knew
she shouldn't scratch them because they wouldn't heal properly and doing so would make her
appearance worse.
So she banished away the feeling and concentrated on the novel. Soon, she was deeply engrossed in
it that she didn't hear when Richard walked in for his daily visit. He had been the only person, except
her doctors and nurses, who came to pay her a social visit everyday.
He talked about the Nalan clan as well as Sherry sometimes.
But he preferred to listen to Linda. Her aura was always vibrant, warm and animated and Richard
enjoyed watching her when she spoke.
Linda usually talked about her childhood and her life with Charles. She had shared with him how she
usually calls Charles a bastard, which made Richard laugh, Because his wife, Linda's grandmother,
also liked to call him bastard.
The familiar nickname made him long for his wife, who had died a few years earlier due to illness.
Moreover, Linda looked alike her grandmother.
"How do you feel today, Linda? Is everything alright?"
Upon seeing Richard walk in, Linda put down her book and sat up with smile, "Thanks grandfather, I'm
fine."
"I have a surprise for you. I think you might know her. She's now outside the door. Do you want to see
her?" Richard sat down and said to Linda.
"Who is it?" Linda looked surprised.
Without answering her question, Richard knocked his walking stick on the ground, and in walked a
familiar face. It was Dr. Anna.
"Anna..." Linda called out to her.
Their eyes locked in recognition. Anna noticed that a large area of Linda's face was covered with
gauze, sadness tightened its grip on her heart. She walked to Linda and hugged her, "My Lady, what
happened? Who did this to you?"
"I'm okay now. Everything is fine." After the ordeal that she went through, she didn't know the proper
emotional reaction to seeing a friend.
"Amy Qi slashed her face with a dagger more than ten times."
Richard spoke up, his booming voice filling the room.
"More than ten times..."
Anna was not only shocked, but also sympathised Linda.
"Yes, well... Anna, why are you here?" Linda asked, trying to change the subject. The emotional
wounds were still fresh, and Linda wanted to avoid breaking down at such a crucial time.
Anna was a doctor at the private hospital of the Mu clan and therefore, it was unusual for her to be here
at the Nalan's clan hospital.
"I nearly got killed when I went home after work last night. Thanks to Lord Richard, that didn't happen.
He saved me." Anna replied, sitting at the edge of the bed.
"What? Who would want you dead?" Linda didn't understand.
Anna was just a doctor so why did someone want to kill her?
Anna looked at Linda, with a complex expression on her face. If she wasn't so familiar with Linda, she
would never imagine that there were two people in the world who looked exactly the same.
"My lady, do you know, that there's a woman who looks just like you, is pretending to be you and is with
Master Charles? She has taken over your position at the Mu Clan. She also happens to be pregnant."
Linda looked at Anna in stunned silence.
"Wait, what? How is it possible?" Richard scooted closer to hear the conversation between the two.
Anna was making an interesting revelation. Could he have another unknown granddaughter? Is she
responsible for Linda's situation? Richard was a wise old man, and could think about situations ten
steps ahead. This spiked his curiosity.
"But it's true. My Lady, if I didn't see her myself, I wouldn't have believed it either. However, when I
performed a medical check-up, I discovered a few discrepancies that made me think that it wasn't you
but an imposter. Her physical condition and attributes are different from yours. So I got suspicious. My
lady, I remember there is a black mole on your arm..." Anna's voice trailed off.
"Yes." Linda stretched out her hand and there it was a black mole under her arm. Many people didn't
know this for the mole was on the inner side of the arm.
Anna continued, "What's more, she has been pregnant for four months while you have been pregnant
for only one month. Bun brought your medical report confirming my suspicions that that woman was
pretending to be you."
"So what did Bun say?"
Anna shook her head with a bitter smile, "Before I could tell her and Master Charles, somebody tried to
kill me. When I drove back home last night, my brakes failed.
I think now she knows that I know, and I fear for my life as well as yours. We may be in danger." Anna
averted her eyes, fighting back tears that she had tried to will away.
