Branch One Hundred and Ninety Three
To Jessica and every other person it was as if Jason and Alicia were in a rush to get married and now that Jessica loved Xavier she kind of understood. She could not imagine a day without him and how her life would have been. Alicia had insisted that both Leslie and Jessica would be her bridesmaids because she had no friends.
While Jessica was showing it heavily, Leslie just had a providing stomach that could be mistaken for overeating. It took a lot to convince Xavier to allow his wife to stand for that long. Alicia promised him to keep their vows short and precise so his precious wife would not have to stand for too long.
The celebration of Alicia’s wedding was nothing glamorous like what one would have expected. She had just a few close ones to come by while Jason had his whole family. They were all joyous that their playboy and troublemaker son was finally settling down with a reputable woman too.
Although they were hesitant to accept her because of her previous reputation with relationships that concerned starting or keeping a family when they saw the love they had for each other and how zealous they were to stay with each other they had no choice but to give in and bless them.
“Do you promise to be with each other when things get tough?” the official asked Jason.
Brian had referred to Jason as a weakling because he had cried all through and was still shedding tears while saying the vow.
“Yes I do,” he said a tear dripping from one of his eyes.
“Do you take Alicia Gates to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“Yes I do”
“And do you take Jason Jameson to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“Yes I do”
“With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride”
As Alicia and Jason’s lips touched each other Leslie let out a strange scream from behind Alicia.
“What is it?” Jessica asked rushing to hold Leslie steady.
“Oh my god” she screamed out again digging her fingers into the skin of Jessica.
“Okay go easy on me,” Jessica said as her fingers sunk into her skin.
“Honey, what is it?” Brian asked rushing to hold.
“What is that?” Xavier asked pointing to the liquid trickling down Leslie’s legs.
“Did your water just break?” Jessica asked. Although she had said she would not learn about these things Xavier had forced her to read books on things like that and she had read it just because her made her do it. It seemed like the knowledge was finally coming to be useful to her.
“I think so or else I won’t be feeling this intense pain” she snapped at Jessica.
“Hey, I know you might be in pain but that is no reason for you to snap at my wife. She was only trying to help” Xavier said pulling Jessica to his side.
“So what is it? Did your water break?” Jason asked with his wife by his side and his hands on her waist.
“What was your first guess genius?” she snapped again.
“Let me,” Brian said trying to lift her. She did not show signs of a baby bump but she did put on a few pounds more and Brian was shocked she was not so easy to lift.
“We will meet you guys there so hurry up,” Jessica said after Brian who was trying his best to keep up with her weight.
“So you may kiss the bride. For real this time”
They left the wedding venue without even thinking of going to the reception and went ahead to the hospital. By the time they got there, Leslie was already in the delivery room and Brian was with her.
“I hope she is doing okay,” Jessica said in a worried tone.
“I am sure she is fine,” Xavier said rubbing Jessica’s back.
“I am worried, I hope we hear some news soon” she followed up.
“Being worried is not good for the health of the baby and for you too. I am sure she is doing okay” Xavier replied again.
“Wow Xavier I never knew you could be this much of a simp” Jason commented as he sat down with his tie loosened and out of his neck, jacket of tuxedo in hand.
“I am also shocked” Alicia followed up agreeing with her husband.
“I will gladly be a simple any day any time for her” Xavier responded kissing the side of her face. Jessica did not have the luxury to respond as she was afraid and tensed.
“Aww that is so cute,” Jessica said dryly.
“And you really sound like someone who is impressed by the fact their husband is all over them” Alicia commented immediately.
“I am impressed it is just that I am just so worried about Leslie”
“So am I but do you see me allowing worry lines to take over my face? No, you don’t so relax everything is going to be fine” Alicia said trying to ease her tension.
“Listen to Alicia” Xavier whispered to Jessica’s ear and she nodded
Aside from the books that Xavier made her read she had personally watched some delivery videos and they made her afraid of the whole childbirth process. She wondered what made women who have experienced such pain before still decide to have more kids. She was sure she could not understand it.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Although she had yet to speak to Xavier about she had already decided that she would not be having another m child because she could not bear to go through another process like this one.
“It’s Brian,” Alicia said as his eyes landed on Brian as he walked to them. He looked as if he had run a marathon. He could not understand why he was feeling so tired.
“Geez why do you look like you fight a bull?” Jason said as he stood before them.
“Fighting a bull might have been better. I fought a real war in there” he said but with a smile on his face.
“Your smile tells me that you won regardless” Jason continued
“I sure did” Jason replied. It was a tough one for him to hide his joy. He was so happy he wanted to jump up and down like a child who was gifted the most precious toy set ever.
“So can we see them?”
“Yes that is why I came to bring you in to see them,” he said before turning, Jessica held her breath stood up, and followed him with the others.
As they entered the room their eyes fell on the ever-energetic woman as she lay down somewhat lifeless on the bed.
“How do you feel?” Jessica asked as she approached her.
“So happy,” Leslie said slowly as her eyes darted to the cart by her bedside.
Everyone gathered around and peered at the babies in ten cribs. “They will soon be taken away but I wanted you all to see them first” Jason explained as the four of them stood there amazed by the beauty of the babies.
“They are so beautiful and I think it’s worth the process” Jessica found herself saying out loud.
“Of course it is” Leslie murmured.
“What are their names?” Alicia asked raising her head to meet Leslie’s eyes
“Anette and Andrew”
