After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael)

Chapter 592 We Could Live Together

The moment Michael heard her words, his expression darkened.

He thought to himself, "If she's shameless, then what does that make me?

I'm doing this for Chloe, just like she's doing it for James.

We're both the same."

Chloe remained silent. If Michael weren't standing beside her, she might have denied any special relationship with James.

But with him right there, looking at her expectantly, she could only stay quiet.

Seeing Chloe's silence, Maggie let out a self-deprecating laugh. "Feelings are strange, aren't they? I thought I'd never regret my decision, but when I saw James, I just couldn't control myself." Maggie reminisced about the times she spent with James during their school days, a nostalgic smile on her face tinged with regret.

Chloe didn't know what to say, so she could only suggest, "Once James is out of surgery, talk to him properly."

James' surgery lasted over ten hours.

This didn't surprise Chloe. Smith had warned her earlier that the bullet inside James was dangerously close to his vital organs. Any mistake could be fatal.

The bullet had been in his body for years, making the operation even more difficult than it would have been initially.

So, as she waited outside, Chloe didn't feel the slightest bit of impatience.

However, when she went to the restroom, she was suddenly struck by a contraction that bent her over in pain, nearly causing her to collapse on the floor. Michael, who was beside her, immediately rushed over, his face filled with concern.

"Chloe, are you okay?"

Seeing her pale face, he didn't hesitate to lift her into his arms. "Doctor! Doctor!"

Chloe was quickly laid on a hospital bed, surrounded by a group of nurses and doctors.

Once the contraction passed, she felt much better, but Michael insisted on having her checked.

"I'm fine, really!"

Chloe's face was filled with helplessness, but when she saw the worry in his eyes, she couldn't bring herself to refuse.

In the end, she went for an obstetric examination, and fortunately, the baby was fine. It was just a normal contraction. "Lie down and don't get up again."

Michael stood by her bed, refusing to let her go out to check on James.

At that moment, Maggie appeared at the door. "May... May I speak with Ms. Nelson for a moment?"

Michael gave her a deep look. "Say it here, or don't say it at all."

He didn't trust anyone to be alone with Chloe.

Maggie hesitated for a moment before asking, "Ms. Nelson, are you pregnant?"

Chloe nodded, and Maggie's face immediately turned pale.

"Is... is it James' baby?"

Chloe fell silent. She really didn't know how to answer.

Maggie took her silence as confirmation that the baby was indeed James'.This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

After a long pause, Maggie suddenly started laughing, a low laugh that seemed to be holding back intense emotions.

"I always thought he had feelings for me, but it turns out I was just fooling myself. You and he already have a child together."

Her words were like a knife to Michael's heart, and suddenly, he felt a kinship with Maggie, as if they were both suffering from the same wound.

Chloe was deeply embarrassed. The last thing she wanted was to admit in front of anyone, except Michael, that the baby was James'.

"Ms. Xander, you should discuss this with James after he's out of surgery."

Maggie felt even more heartbroken when she heard Chloe's words.

She cried for nearly half an hour, enough to make Chloe and Michael's ears ache, before she managed to control her emotions. "Ms. Nelson, I don't want to leave James. If you're willing, we could live together!"
