Chapter 76
Chapter 76 Nag Him About Marriage
Heather immediately rushed over to support Rachel by the arm and concernedly asked, "Rachel, are you okay?"
Leaning against the wall, Rachel took a good ten seconds to catch her breath before managing to regain her composure.
She then stood upright and gently pushed Heather's hand away. Her expression was grim as she looked at the direction Leah had left. "Just wait. I won't let that wretch get away with this!"
Remembering Ethan's words before he left, Heather swallowed nervously before cautiously reminding, "But Rachel, Mr. Ethan Wilson seems to care for that woman. If you try anything again and upset him..." Rachel immediately cut her off coldly before she could finish. "You don't need to tell me that. I know what I'm doing! Ethan is negotiating a big deal with my family now. My dad once said that businessmen like him value benefits above all else. He wouldn't abandon such a big deal just because of a woman. So, as long as I don't go too far, he won't hold it against me."
Heather furrowed her brows, looking at Rachel with a hesitant expression as if she had something to say but was holding back. "But, the way Mr. Ethan Wilson treated that woman..."
Just as Heather got the words out, she saw the fierce look in Rachel's eyes and quickly silenced herself, not daring to continue.
"I said I know what I'm doing. Do you not understand? Besides, I don't need you to tell me what to do!"
With that, Rachel turned and stormed off.
Heather muttered under her breath, a hint of resentment in her tone. "I was just trying to warn her, what's with the aggression? I've said what needed to be said. If things go south later, she better not blame me!"
Meanwhile, Leah and Ethan sat in the hall's corner, enjoying some desserts.
Thinking back to the scene in the corridor, Leah couldn't help but ask, "Ethan, I tried hinting at you with my eyes just now. You surely noticed that I never laid a hand on her, right?"
Ethan chuckled, "I am your older brother. How could I not know whether you did something or not?"
Leah was puzzled. "Then why did you still exaggerate things just now?"
Ethan explained, "Wasn't our original intention to discourage Rachel's feelings for me? Well, the more I seem to care for you, the more disappointed she becomes. A hit like that should make a young girl like her back off in no time."
Leah then nodded in understanding. Afterward, she smiled faintly, "I must say, Ethan, you have quite the skill in handling situations like this."
With a helpless smile, Ethan replied
"Well, I can't help it. I've had my fair share of dealing with relentless admirers, so I've had to learn how to deal with them."
Leah seemed amused by some thought and suddenly smiled mischievously at him, "I know a way to stop this problem once and for all." Ethan's interest was piqued. "What's that?"
She teased, "You must find a wife and marry soon. Once you settle down, who would still dare approach you?"
He retorted helplessly, "How did we circle back to this topic again?"
Leah responded, "I'm just being frank. Don't you think there's some truth to what I'm saying?"NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
Ethan agreed, "There's truth to that, but one can't rush fate. It doesn't work that way."
Seeing Ethan's unease, Leah
laughed and changed the subject
"Alright won't tease you anymore. Finish your dessert quickly. There's a group of people waiting to discuss business with you."
He thought, "As long as Leah doesn't nag me about marriage like Mom always does, it's fine."
With that, Ethan breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, it's about time anyway. We'll head home in another half an hour."
Leah nodded in agreement. "Okay."
Meanwhile, in a corner, Rachel
glared in the direction of Leah and
Ethan. She observed them chatting
and laughing heartily, a growing
sense of resentment welling up inside her.
Eventually, intense loathing enveloped her entire expression.
With a burning rage, Rachel thought, "You'll pay for this, you wretch. I'll make sure of it!"
