EPISODE 26 Bridal tears
MOON STONE PACK
Meagan went back to the guesthouse, had a good bathe before putting a call through to her best friend. Hazel picked on a third ring.
“Hello bes,” Meagan said.
“Meagan….” Hazel’s voice trailed off.
“Are you back from work? What’s wrong?” Meagan demanded as she noticed Hazel’s unusual tone.
“It’s nothing… I am fine. Just-” her voice broke off.
“Can you come over right now? Hazel is not in a good shape. She had been crying since we got back from work.” Brianna said over the phone.
Meagan could hear Hazel’s sobs underneath. “I’ll be right there with you.” She disconnected the call.
She got out of the bed, raced out of her room and locked the door. She wondered what could have happened to her best friend for Hazel to break down that way.
Finally, Meagan reached the beta’s home. Hazel sat on the couch with piles of tissue sitting close to her and also across the floor near her legs.
Beta Julius stood just simply watching his mate. He didn’t know what else to do to make Hazel open up to him. Even Brianna didn’t know the exact reason why she was crying.
Megan kept an eye on Hazel as she sat beside her on the couch. “What happened?” She asked the beta and his sister.
“I have no clue and I have been trying to get her to open up to me but she won’t say anything.” Beta Julius replied.
“Hazel, tomorrow is your wedding so you shouldn’t be crying. Do you want people to stay away from the bride with the swollen eyes?” Brianna asked in a calm tone.
Over the past fifteen years, Meagan has seen her best friend in different mood, but whenever she refused to open up to anyone then something wasn’t quite right. Meagan remembered a time in high school when the boy Hazel liked had bad mouthed her and claimed that she was trying to force herself on him. Those words spread around the school like wide fire and everyone gossiped about her. His words had hurt her deeply as Hazel had cried for several hours in hiding before Meagan could find her.
Back then, Meagan did a great job at encouraging her best friend to put those words behind her. And with a smile on Meagan’s face, she had reassured her best friend about how beautiful and special she was as a wolf.
Now here they are again, trying to figure out a way to get her best friend to open up to her. Meagan reasoned that it could be that Hazel was like this for the same reason.
“Hazel,” Meagan moved closer to her best friend on the couch. “Do you want to have a conversation in private?” She gave her a tissue to wipe her tears.
Hazel sobbed loudly.
“She won’t just say anything! Our wedding is in less than twenty four hours and you are in tears? This is definitely not from excitement!” Beta Julius said in a slightly raised tone. He was frustrated. He was scared that his mate might be thinking of calling of the wedding because she had kept on saying that she didn’t deserve him last night.
“Calm down Julius, she doesn’t need you to raise your voice at her.” Brianna scolded her brother.
Meagan held her best friend’s hand. “Hazel, are you having a second thought about your wedding?” She asked.
Hazel shook her head negatively causing her mate to sigh in relief.
“Are you feeling nervous about tomorrow?” Brianna demanded.
Hazel sniffed as she held onto Meagan tightly.
“Listen Hazel, it’s fine to be nervous about tomorrow. I mean.. I am nervous too because I am getting married to the woman I love. But I just don’t understand you anymore.” Julius said with a pleasing look on his face.
Hazel’s head spun to look up at her mate. “Do you think I am a gold digger?” She muttered. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“What?!” Julius gazed as he arched his brows at the same time.
“What do you mean, Hazel?” Brianna asked. They couldn’t comprehend her words.
Meagan could feel Hazel’s hand trembling as she held on to her. Hazel’s head dropped down to stare at their locked hands.
“I never said you are a gold digger. Where on earth did you get such thought?” Beta Julius frowned.
“It wasn’t you that said it. I.. I.. heard-” Hazel’s voice trailed off as more tears streamed down her face.
Meagan was right as she had predicted. Hazel can’t take someone bad mouthing her or rumor about her flying around like wild fire.
“What did you hear, Hazel?” Julius asked in a calm tone.
“I heard some wolves at the infirmary saying that I am a gold digger. That I-” Hazel stopped and drew in a sharp breathe.
“Who are those wolves?!” Julius furrowed his eyebrows.
Hazel continued. “They said I don’t deserve you as my mate. That I am living off my mate and the pack’s resources.” She cried.
Anger crossed Beta Julius expression.
“They didn’t know I was close by, listening to them talk bad about me. They described me to be a pretentious wolf and I have succeeded in seducing you to get married to me so I won’t have to work hard to get any resources as a wolf.” Hazel couldn’t control her tears as she let it flow freely.
“Who are those wolves talking shit about you?! Give me their names and I will help them keep their mouths shut!” Julius gritted his teeth in anger. The last thing he wanted was to see his mate hurting by bad words said by other wolves.
