Chapter 2 43: It’s not worth it
Roxane looked down and didn’t react.
Sebastian hesitated for a moment before reaching out and tentatively holding her hand. Seeing that she showed no resistance, he sighed in relief.
– Let’s go back to our room. Sebastien said softly as he led her up the stairs.
After Christine recovered from her shock, she finally noticed Roxane’s abnormal behavior. She looked at her with a strange look as she cried out softly:
– Brother…
As soon as Christine’s voice fell, Sebastien raised his eyes and looked at her with a gaze as sharp as knives.
Christine immediately shut up. She covered her mouth with both hands, making sure she didn’t make any noise.
When Roxane walked past Christine, she didn’t react at all. She only looked at the lifeless, doll-like growth as she let Sebastian lead her.
Christine scratched her head and muttered to herself:
– What is happening?
– The sister-in-law is behaving strangely…
…
After returning to the bedroom, Sebastian led her to the bed and lifted the blanket so she could get into bed.
After lying down on the big bed, Roxane did not close her eyes. She looked straight at the ceiling. There seemed to be a small hint of confusion in his otherwise lifeless eyes.
Sebastien leaned over to tuck her in as he gently cuddled her:
– Okay, close your eyes and go to sleep.
As if she had heard him, Roxane’s eyelashes fluttered as she closed her eyes obediently.
Sebastien sat down next to the bed. His dark eyes overflowed with love and tenderness as he looked at her. His heart felt like it had melted into a puddle at that moment. She was so good and obedient even when she was sleepwalking.
He brushed stray hairs from her face before leaning down and kissing her gently on the forehead.
– Good night, my little sun.
His low, raspy voice was so soft. It was even softer than the moon hanging in the sky outside the window.
…
After leaving the room, Sebastian saw Christine hugging a watermelon and digging it with a spoon without any sense of propriety. More than half of the watermelon had been dug up by his spoon.
She looked at him and smiled instinctively. The next moment, she remembered that she was still angry, and her expression immediately soured. The change in his expression was even faster than turning the pages of a book.
Sebastien was expressionless as he said in a voice that brooked no argument:
– Don’t tell him anything about tonight’s incident.
Without waiting for a response, he turned around to go back to his room.
Christine stood up immediately, dripping watermelon juice onto the carpet. She seemed to have forgotten her anger as she asked worriedly:
-What’s wrong with sister-in-law?
She was neither blind nor stupid. She could clearly tell that something was wrong with Roxane earlier. She was like a different person earlier.
Sebastien remained silent for a moment. Then he spat out a word:Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
– Sleepwalking.
Christine’s almond-shaped eyes widened in shock.
– Sleepwalking? I only saw it on television!
– She is shy. Don’t scare him.
He thought that if Roxane knew about this, it would only increase his psychological burden. Therefore, he preferred to tire himself out and keep an eye on her every night. He didn’t want to have any burden, psychological or otherwise.
Christine reacted quickly and swore:
– Don’t worry ! I won’t tell my sister-in-law! If I break my promise, I’m no better than a beast.
Sebastian only glanced at Christine once more before reaching for the cold doorknob.
Seeing this, Christine couldn’t help but call out:
– Brother…
She looked down and said in a small voice:
– Brother, I really like Raoul. I have never loved a person so much before. Can you give me a chance?
– I just want the chance to be with the person I love…
Sebastien stood with his back to Christine; he did not look at her. His eyebrows were very furrowed and his face seemed to be covered in a layer of frost. After a long silence, he only said a few words:
– It is not worth the trouble.
After saying this, he entered the room and closed the door.
Christine lowered her head and looked at the watermelon she had almost hollowed out with a helpless expression on her face. Her eyes were red as she smiled and said in a voice filled with self-deprecation and stubbornness:
– Even if it’s not worth it, I like it…
