Chapter 12
Chapter 12
ARJUN SMITH
When I saw the news on my laptop, the rumours about me were not changed. They were still debating about how these young CEOs are doing. FYI, I didn't do anything! Anything!
Something distracted me. Even the air around me added to the mystery. My heart was beating faster and uneven. I flipped close my laptop and hopped out from my bed and walked towards the balcony. The sky was white and some shades of red. Looking at the street where children were playing some with themselves and some with their cycles and even some with their balloons. The sight of playing those makes somehow brought my heartbeat back to normal.
I heard the door creaked open.
"Dude, you need to go out and relax your mind." Charles's voice raised behind me each step he took towards me.
When I didn't respond he made me face him and said, "We are going."
We? Was he also coming to check on me? "Where?"
"No idea. Come with me," he said as dragging me towards our back yards and pushed me into the swimming pool. And he, himself dived into the pool next to me.
"Charles! What the heck? I said I wasn't in the mood." I shouted when I get the air to speak.
"You've been hot from the day you saw that news so I thought you'd need this. Just chill, bro," he said.
I thought for a moment and I would agree with him. I need to chill and get those things off of my mind.
"Didn't you like her?" he asked.
"I don't know." Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
"Is that so?" he said. "And that's why you accepted to give your hand in marriage?" he said as splashing the water.
"I accepted to for a reason."
"What was that for?" he asked still confused. I, myself confused why I said that!
"Isn't she looks like Priyanka Chopra? Isn't she beautiful? Cute?" he was going on with his words.
"Looking is not at all a matter and the same goes to beautiful and cute or whatever. She told me to cancel this engagement." I said as I felt the relief of keeping down the weight from my heart.
"She asked you to cancel, what?" he gave me that shocked expression. "I thought no one has ever rejected you but this girl has rejected you? That's odd. Did she tell you the reason? Like she has a boyfriend?"
"She said she had to study further and which makes sense. And what the thing that I quite didn't understand was why I couldn't cancel that when she told me to." I said.
"Maybe your ego had shown up out of. You know, I have to say you this. You've to work with your ego. She might have better reason apart from studying otherwise she'd not ask you to cancel this. Even if her reason was 'studying' she should have continued her studying once after the wedding. Who's going to stop her, you? No one! No one!" he paused. "She might have a better reason for that apart from just studying." He repeated, again.
