Chapter 180
Chapter 180
Coming back to his senses, Frederick realized what he just said. Standing in front of him, the finance manager, administrative manager, and sales director were all looking at him in shock. Chet had also looked up at him in surprise.
Sensing that others cast him with a look, the finance manager swallowed his saliva and spoke up.
"Mr. Clements, this month's pay scheme has already been prepared! Is it the bonus you're delaying? Do you need me to redo this month's pay scheme?
He felt embarrassed to tell Frederick straight what was going on in his mind, "You just signed the scheme two days ago! If I'm to redo it, I would have to work overtime before the end of the month. Whether it can be completed in time is a problem itself. I'm probably the one who's going to bear the brunt now!" However, he didn't dare say a word.
The point was that there were no financial or liquidity problems! Why not pay the wages?
At the same time, the sales director also chimed in.
"Mr. Clements, the wages for sales have already been submitted and this month's payment collection was completed in excess. Regarding the commission, we have already notified them too. Do you think we can start next month?"
They had an excess in payment collection, how could it be that the company was short on funds?
At that moment, the sales director was absolutely confused.
Watching everyone's reaction, Frederick had understood their meanings. "I was just asking; it doesn't concern our company anyway!"
With a wave of his hand, Frederick dismissed this topic and continued speaking.
"Let's call it a day! As for the rest, organize it into written documents and pass it to me! The year's almost ending, the finance department should make another plan. Additionally, give an additional one month's salary as a year- end bonus for the employees and put it in next month's salary! Also, the bonuses for the elite employees from each department remain unchanged! Those that do not hit the target in three months should just leave!"
"Yes, Mr. Clements!"
All of them spoke in unison, obviously overjoyed.
After seeing them out, Chet tidied the office up before sitting down. "What did you mean earlier on?"
If news about their company having trouble paying salaries were to spread, wouldn't it be ruining their own reputation?
"Chet, would you take it to heart if you didn't receive a year-end bonus?"
Chet immediately got goosebumps, his eyes going round. "Frederick, just say what you have to say, don't scare me please. Did I do something wrong?"
Thinking back, Chet felt perplexed. He hadn't made any mistakes recently! Why detain his year- end bonus? That was a huge sum of money!
Simultaneously, Frederick also gave out a long sigh. "It was just a metaphor, why couldn't they understand? Squares really don't fit in holes!" he thought to himself.
If he cut that money grubber's allowance, would she then remember how well he has treated her?
But, given her temper, would it backfire? What if he got into her bad side again merely because of thirty thousand dollars?
With all sorts of thoughts racing through his mind, he fell into worry again.
Sitting opposite him, Chet was utterly confused-he couldn't understand anything!
At this moment, something popped up in Frederick's mind.
"That's it! Go investigate Alicia's activities these two days besides work! Find out whether she offended anyone!"
The abrupt change of topic surprised Chet. "Huh?"
Weren't they just having a meeting? Why did she just suddenly pop up?
Looking at his startled face, Frederick rolled his eyes. "I won't detain your year-end bonus. I'll even give you an additional twenty percent!"
"That's not it! Frederick, what's wrong with Miss Blanchard again? If you want me to investigate, can't you at least point me in the right direction?"
Other than work, wouldn't she just eat and sleep? It couldn't be that Frederick wanted him to investigate her daily routine, right?
Frederick pondered for a while before answering.
"Well, check whether she got into an argument with anyone or was there any conflict. Also, find out whether anyone bullied or hit her." Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
He wondered if Alicia had gotten herself into trouble again. However, she didn't really have anyone by her side. If she really had been wronged, she probably could've only kept it to herself.
When Frederick thought of this, he felt uncomfortable. He felt sorry for her.
Without someone to rely on, it was a bad thing if a woman was too attractive. On the contrary, she couldn't keep still and kept going around causing trouble!
It was obvious that he was worried about her!
At that moment, Chet almost wanted to roll his eyes as well. "If you care about her so much, why can't you just ask her yourself? You're suffering because you don't want to lose face!" he thought bitterly.
Suddenly, he remembered something and took out his phone. He then found the post and passed the phone over to Frederick. "There's no need for the investigation, she was hit! It came up in the post feed this morning..."
Looking at the phone, a few photos came into view. Frederick's face fell. The caption stated, "Two Pretty Women Fighting In Broad Daylight For One Men; What About The Rest Of Us?"
There were four photos, the first was of Jeremy holding Alicia's hand; the next was a photo of Alicia hitting him with her bag unreasonably; another was of Jeremy with his arm around Lindsay; the last was the picture of Lindsay slapping Alicia...
These four photos alone could already outline a story for those who didn't know the truth!
On the other hand, these photos were obviously not taken professionally; they were taken from a distance and were quite blurry. They were posted anonymously and only had a few descriptions attached.
The poster considered it indecent for two women to be fighting in public. He reprimanded them for being ignorant, feeling that society is very unfair. Many good men couldn't find a companion but bad men could have two; from the poster's tone, it could be seen that he was an incompetent and ugly person who was just jealous of the world!
After a while, Frederick felt anger rising in him again.
That d*mned woman! Just how much did she like her old fling? Frederick was her true and rightful partner. Was she blind? How could she even hold on to that piece of trash?
Throwing the phone back to Chet, Frederick got up to make two cups of coffee. "Do you know the situation between Jeremy and that woman?"
In his memory, he vaguely remembered that that woman had been troubling Alicia frequently.
"I knew that he would ask about this! It's a good thing I dug around on this issue while I was at Bayton City, it's really a hard job being Master Clement's assistant!" Chet thought and sighed internally.
He then accepted the coffee and rearranged his thoughts before speaking.
"I know a few things. This woman's name is Lindsay Crouch, I think she was a schoolmate with Miss Blanchard and Jeremy Pitcher at St. Abbott University. From what I understand, it was a melodramatic story. Miss Blanchard and Jeremy were a generally acknowledged ideal couple in school, a match made in heaven!"
Feeling a cold stare, Chet shuddered as he realized he'd used the wrong descriptions, therefore he tried to laugh it off.
"It was how they were described on campus!" He wasn't the one who labeled them as a match made in heaven.
