Chapter 670
Chapter 670
In the office, Nicholas saw the submissive looking woman who was sobbing behind him. He glanced at the sofa from the corner of his eyes before he turned around to retrieve the first aid kit.
"What's your name?"
Sitting upright, Caroline looked up at him and said, "Caroline! I'm telling you the truth!"
Caroline?
Nicholas could only recall that Frederick had a younger sister named Hallie. Moreover, as far as he was aware of it, Alicia did not get along with her that well!
Why hadn't he heard of Frederick having another sister?
Nicholas' eyes narrowed as he sized her up once again.
Caroline gazed directly at him with her alluring eyes that were filled with sincerity. At that moment, Nicholas took out a tweezer and poured some ointment over the cotton balls while he said,
"I'll help you treat your wound first to disinfect it!"
As soon as he approached her, Caroline immediately gripped her clothes tightly and fled to the other end of the sofa. Right then, there was a sense of wariness in her eyes.
"Haha!"
Nicholas couldn't help but chuckled, She wasn't that dense after all! He guessed that she was clever, but her actions were occasionally questionable! He thought. Caroline was indeed slow on the uptake. She only kept her guard up after she entered the tiger's den.
As he sat down, Nicholas slicked his lips and shook his head. "Don't worry, I'm not interested in a scrawny girl like you! Just let me treat your wound so that it'll heal faster!"
Besides, if she was really a member of the Clements family, wouldn't Alicia be put in a difficult situation if she went back in such a state?
All of a sudden, Caroline's eyes widened in frustration as she was belittled by the man twice in that night. What an undiscerning man! He was clearly unaware that there are many men who are attracted to her! She thought to herself.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Not wanting to force her, Nicholas then kept the cotton balls back into the first aid kit. Shortly after, he stood up and walked over to the bar by the side to pour two glasses of white wine. He gently swirled them before he headed back and handed her a glass.
Caroline took a sniff and instantly shook her head. "I don't drink!"
"It's white wine. The alcohol content is very low, so it isn't intoxicating!" Right as he uttered those words, Nicholas instantly downed his entire glass. Realizing that it was wine and there wasn't much of it in the glass, Caroline then lifted her glass and took two sips. Surprisingly, she found it tolerable. Out of the blue, Caroline immediately swallowed it in a single gulp as she was emotionally affected by the incident earlier that night.
Nicholas' face creased into a frown as he was stunned by her actions. Never in his entire life had he met someone as foolish as Caroline! Besides the fact that she had come to the club alone, she even believed every single word he said. What if he gave her a glass of hard liquor, would she dare to consume it without thinking twice?
How did she even manage to live this long?
"So...Could you take me to Alicia's place?"
"Since you're part of the wealthy Clements family, why don't you call them over to pick you up? I could even give Frederick a call..."
As soon as Nicholas mentioned Frederick, Caroline immediately broke out in a cold sweat as she jolted off the sofa.
"No! No! Please don't tell my cousin about this. He'll definitely scold me if he finds out that I'm here!"
Involving Frederick in this matter would only make her more miserable. As long as Nicholas took her to Alicia's place, it would then be possible for her to conceal the truth and head back home without a single concern. Besides, Frederick was a short-spoken person and Alicia wasn't that close to her parents-in- law either. Caroline was absolutely certain that Alicia would keep her mouth sealed as long as she begged her to do so. With that, she would be able to get over this matter just like that.
It would have been too late if her parents discovered the truth later on. By that time, Caroline could casually come up with a random excuse for it and her parents wouldn't pursue the matter any further!
She was confident that her plan would work out!
"Cousin?" Was she Trevor's sister? If that's the case, why would she want him to take her to Alicia's place instead of her own house? Nicholas thought.
Seemingly comprehending the confusion in his eyes, Caroline then twirled her little hands and lowered her head.

He finally understood the truth once he heard Caroline's explanation. It was as if he was looking at his innocent little sister whom he had once taken care of in the past. Right then, Nicholas felt a pang of guilt in his heart.
No wonder she was so naive! She was the carbon copy of Alicia who had been well-protected during her schooldays. Besides that, she also spoke like a princess from a fairy tale who was utterly innocent!
Such a lady would only appear in a fortified wealthy family! Yet, Alicia who experienced an upheaval in her family and tons of hardships in her life, had already transformed into a completely different person. The current Alicia was brave and résolute, and she was capable of handling various issues on her own.
One could only imagine how much Alicia had suffered over the years! It was merely the first time Caroline had encountered a problem like that, so she should have maintained a positive outlook and innocence towards the world just as Alicia did.
Fortunately, Caroline was the same as Alicia. Both of them were lucky!
All of a sudden, Nicholas softened up as he said, "Sit down! I'll take you over once your wounds are treated."
As he took out his cell phone, Nicholas gave Alicia a call first and informed her about the entire situation.
On the other end of the phone, Alicia was stunned for a few seconds right as she heard those words. Truthfully speaking, Caroline and her had only met each other a couple of times. There wasn't any deep connections between the both of them!
As soon as she heard his explanation, Alicia nodded and said.
"So that's how it is! All right, send her over! Don't worry about it, I'm home alone. Frederick has a business party today, so he hasn't come home yet. I'll tell the maid to go back and get some rest..."
Continuously sticking her head out, Caroline somehow overheard Alicia's last few words. Right then, her pink lips curled into a smile. "Ngaw, Alicia is so kind! I'm so lucky that she's my sister-in-law!" She thought.
At that moment, Nicholas hung up the phone and said,
"Did you hear that? I'll take you there right now. You better not pretend to be a smart aleck next time! Nothing good willcome out of this filthy place, it's only filled with rotten scumbags. A courteous lady like you should never come to a place like
this!" Content belongs to
"If that's so, then why are you still in this business? You're more garrulous than my dad! No wonder you're called Mr. Nick instead of just Nick..." Caroline muttered as she pouted her lips. It was obvious that she was completely unconcerned.
Nicholas rolled his eyes and not said a single word. Soon after, he merely turned around and walked out of the room.
When the both of them arrived at the Promise Garden, Alicia was already waiting at the entrance. "Nicholas? Ah Caroline, it's really you! What's going on? How did you get into such a mess? Are you hurt?"
In the past, they mostly ran into each other at public cocktail parties. Thus, Caroline was slightly unaccustomed to Alicia that was concerned about her. She simply replied,
"It's no big deal! I accidentally scratched myself..."
As soon as she stepped out of the car, Nicholas gave her a sidelong glance before he said, "She wandered into the nightclub by mistake and was caught up by a few thugs for a while. She was frightened and didn't dare to go home alone!"
All of a sudden, a beam of headlights flashed at them while the three of them were talking. Caroline immediately sprang off the ground and instinctively hid behind Alicia.
"Frederick's back, isn't he?"
The next second, a black car gradually pulled over at the doorsteps. Speaking of the devil, Frederick had stepped out and noticed the entire scene. "You are here. Why are you all not going in?"
As soon as Frederick approached Alicia, Caroline instantly circled around and stood behind Nicholas once again.
