Chapter 321 Unfathomable Intent

Before Rachel could speak, Old Mrs. Jones sighed meaningfully. “If there’s a chance, you can go back and take a look.”

Upon hearing this, Rachel frowned imperceptibly.

Go back and take a look…

These words sounded like a kind invitation at first, but after thinking about it carefully, Rachel realized that it was more like she was asking her to return to her homeland!

With this thought in mind, Rachel instinctively continued to find out exactly what Old Mrs. Jones had just said.

If she was simply inviting her to Aureliana, why would Old Mrs. Jones use the phrase ‘go back‘?

Even though Old Mrs. Jones was old, she was not so muddle–headed that she could not understand the meaning of the phrase ‘go back‘.

As far as she could remember, she had never taken half a step into Aureliana.

Moreover, Aureliana’s rules were strict, and outsiders weren’t allowed to enter as they pleased.

Just when she was being puzzled, David sat beside her.

The man wrapped her in his cold aura, making Rachel’s heart skip a beat.

“What’s wrong?” David noticed that Rachel’s body stiffened for a moment. He held her hand and asked, “Are you feeling unwell?”

“No.” Rachel shook her head and instinctively shook off David’s hand.

In the dining

room, Old Mrs. Jones gestured for Rosie to scoop a bowl of soup for Rachel. “Girl, try this pumpkin soup,” she said.

“Thank you.” Rachel took the soup bowl with both hands and took a sip.

Her every move exuded an innate elegance.

Old Mrs. Jones stared at her intently and asked, “How is it? How does it

taste?”

Not bad,” Rachel said.

“This soup almost always appears on every family’s dining table in Aureliana.

Ordinary people find it hard to accept, but if you think it’s not bad, it means that there are inseparable ties between you and Aureliana.”

Upon hearing this, Rachel’s gaze became more inquisitive.

After the meal, Old Mrs. Jones got up and left to rest.

Rachel stood up and watched Old Mrs. Jones leave with a thoughtful expression.

“Is the food not to your liking?” David asked.

Rachel shook her head. She looked at her hand that was held by David and pursed her lips. After hesitating for a while, she could not help but ask, “Do you feel that everything Old Mrs. Jones has said

to me today seems to have a deep and unfathomable meaning?”

It was as if she was deliberately telling her something.

David’s lips curled into a smile. He held her hand and walked towards his villa. “Perhaps she hopes that you can marry me sooner.”

“Is that all?” Rachel muttered.

At this moment, Rachel’s phone suddenly rang. She took it out and saw that it was a call from the Smith family. An unclear coldness appeared in her eyes.

Since yesterday, the Smith family had not stopped calling. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

The reason that she did not block the Smith family’s contact number was not that she wanted to forgive them, but because she felt that she was not at fault. If she blocked them, it would seem like she was in the wrong.

The coldness in her eyes faded and she said, “I’m sorry. I have to take this.”

David stood on the spot and watched Rachel leave. Then, he looked back at Old Mrs. Jones’s courtyard.

He was surprised to find Old Mrs. Jones standing in front of the window, quietly looking at Rachel.

Old Mrs. Jones fiddled with the watch on her wrist as she looked at Rachel’s back and muttered to herself, “Why didn’t I recognize her? How could I not recognize her?”

“Old Mrs. Jones, it’s time to take your medicine,” Rosie said.

Old Mrs. Jones turned around and returned to the bed. She took the medicine and lay on the bed. However, she placed the watch in her hand on her chest and prayed in her heart, “Bless me for being able to protect your only bloodline in this world. I’m returning the favor you gave me back then.”
