Blind Date Turned Proposal

Chapter 1110 Taking Advantage Of Him

As Dexter raised his eyebrow, Josie continued, "In this world, there are no parents who do not love their children. Ruth cares for me, and she has saved me before. If we can find a way through her, everything will become simpler."

Listening, Dexter casually played with the green ivy leaves on the windowsill. "Are you certain Mr. Dalton will be influenced by a child?"

"Why wouldn't he be? I've said it before. There are no parents in this world who do not love their children. To defeat the enemy, one must first capture their leader. Once we have control over Mr. Dalton, everything will be negotiable with Arnold."

Josie quickly finished speaking, but upon witnessing Dexter's cold gaze, she abruptly stopped. Touching her lips, she realized her mistake. "I'm sorry. I wasn't referring to you."

The more she tried to hide something, the more obvious it became, which was exactly what her sentence did.

She sighed in frustration.

Dexter couldn't help but laugh. "I didn't take it personally."

She stood still, as if she was being punished with a time-out.

Dexter continued, "Mr. Dalton is no ordinary man, capable of reaching such heights. A child couldn't possibly control him, let alone Arnold, who he may not necessarily obey." Hearing this, Josie became somewhat anxious. "What should we do then?"

"Take advantage of me."

"What?" She thought she had misheard. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

Dexter had his back to her, fighting against the light, his silhouette clearly visible. "I have Edward in my hands. I can use him to threaten Arnold."

Josie thought, These two sworn enemies truly understand each other well. Even their methods are the same. "And then?"

"Use the information I provide to coax information out of Arnold."

"Why would he believe me? Paul has already been rescued."

Upon hearing that, Dexter paused for a moment. "I will find a way. In the meantime, you should leave the company under Lachlan's name."

Having worked at the company for two years, Josie immediately refused. "Why should I? I'm not leaving."

Dexter narrowed his eyes. "Were the benefits he gave you better than those from Russell Group? You seem to be so fixated on them."

"To be honest, there's really no one better than Russell Group," Josie forced a smile. "However, at least the boss is decent. He doesn't exploit me."

His expression visibly darkened. "Josie."

"Even if you were to ask me ten thousand times, my answer would remain the same."

After she finished speaking, she turned to leave. However, he swiftly grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his embrace. Dexter's aura was dangerously intense as he said, "I'll say it one more time. Leave his company."

She looked at him, each word deliberate. "I'll say it again. I'm not leaving."

Dexter lifted her chin.

"He did his best for me. I can't abandon him after receiving the help I needed once I return to my country. It goes against my principles in life." She responded with eloquence and wit.

Dexter was almost amused to the point of laughter by her. Did this woman truly not understand that Lachlan could leave her for money?

It was in that moment of deadlock that both individuals seemed to see their past selves.

Taken aback, Josie tried to push him away.

Dexter snapped back to reality, tightening his grip on her arm with increased force. "If there's no other way, then let it be this way."

Upon hearing his concession, Josie was taken aback. Their eyes met, and like a sudden surge of electricity, she quickly looked away. "What were you trying to accomplish?" Dexter let go of her. "Did you hear anything?"

Josie was confused.

"Grape is calling for you downstairs."

Josie listened carefully, and indeed, she heard it. She shot him an angry look before swiftly leaving the study.

Dexter watched her walk away with a satisfied half-smile, feeling extremely content with the situation.

The next day, as Josie headed to the hospital to visit Paul, he unexpectedly received a call from Lachlan. "What's going on?"

"There's a project that needs your personal attention. Do you have the time?" asked Lachlan.
