Chapter 1143 On The Same Boat
Larry had been consistently keeping tabs to ascertain who Arnold would arrange to meet Edward the next day.
Josie was also very curious.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Dexter blurted out, "Summer?"
Dexter guessed it right.
After a few seconds of silence from Larry, there was a hint of complaint in his voice. "How did you know? Who leaked the information?"
Josie hadn't expected his guess to be correct, leaving her utterly astonished.
Dexter wore a half-smile, watching her as he explained, "If you were to ask for Charles' position, even if it were Summer, anyone would have suspicions. Therefore, Arnold wouldn't rashly replace anyone, let alone go personally."
Larry was on the other end, momentarily confused. "Are you talking to me?"
Josie replied, "But even Laura doesn't know where Summer is. How would Arnold know?"
"Don't forget that they're in the same boat," Dexter said indifferently. "Perhaps these past two years, Summer has been by Arnold's side."
Josie became speechless. So? Is it a setup?
Josie couldn't begin to fathom just how cunning Arnold was.
"Arnold probably wouldn't have allowed her to go if he didn't trust her completely."
Josie couldn't dare to imagine even more. Dexter was considered to be even more cunning than Arnold.
Dexter then continued his conversation with Larry by asking, "Where is Summer now?"
"She's settled in one of Arnold's residences, appearing to be in good spirits."
"Just keep watching."
After Dexter hung up the phone, Josie was still confused. She simply sat down and mused, "Summer is not the biological daughter of the Olsen family. She was very sensitive about this status, but by that time, I had already left Wavery. Why didn't she fight for it anymore? Why did she let Laura and her family dominate?"
Zach was indeed capable of enduring humiliation for the sake of a higher objective.
Dexter patiently explained, "She has no reputation. She won't gain more by staying in the Olsen family. Your father..."
He paused before continuing, "Mark can't endure any flaws."
"I believe that if given a choice, Summer would not have sided with Arnold."
"Could there be a possibility that she had some leverage over him?"
Josie made a bold assumption, and quickly, something else came to her mind. "That's right. Rachel was with you initially. Where did she go afterward?"
When Rachel was mentioned, Dexter's expression was unreadable. "She's gone."
"Huh?"
"Someone had let her out during the shift change, and her whereabouts remain unknown to this day."
At this point, Dexter's voice had a hint of regret. "But what I can confirm is that she indeed leaked the initial exposure of Edward's location."
Josie had an unsettling premonition. "So, it's quite possible that Rachel is still working for Arnold?"
Dexter gave a slight nod. "About this matter, I apologize. It was me who didn't—"
Josie raised her hand before he could finish his sentence. "My punishment for her has already ended. I don't want to know what happened afterward, and you can't blame yourself, either." She still drew a clear distinction between personal and official affairs.
The two were engaged in conversation, positioned just opposite Morgan's residence. They happened to catch sight of him, bare-chested, as he moved from his room to the balcony, stretching languidly. Their six eyes met, and then everything came to an abrupt halt.
"Are you all out of your minds?" Morgan exclaimed as he woke up to the sight of them. "It's so early, and you're already sitting here, basking in the sun?" He couldn't help but curse out loud.
Josie couldn't help but laugh. "Dude, it's already ten o'clock. The sun is high up in the sky."
Morgan's mouth twitched, and he quickly grabbed a jacket to put on. "You guys weren't just sitting here waiting for me to wake up, were you?"
He's crazy... Dexter was the first to stand, returning to the room, while Josie, supporting Paul, also slowly made her way back.
"Hey!" Morgan cried out in helpless fury.
