Chapter 65 Leakage
Chapter 65 Leakage
As time went by, my life and work returned to a peaceful state and I became busier.
My relationship with my subordinates was still equal. I still didn't have the habit of ordering them, so I
personally sent the finished documents to Gavin.
But Gavin was out of the office, and I happened to meet the girl who came to send him the proposal. I
told her that Mr. Stone was out, and she said, "What should we do now? He really needs this proposal!"
"Then come back later. I bet he'll be back soon."
"No, I have to do a investigation later. I don't have time."
I thought for a moment and decided. "Then give it to me! I'll come back and give it to Mr. Stone later." Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
The girl felt relieved. "Thank you, Miss. Back. Thank you so much!"
I waved showing that it was just a piece of cake, and then turned to leave. Halfway there, I bumped into
Goran. He stopped me and said, "Come on, Darcey, no, Miss. Back. I have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Well, some rumors in the company caused inconvenience to you a while ago. I'm sorry. I've warned
Luke. And do not worry about it."
I acted as if I didn't care. "What's the big deal? I take no offense at a child's babble. Who cares about a
child's joke "
"That's good, that's good. Then... I'm fine. You may go back to your work."
After that, we parted. We haven't spoken for several days.
I gave my documents and the proposal to Gavin, but he didn't ask me anything. He just looked into it
and didn't say anything. I didn't bother him and was busy with my own business.
I thought my life would continue to be peaceful, and Gavin's work would become more excellent. We
were all so excited about the future, I was even thinking about telling my mom about all these things.
But Gavin suddenly got busy and hadn't come home for days.
The atmosphere in the company had been very depressing. Gradually, news came to our department.
Heidi said that a very important project of the company had been leaked recently.
I didn't know why, but I suddenly thought of the document I gave to Gavin that day. I asked, "What is
the proposal?"
"The one in Aurora."
My heart thumped. Indeed, I began to feel trepidation. Although I did not say anything. That document
was passed through my hands. I would come to ask me no matter what.
But it's nothing, I indeed really didn't do anything.
The news that the proposal had leaked was widely known. Gavin was furious about it. Although it was
not the final plan, the rival company still bid for it. No matter how we modify it, we had to do it all over
again.
I knew that Gavin was annoyed so I dared not to mess with him. In order to make it clear, the company
had formed an investigation team. Every day, someone was called in to ask questions, and everyone in
the company trembled with fear.
I was ready to be interrogated, but before I got the chance, a message came out saying that it was
Goran who did it.
I was very confused. How could it be possible? Goran was so honest that he didn't even dare to look at
Gavin. His mouth is also the strictest. How could he leak out proposal?
I didn't believe this rumor, and I didn't want to discuss it with others. When someone asked me, I only
said I didn't know. My refusal to talk soon attracted other people's attention. I think so. He once had a
gossip with me. If I found him, it will implicate me.
Gavin was noncommittal about this. The scandal between Goran and I was enough to give him a
headache. He would rather not believe this kind of news.
What will come will come eventually. Someone informed me to go to the conference room for
investigation.
I took a deep breath and walked into the meeting room.
In the middle was the temporary chief of the investigation team, Isla. In the corner was Gavin. I haven't
seen him for many days, and I didn't expect to see him under such circumstances. He was high above
me, and I was as humble as dust.
Isla asked, "What's your relationship with Goran?"
I replied in no hurry, "We're colleagues."
"I heard that you two are on good terms?"
"Just a little more familiar than the others in the finance department."
"I heard that it was you who handed the document over to Mr. Stone. Have you seen the contents
before handing it over to Mr. Stone?"
"No, I don't."
Isla nodded. "Yes, you didn't get close to the duplicator that day, did you?"
"Yes."
"Do you have a boyfriend?" Isla suddenly questioned her in another way, which increased my vigilance.
"Actually, I'm already engaged. I didn't want to be gossiped about in the past."
"Can you tell me who your fiance is?"
"I can't comment on this. Anyway, he's not an employee of the Stone family."
"Then why are you afraid of gossip?" Isla suddenly became aggressive.
I couldn't help stuttering a little. "My... my fiance has a special social status. I am afraid that he will be
known by others."
"Really? Then why is there a scandal about you and Goran in the company?"
"I don't know either. It may be because Mr. Eastwood's child Luke has some childish words which was
overheard by my collegues. It's easy for adults to be oversensitive."
"Really? But as far as I know, you've already had a rumor in Aurora, haven't you?"
"I don't know about that."
"I heard that you brought men's clothes in your suitcase. You said you brought them for others, but later
when Goran came to borrow them, you gave them to him, and you didn't ask him to give the clothes
back. Why?"
"I..." I looked up at Gavin, but he was looking elsewhere.
Isla continued to ask, "I also heard that on the first day you arrived in Aurora, someone knocked on
your door. Without you, no one knows where you went. However, the key issue is that no
one answered at his door. So, where were you at that time?"
I still looked at Gavin. I couldn't answer this question. Gavin finally couldn't bear it anymore. He looked
at me and shouted. "Enough, change the next one."
I slightly bowed and walked straight out of the conference room. When I walked out of the door, I was a
little weak. I couldn't understand the meaning of Gavin. I couldn't see through him before, but now I still
couldn't understand him.
When I got back to my office, everyone came to ask me about it. I smiled bitterly. "It's just like
interrogating prisoners."
"Then, what's the matter?"
"No, I don't."
"But you didn't make that project..." Someone gave the reckless little girl a shove.
I smiled and pretended not to care. "No, I just make it clear. After all, I really didn't do anything."
