Chapter 721
Nina never wanted to hear those words. They made her uncomfortable, but she still said, "Do you think I can't survive without you? While you were with Miranda, I lived just fine. If you're worried about the baby, I have friends and parents. He'll be born healthy without you worrying."
Her tone was resolute.
Nash was worried about her future. Being with him now was happy, but what if one day he wasn't himself anymore, becoming a beast that could harm her? That would be the worst pain for her.
Though reluctant, he had to consider the reality of their situation. Seeing Nina's cold expression, he worried that his decision might be wrong, potentially causing her harm.
"Are you going back to your parents'?" Nash asked calmly.
"Yes," Nina replied.
Nash glanced at her belly. "You can go back, but take care of yourself and avoid getting hurt. Don't wander around too much to avoid danger. I can't promise I'll be there when the baby is born, but I will ensure you both are well taken care of."
Nina expected him to say something comforting, but his words sounded like a farewell, leaving her confused. Furrowing her brows, she asked, "What do you mean by that?"
"I won't stop you from going back," Nash said flatly. "Yvonne can take you, but I'll also have someone follow to ensure you get there safely."
His words did not address the real issue, nor did they comfort her. This only made her angrier.
"Fine, then get out of the way!" Nina's tone was icy.
Nash wisely stepped back, and Nina slammed the car door shut. She refused to look at him, staring coldly ahead.
Yvonne, feeling like an invisible bystander, thought Nash would convince Nina to stay. After all, he had chased after her, indicating he cared. But the outcome was bewildering. As the cars moved aside, clearing the way, Yvonne drove slowly.
Nina tried to act like she did not care, but deep down, she cared a lot. She wondered how much Nash loved her and what he would
sacrifice for her. It seemed like she
got no answers.
Unable to help herself, she glanced at the rearview mirror, the only place where she could see him without his knowing.
She saw Nash standing there, watching their car with a look of longing.
This sight almost broke her. Her heart ached with love for him, making the pain more acute. She wanted to look away, but her eyes couldn't. She watched him untichis figure disappeared, yet she still wanted to see him.
Even a simple plea for her to stay would have been enough.
But there was nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
Nina leaned back against the seat, feeling a sudden weakness wash over her.
"You're clearly not ready to leave him, so why say those things? He was about to take you back," Yvonne said, noticing Nina's reluctance to leave Nash.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
Nina sighed. "Maybe I'm just being
difficult. Women seek attention from
the men they love, and sometimes that means acting out. If he cares, it's justified. If he doesn't, you just end up looking like a fool. That's me now. I'm nothing. He'd rather watch me leave than ask me to stay."
