Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 146

Bon

Hector POV

I was pacing the hospital room once more, thinking back on the surge I felt through my bond with Kaia when at the council hearing. Did it mean what I thought it meant.

"What is it?" Alora sighs out loud, pushing her untouched tray of food away from her.

"Nothing that can't wait." I pull my phone out of my trouser pocket to check the time. Shouldn't Beckett have woken by now...

"Well, right now I have all the time in the world, try me I might be able to help."

I scoff without meaning to, not out loud anyway.

"Hector..." She presses, giving me a pointed look.

"During the council hearing, I felt a surge through the bond with Kala. Like...it had become more powerful. I abandoned the hearing, I came here... the council are at the door, pissed off I didn't return. Not helping the current situation with Alpha Marc. Not keeping their eyes off my pack."

"Kala rejected Than..." She touches her forehead.

"Yes..I assumed as much."

"And you felt it?"

"Not the rejection as such, but it's as if my connection to her has been supercharged. No longer split between two entities."

Two entities..." She whispers as she looks down at the cannula sticking out of the back of her hand before looking back up at me.

Maybe I should have chosen my words more carefully

"You love her!" Her words weren't a question but a statement.

This was beyond odd. Discussing the bond with her sister, a person that I once thought was meant for me. How wrong I had been.

T

Would it be cruel to admit that I have fegs for her sister, would it be cruel to say that I have had them all along.

I just didn't know back then. Blinded by anger and revenge....how could I deserve someone as pure as Kaia

"Yes, I think I have for some time. Even before knowing what she was to me. Her cutting the bond with Than has only deepened my fegs for her." I honestly answers, blowing air out from my cheeks. I had always promised not to lie to Alora, she deserved the truth. "You need to reject me!" She demands

firmly.

Yes, yes I do.

"I will, when you are recovered and the doctor discharges you." I nod in agreement.

The question would then be, how long until Kala accepted me... If she did.

I knew Kaia's character, she was selfless...unyielding in her protection of those she loved and considered close to her. Would she ever accept the man that rejected her sister....What twisted game is the Moon Goddess playing with me...

"I'll be fine, it's the right thing to do." She shakes her head, pulling the canula out of her arm...preparing herself.

"A clean slate between us Hector. I shall be your sister-in-law, I shall be your friend. That is what the moon goddess has planned for us, I see it clearly now. Come on reject me." She cracks her next jokingly, a laugh escaping me. She joins in on my chuckle until the laughter between us stops.

"She will need you Hector, she is strong...but she puts others first. You must put her above all others." I hadn't rejected her yet but she was already acting as the protective sister of my mate.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

I would, I would think of Kaia above all others. Even when she didn't know, I would be acting for her... protecting her. Even if it needed to be from the shadows.

Isit myself at the end of the hospital bed, I felt as if I shouldn't be standing.

I reach out, taking Alora's hand within mine before I start.

"1, Hector Varon, Alpha of the Dark Phantom pack reject you, Alora Glace, as my mate."

"I, Alora Glace, reject you Alpha Hector Varon as my mate and in doing so, accept your rejection."

I feel the bond between us break, the bond that had been thinned down...finally wither away.

It's a relief grander than I expected.

To only have one bond, to now feel the bond only with Kaia. To feel that mate bond that should have only been there from the start.

I wonder if she'll feel my breaking of the bond like I did of hers with Than.
