Chapter 43.
“I’m not feeding you today, you’ll do that yourself.” That’s Vanessa’s voice sounding so loud to Chloe’s hearing.
She smiled and nodded. “I can do it, of course. Okay, you think that I can’t do that right. I’ve been doing that myself before you started this work.” She replied and laid on the bed.
Nessa glanced at her and finally returned the smile, this little girl won’t stop acting comedy for her all the time.
She isn’t in the mood of jabbering with her at the moment, all she needs to do is the needful and get her foot out of their house.
“Your teacher didn’t tell you any story today, because you haven’t told me any.” She referred to her while so busy with her cell phone.
“Leave that to me. I am not telling you stories today.” She lifted her face gazing at her. “Not until you feed me.” She giggled.
Nessa glanced at her and hissed. “But you claimed to do that yourself now. Isn’t it?”
“Yes I did, but I love it when you feed me. You know I do feed myself at noon.” Chloe replied.
She got on her feet. “I’ll go meet Chloe in the kitchen, I’m very sure she must have been done with the meal by now.”
Chloe affixed her gaze on her until she left the room, she picked up her story book and began going through it again.
This time it’s all about folks, but she isn’t planning to talk about folks. Meanwhile, she’s gonna transform it in a way that would match with what she has in mind.

Vanessa twitched into the kitchen like one being chased by a bear, she caught Tracy leaning her forehead on the wall.
What’s wrong with her? Is she alright or just stressed up? These questions she couldn’t provide an answer for.
She moved closer to her trying to tap her shoulder, but stepped backwards again.
“She might yell at me. I don’t want anyone to spoil my mood this evening.” she thought and swallowed. “I think I should just request for Chloe’s meal and leave with it… she isn’t aware that I’m here by the way.”
Vanessa kept contemplating over and over again, she had known Tracy to be that strict type towards her, though she doesn’t mind… but this time, the inner of her doesn’t need to be in a dark mood.
She stood there for over sixty seconds staring at Tracy who wasn’t making a turn. She glanced around to find out that she’s done with the meal but it isn’t served yet.
Her mind was filled up this time, she can’t keep standing watching at the girl when she needs to leave soon.
She began gathering courage to call for her attention. All she wants now is Chloe’s meal… nothing else.
“Tracy…” she called her for the first time after so many minutes she came in.
Tracy didn’t make a move, she felt like her voice wasn’t that loud to her hearing or whatever.
She moved closer to her this time and tapped her back. “I want to take Chloe’s meal, where’s it?” She uttered, but the girl sniffed, raising her head… the next was to wipe her face with her palms.
“You can take the meal from the pot yourself.” Tracy uttered, facing her.
She narrowed her eyes while staring at her. “You’re crying? What’s wrong?” She inquired trying to touch her shoulder.
But she stepped backwards waving her left palm on her face. “You don’t need to worry about me, I’m okay. Just take the meal and leave.”
She shook her head in disgust. “Tracy you can’t keep acting this way, your eyes are puffy and reddish.. yet you claim to be okay. Look, feel free to share your problems with me.”
“I don’t share my problems with anyone, I keep it to myself alone. So please Miss, take the meal and leave the kitchen.” Tracy stated.
She shuddered. “If you persist, then I’ll let you be.”
Vanessa moved to the pot after taking Chloe’s dish with her, she filled the plate as usual.
As she was trying to leave, she noticed Tracy was sobbing bitterly that it was hidden any longer. She placed the food on the table aside and moved towards her.
She gripped her palm making her turn to face her, the girl couldn’t help but fall into her arms in deep pain.
Vanessa began caressing her back while comforting her, but she sobbed heavier.
Despite all her comforts, she couldn’t stop weeping… Nessa decided to take her into her room and that she did. They both climbed the stairs while she left Chloe’s meal aside.
She sat beside her on the bed still comforting her. Her tears had already soaked up her clothes, but she wasn’t stopping.
“Tell me the problem Tracy, why are you sobbing bitterly this way?” She questioned her.
She lifted her face and began wiping the tears on her cheek, her eyes focused on the wall opposite the bed.
“You aren’t saying anything Tracy? Did anyone hurt you?” She asked her again.
She glanced at her and sniffed. “I miss my mother. I want her back to me. It’s really heartbreaking that she’s no more.”
Vanessa bit her lips, she understood how the girl felt. Living a life without a mother is kind of hurting. Talk more of the kids losing her in an early stage.
“My classmate molested me because of that, she bullied me and cursed me for being a motherless child because I refused to give her my answer script. She accused me of being the reason for my mother’s death.” She started again.
Vanessa was right in her shoes this time, facing the pain of being accused that you’re behind what you know nothing about. That’s so painful that it can damage someone’s identity.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“You need to wipe everything off your mind and focus on your education. She’s sad because you will never let her take your position all in the name of being a friend.” She cuddled her into her arms running her fingers in her hair.
Tracy rested her head on her chest feeling relaxed, she wished not to let her go again.
“Even without a mother, you are a heroine and will be so great in the future. The soul of your mother will never leave you apart… she’s always with you all.” She comforted her.
She stared into her eyes letting another stream of tears roll down. “Thank you so much ma’am Vanessa, I really appreciate it.”
Vanessa smiled letting her rest on her shoulder, she was so shocked seeing her address her that way for the first time.
She caressed her back.
“I’ll go get your meal okay.” Nessa uttered.
She let her go after which she returned with it, and then left with that of Chloe to her room.
“I’ve been waiting for you all this while.” Chloe uttered on sighting her.
She smiled and got seated. “I was with Tracy in her room.”
“Huh! She allowed you to be with her?”
She nodded. “Yes, that’s by the way… take your meal.”
Chloe got seated and began eating her meal. A knock came on the door and Vanessa left to find out who’s there.
She let the door open to see that it’s Ben.
“Good evening ma’am Vanessa.” He greeted her.
She nodded and responded to the greeting.
“Ma’am Vanessa, I did as you ordered me today and it really worked out. To be honest, I’m the happiest. Thank you so much for being there for me.” He appreciated it.
Nessa nodded to that, she had been wanting to see them all in a good mood… talk more of getting their heart.
“It’s okay. I’m glad to see you in this exciting mood.” She smiled at him. “Have you taken your meal?”
He shook his head. “I haven’t.”
“I’ll go get it now okay.” She assured him and left for the kitchen.
Ben turned immediately and left to Tracy’s room to get her to eat too. “You never told me you were done with the meal already, and here you’re enjoying yours.”
“Ma’am Vanessa got it for me here..
She’s so kind and caring.” She uttered with her head bent low.
Ben tapped her leg. “I spoke to Melissa today and she was even the one who expressed how she loved me but didn’t know how to tell me.”
“She agreed huh?” Tracy questioned.
He nodded. “Yes, I’m so happy about that.”
Tracy smiled. “So her advice worked out, I’m so in love with her.”
“More than Chloe?”
She giggled. “Maybe, I just wish dad will…” she shut her lips.
Ben nodded. “I see, you thought I didn’t get your point?”
“I know you’ll get it, she will make a good mother.” She added.
He heard his name being called out by Vanessa, he dashed out of the room to meet Vanessa at the corridor with her meal.
He took the meal from her with appreciation and then left back to Tracy’s room to join her.
Vanessa left to Chloe’s room again, to get that she’s done with the meal.
“I’ll bath myself.” The little girl uttered coming down from the bed with the empty plate.
Vanessa stood at a place watching her as she kept the plate on the table, undressed herself and twitched into the bathroom.
