I will help you…
Demelza sat down, eager to hear what Nathan had to say.
“Erm, I have decided to help you with your father’s case.” Nathan said with a straight face.
Demelza gave him a puzzled look wondering where that came from.
“Help me understand you Nathan.” Deeza said to him with a confused look.
“You heard me.” He said not understanding her own point of view.
She didn’t stress about it but instead she nodded. “Okay” she said after nodding.
“But the way,” Nathan said
“Uh, yeah?” Demelza responded as she waited to hear what Nathan wanted to say.
“Do you have anything incriminating against Hampton?” Nathan asked her.
“What do you mean.?” she asked him confused.
“You both dated for a few years right? During that time, is there anything he must have done that is against the rule? Something we can use against him.” Nathan asked her with hope that she would know something or even remember something.
“Nah, Nothing at all.” Demelza said unable to think of anything.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
While she and Hampton were together, he made sure he was very careful with everything he did and he kept a lot from Demelza.
“Alright then. That will be all.” Nathan told her.
“I assume I can go back to my desk now right?” She asked him, feeling uncomfortable.
“Yes please.” Nathan responded.
Demelza walked out immediately to her desk without wasting any time. Nathan noticed how edgy she was but he didn’t want to overthink it. He shrugged his shoulders and checked his schedule for the day.
He smiled as he was happy about the fact that he didn’t have too much on his schedule.
‘nice work Demelza’s he muttered to himself.
Demelza sat on her chair pondering on why Nathan would tell her he was going to help her. She thought he was already doing that so it got her wondering why he said so. She could feel sweat on her forehead from feeling uncomfortable about that.
And to crown it all, asking her about her knowledge of anything incriminating against Nathan sort of threw her off balance. She got up from her desk to ask him but then paused as she realized she didn’t even give it a thought before getting up.
She leaned against her desk with her legs crossed, her right hand folded over her chest and her left hand under her chin thinking about it all.
“Hey” Nathan called out peeping but Demelza was startled by it. She was lost in thoughts and she didn’t hear Nathan footsteps as he approached.
“Everything okay?” He asked her because he noticed how startled she was from the sound of his voice.
Yeah, sure. Everything is fine, I’m fine.” She responded with a little bit of stutter.
“You sure? Cos I mean” he said with his brows up. “You do not look okay. In Fact you are jumpy.” Nathan said, waiting for a valid explanation about her sudden switch in body movement.
“I’m fine Nathan, I said I’m fine.” She said faking a smile but a little bit of temper was laced on her voice.
“Fine then.” He said, raising his hand in surrender. “Don’t go home alone. Wait for me, I’ll drop you off.” Nathan said.
“Errr, is everything okay?” Demelza asked curious about what that was about.
“Demelza, please. Just say okay and tell me you’ll wait.” Nathan said.
“What is this about? You have been weird Nathan.” Demelza said to him.
“No you have been weird Demelza. You suddenly became edgy.” Nathan said, trying so hard to keep his voice low.
“No, you are weird. You have been asking me weird questions.” Demelza said to him with her eyes wide and voice almost in a whisper.
“Just do as I say.” Nathan said and walked back to his office.
Demelza mouthed why he said in a mocking way, feeling annoyed with Nathan’s attitude.
“So bossy” she said and rolled her eyes as she sat on her chair.

Hours passed by quickly and the sun was already setting. Its orange glow illuminated the office and its rays reflected on her face, making her look up at the window.
“Damn, how did I lose track of time.” She asked herself rhetorically seeing how far spent time was.
She hurriedly tried to finish up what she was doing so that she would be able to go home on time.
She wrapped everything up in about fifteen minutes and hurriedly packed up to leave. Immediately she finished packing up, and made her way to the elevator.
She got into the elevator and pressed the button on the last floor. She felt so famished and tired that the only thing on her mind was food and her bed.
When she got to the main exit, she noticed the door did not open automatically which was weird. She pressed the button by the side hoping it would open as she concluded it must have been a technical issue.
She paused seeing that it didn’t open. She was left with no choice but to go through the underground park. She walked there and it was all creepy as the lights were dim and some were flickering.
She wasn’t someone who likes the dark so she increased her pace.
While walking, she noticed she heard footsteps that weren’t hers. She paused and turned back to see who it was but she didn’t see anything.
She shrugged her shoulders and concluded she must have heard wrongly and it must have been her imagination. She continued walking and this time, her pace was fast almost like she was going to run.
She felt someone following her and as she tried to turn to see who it was, she felt a firm hand pull her to the side and his palm covered her mouth to stop her from screaming.
She felt her heart in her mouth that instant as she thought about the worst. She slowly opened her tight shut eyes to see who it was that she wasn’t harmed.
Her shoulders dropped from seeing Nathan’s eyes locking in her. “I told you to wait for me.” He told her in a whisper.
She mouthed “I’m sorry” as she remembered what he had told her.
“Stay still.” He instructed her and this time, she didn’t think about questioning him. She stood as still as she could and waited for him even though she trembled in terror.
Nathan walked around to see who it was but he couldn’t find anyone. It seemed like whoever was following her, had disappeared.
“BOOM!” he startled her and it sure got to her as she shook terribly and almost passed out from the shock but he held her stopping her from reaching the floor.
