Falling For The Contract Bride Chapter 313

Chapter 313

Chapter 313 You Know My Husband?

Mu Zhi saw that Xie Xiu was calling her and hurriedly looked for her phone charger only to find out that she did not bring it. She could only go borrow a charger from the front desk.

Mu Zhi chest clenched as she searched before finally giving up and dressing herself, hoping that it wasn’t too obvious that she wasn’t wearing any underwear. She went downstairs and looked for an employee only to realize that she couldn’t charge her phone with the provided charger as the port was different.

She had no choice but to give up. She turned only to see Lu Jinye sitting on the couch.

The rain was slowing, and it was cold. Lu Jinye’s clothes were still damp and the hall was airy, which made it even colder.

Mu Zhi walked over to Lu Jinye reluctantly and did not have the heart to leave him outside, “You may return to the room.”

Lu Jinye looked up at Mu Zhi, “You’re not scared?”

“I trust that you can control yourself.”

Mu Zhi would not have thought about it if he had not brought it up. She would have been happy if they pretended nothing had happened.

But Lu Jinye had to say it.

There was no other meaning to what he said, but the way Mu Zhi answered drove it in further.

Their exchange became filled with implications then.

Mu Zhi blushed at her own response.

Lu Jinye looked at Mu Zhi and stood up, “It’s too breezy here. Let’s go.”

He went ahead and called for the elevator. Mu Zhi quickly followed behind him and entered the elevator with him.

But when the doors closed with only the both of them inside, the air grew heavy with tension.

It was as if she couldn’t help but blush just by standing next to him.

All she could do was to take a step away from Lu Jinye to keep a distance.

They arrived at their room. Mu Zhi entered, and Lu Jinye followed her.

Mu Zhi wanted to take of her clothes but felt awkward doing it.

She looked at Lu Jinye and said, “We’ll each use one side of the blanket. You take that corner and I’ll take the other. My clothes aren’t wet.”

Mu Zhi was afraid that Lu Jinye might misunderstand and quickly added, “Don’t worry. I won’t be sleeping. Nothing will happen between us.”

Lu Jinye listened to her hasty explanation and laughed.

He smiled at Mu Zhi, “Do you think that I’m worried that something will happen between us?”

Mu Zhi blushed at Lu Jinye’s question.

She frowned and glared at Lu Jinye before crawling under the blanket.

Thankfully both the bed and blanket were large enough for the both of them.

The both of them were at opposite sides and did not touch each other.

Mu Zhi turned off the lights and stared unblinkingly into the darkness.

Lu Jinye had much to say, but he couldn’t be too aggressive with her. He cherished the hard-won quietness and closeness between them.

He was afraid that anything more would scare her away and stayed silent all night.

Mu Zhi felt an extraordinary sense of peace and quiet just lying there.

The sun rose and the sky brightened. Sometime during the night, the rain had stopped. Lu Jinye’s clothes were dry but Mu Zhi’s underwear were still wet.

Mu Zhi told Lu Jinye about it in embarrassment. Lu Jinye told her to stay in the room while he left.

After around half an hour, he returned.

He handed her a bag. In it was not only some underwear but an entire outfit as well.

Mu Zhi was taken aback. She thanked him, grabbed the bag, and went into the bathroom.

She couldn’t help but be puzzled when she put on the underwear.

Lu Jinye had bought her exact size.

Did he know her measurements?!

Good lord! This man!

She had only been exposed for a short while last night and he had figured out her sizes?

He was clearly a man of experience.

She quickly changed into the clothes and walked out.

Her face was apple red but didn’t say much, just, “Let’s go.”

Lu Jinye quickly followed her.

Mu Zhi was adorable when she blushed.

She looked like an innocent girl in that state.

Lu Jinye thanked the heavens for giving him an opportunity to meet Mu Zhi at her innocence.

They both got on the car and Lu Jinye began driving back to City A. “When we arrive, you can come to my house to charge your phone. I have your phone’s charging port.”

Mu Zhi looked at her phone, mortified. The screen was dark and would not even turn on.

She said, “Thanks, but no thanks. When we arrive in the city, just send me home.”

Lu Jinye frowned and asked her seriously, “Are you that afraid of me? That reluctant to spend more time with me?”

Mu Zhi glanced at Lu Jinye quickly from the corner of her eye. “I apologize, Mr. Lu. If we were both single, then there would be no issue. But I have a family. I need to be responsible for my husband and my child.”

Mu Zhi’s reply was like a statement.

She did not answer his question as to spending more time with him.

Nor getting to know him more.

Lu Jinye didn’t mind. He chuckled at said, “Then can I know what kind of person your husband is?”

“He’s a responsible man. The complete opposite of you.”

Mu Zhi rejected Lu Jinye with every word.

Lu Jinye did not get upset. He smiled at Mu Zhi, “So in your eyes, I look like an irresponsible man?”

Mu Zhi did not respond.

She did not mean to upset him, but he seemed to always tug on her heartstrings.

She had said those things carelessly to regain control.

When they arrived in City A, Lu Jinye sent Mu Zhi home after failing convince her.

The address she told him was for the house in the neighboring area.

Lu Jinye didn’t realize until they reached Xie Xiu’s house.

He was stunned. “Your husband is Xie Xiu?”

Mu Zhi was taken aback. “Do you know my husband?” She replied.
