Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 511

Right now, she felt absolutely awful. Her whole body was drained of energy, and she hadn't had a proper rest in ages. The second her head hit the pillow, sleep washed over her like a wave. She gently kicked Ray with her foot, her movements soft and delicate.

"Ray, you're such a pain."

Her voice was tinged with a mix of helplessness and frustration, lacking its usual sharpness. It was almost like a whisper, airy and, surprisingly, carried a hint of playfulness.

Ray's throat tightened.

He looked down at her, her eyes now closed, took a deep breath, and pushed down the surge of desire rising within him before getting up from her side.

Aisha's breathing was still a bit erratic as she slept, like she wasn't resting easily.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Ray stayed by her side, waiting until her breathing became more steady before turning off the light and quietly leaving the room.

He first cleaned up the unfinished meal, then settled into the office chair, opening the documents Aisha hadn't had a chance to get to yet.

After a while, his brow furrowed.

There was so much work, and it was all over the place.

No wonder Aisha was so busy she couldn't even find time to eat.

"Aisha."

Gregory walked in, carrying a stack of documents. He paused when he saw Ray at the desk, his expression changing drastically once he recognized him. "Uncle Wade, long time no see.”

Ray's lips curled into a slight, indifferent smile, one that didn't reach his eyes. It was cold and detached.

Gregory stood frozen, as if his feet were glued to the floor.

It felt like a fish bone was lodged in his throat, his face turning a shade of purple as he struggled to find his voice.

It took a moment for him to fully realize that the person in front of him was indeed Ray.

"Wade."

He forced out a nervous chuckle, his eyes filled with caution.

"What's that you're holding?"

"Just some routine documents..."

"Let me see."

Reluctantly, Gregory handed over the documents to Ray.

Ray flipped through them casually, then a cold light flashed in his eyes.

Hmph.

These old fools.

Dumping all this on Aisha, are they trying to work her to death?

"Uncle Wade, you seem to have a lot of free time?"

He closed the documents with a heavy thud on the desk.

Gregory tensed up, unsure of Ray's motives.

"Handing off minor tasks to Aisha, enjoying your hands-off management style, huh?"

"Wade, that's not what I..."

"If you think you're too old for your current position, maybe it's time to retire and enjoy your golden years at home."

"Wade, you've got it wrong. Aisha's only been with the company for a few months and is still getting the hang of things. Handling these basic documents can help her get a better and quicker grasp of how to manage the company, so I..."

Gregory was cautious, his face filled with an apologetic smile.

Even though Ray was currently at odds with the Brimer family, he was still the most esteemed young master and the future heir of the Brimer family.

He wasn't about to go head-to-head with Ray.

"Don't give me that. I know exactly what you're like." Ray scoffed. "Starting from the bottom, is it? Translate these documents into English, not a single letter wrong, and don't even think about going home until you're done."

He handed Gregory a thick stack of documents.

The documents he handed over were routine, not involving any major projects.

Gregory looked at the stack, feeling a wave of despair. His English was terrible. Asking him to translate these was like a death sentence.

"Alright, I'll start translating."

Gregory, holding the documents, prepared to leave, planning to call his secretary to help with the translation.

But Ray had already anticipated his plan. As Gregory turned to leave, Ray said, "Where do you think you're going? Do it right here. I'll watch you."
