Chapter 586
"Are you saying we've been poisoned?" Crimson, feeling a bit better but still weak, asked with a trembling voice.
Flora nodded. "It must be those bastards from the medical organization!"
Crimson's eyes flared with anger. "Who else could have done this? I kicked them out, and they couldn't stand it, so they saw their chance to take revenge! I'm going to confront them right now!"
"I'll go," Flora said, gently pushing her back. "You stay at the villa. If anything happens, call me. I'll take Connor with me."
Knowing Connor would be with Flora eased Crimson's worries. Besides, someone needed to stay and manage things at the villa. "Be careful, and take more people with you."
With tensions high, others were convinced that Crimson and her group were behind the poisoning because of past incidents. They knew Flora's deep ties with Club 257, and Crimson feared they would target Flora in their rage.
"Got it," Flora said with a nod, pulling Connor along as they left.
...
In the corridor, everyone from the medical organization was fine, except for Selene. Susan looked at Selene, struggling with her pain, and sneered. Serves her right for insisting on going to the hall!
Mr. Atticus examined Selene's condition. The poison in her system was peculiar. "Mr. Atticus, please, you have to help us!" A commotion erupted as people from various factions hurried over, relieved to see Mr. Atticus and his group still there. There was still hope for a cure!
"Mr. Atticus, we all felt ill after waking up. You're a top figure in the medical field, capable of curing even the most baffling diseases. Please, can you treat us?"
Mr. Atticus, despite not having a solution for this particular poison - only able to offer temporary relief - wouldn't admit his inability in front of everyone. Moreover, this was a golden opportunity. He was determined to make the people from Club 257 regret crossing him.
"You've all been poisoned too," Mr. Atticus said, frowning deeply. "My apprentice became like this after attending the banquet last night. Oddly enough, those of us who didn't go to the banquet are fine." His implication couldn't be clearer. Someone quickly put two and two together.
"Mr. Atticus, are you saying we've been poisoned? I knew it had to be Club 257's doing! They must have poisoned us!"
"Not necessarily... It seems the people from Club 257 have been poisoned as well," someone countered. Club 257 had always had a good reputation, never involved in wrongdoing, so even in this dire situation, some were willing to believe in Club 257's innocence.
"Mr. Atticus, can you cure us or not?" Elio asked calmly from the crowd. He had been poisoned too but was enduring the pain well. Despite the intense discomfort, it was hardly noticeable, except for his muscles twitching slightly. He hadn't brought Nina out, choosing instead to lock her in her room. The child's constitution was different; exposing her might cause lasting harm. He had no interest in the feud between the medical organization and Club 257. He just wanted to know if the poison could be cured.
Mr. Atticus smiled. "As you all know, the medical organization has the capability to deal with any poison. There's nothing we can't cure in this world."
Hearing this, everyone's eyes lit up, their bodies trembling with excitement. There was hope for them yet! However, Mr. Atticus spoke again. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
