Finn’s POV

Vanessa leaned forward and smiled. “Don’t you miss me?” She whispered.

“Miss you?” I scoffed, tilting my head away from him. “What the heck! Bold of you to say that. It’s not like there was anything special between us. We were never in a relationship, now get that into your skul! l” I moved away.

“No darling. We fvcked. Didn’t we?” She uttered discreetly and smirked. “Not once, not twice, not three times. You were always looking for me once you got to the club, I am the only one that satisfied your s*xual urge” She pointed, looking down like I wasn’t putting on trousers.

“Shhhh! You have become my past now Vanessa” I shushed “You were never a relationship material, nor are you a marriage material. I didn’t even know that you came from a great great background, you were always at the hotel or club, ready for hook up and ready for one night stand with some Mr Anonymous” I tackled her but she didn’t feel a single hint of shame.

“And what about you? You are the CEO of this company? I can’t believe it. I never knew you were from a good background either, you bad bad boy!” She fired back and laughed hysterically.

“That was in the past. We are done” I was about to walk out of the room when she said.

“We cannot cheat fate. We are meant to be together, forever”

“Fate my foot!” I stumped my foot against the ground and raised my voice.

She needed to understand that I was dead serious.

“Finn, I gave you my body not because I was a slut or something, but because I was in love with you, I still do but you never saw me as a lover” She looked pathetic.

“Giving a guy your body won’t make him love you especially if he never did. That’s a piece of an advise I’m giving to you for free and I’m sorry about your feelings. I am in relationship, I love someone else. Please go now, tell your parents the contract marriage won’t work” And with that, I walked away.

Rita’s POV

I returned to Finn’s office again for the third time because I saw when his visitors left the company which meant that the meeting has ended.

“Finn is not on seat” Charles said when he caught me peeping through the window.

“Oh, Okay. Thank you” I moved away from the window.

“Come on in Rita” Charles opened the door.

“You want me to come in? Why?”

I wondered what business we’ve got together. None, actually.

“Can I talk to you for a second?”

I nodded, and finally walked in, towards him.

He smiled heartily; “If I may ask, don’t you notice something strange about me?”

“Strange? Ugh! Not at all” I shook my head.

He continued smiling; “You are so pretty, that I forgot my pick up lines. Oops! I… I’m so bad at pick up lines” He stuttered, feeling awkward.

I giggled. He was only being dramatic.

“Okay, here’s one. If I had a rose for everytime I thought of you, I would be walking through my garden forever” He stated.

I faked a smile: “That’s…uhm nice, nice line.. uhm?” I felt so uncomfortable around him especially when I realised what he was tryna insinuate.

Could he please let me leave now?

“I told you I had something to tell you, remember?”

“Oh yeah!”

“You don’t seem curious to know what it is” He mumbled.

“Err … I have alot on my mind, and I’ve been so busy with work..” I lied.

He really expected me to be eager to hear what he has to say? If it was so serious, he would have said it right away.

He moved closer to me and held my hand, placed it on his chest. “Can you feel my heart beat? Steady thrump! Thrump!” He flirted with me.

“Are you ill?” I pretended to be naive.

“C’mon Rita” He pulled me for a hug in such a way that my my head rested on his chest. He’s way taller than I am.

“I’m in love with you” He confessed. “That’s why I’m always smiling whenever I see you, your presence alone brighten up day” He said.

I quickly disengaged from him before he gets the wrong idea.

“It’s actually love at first sight, do you remember how shocked I was the very first day I saw you? That’s because I was startled by your beauty” He continued.

Evelyn’s right. Almost every guy lies about love at first sight.

“Thank… you” I stuttered speechlessly, slowly moving away from him.

“You won’t give me a response?”

“Are you asking me to date you?” I crossed my arms.

Charles nodded affirmatively.

“I think the question you should ask is if I were married?” I said and he chuckled.

“I’ve checked your marital status, you are single and your title is ‘Miss’ Miss Rita Martinez”

“Are you?”

“I have a fiancé” I didn’t lie, I wasn’t only dating Finn as a boyfriend.

“A Fiancé?” He exclaimed, his eyes searching for a ring on my finger.

“So, excuse me” I headed towards the door.

“Actually Rita, I have something else to say” He obstructed my way but just then, the door opened and Finn came in.

“You are back Finn, I have been waiting for you. How was the impromptu meeting?” I asked passionately in the presence of Charles.

“Uhm, great. How do you do Rita? ” I sensed he seemed nervous.

A lady rushed in after him.

“We are not done talking Finn, how dare you walk out of me? How dare you leave me in there?” She screamed then turned to Charles and I. “Who are you? You know what, I don’t care. Excuse us” She ordered.

I was confused, shocked. I don’t know what emotion best describe me that moment. Who is she?

“Vanessa, calm down okay? At least, comport yourself, you are in an office, not the club” Finn snapped back at her.

“Oh wow! How dare you Finn!”

“Rita, this is Vanessa. I have alot to explain to you later okay?”

I nodded slowly like a lizard struck with bone in its throat.

“And Vanessa, this is Rita. She works in this company. Rita is my girlfriend” He announced when I thought he might be reluctant to.

Although, I wasn’t ready to announce to the whole world about Finn and I relationship but I guess, in this kind of a situation, it is very necessary.

“Girlfriend?” Vanessa and Charles exclaimed.

“The one you are in a serious relationship with?” Vanessa inquired. I guessed they must have spoken about me.

“Wh… wait, what? how? I.. I mean ..” Charles stuttered.

Sorry and not sorry for him.

“Finn, when you’re less busy” I mumbled to Finn and awkwardly left the office.

“You are dating an employee?” Vanessa asked to confirm.

“Apparently, we are not just a boyfriend and a girlfriend but something more serious than that” Finn added.

“Since when have you and Rita been together?” Charles inquired.

Finn ignored both of them and ran after Rita, she hadn’t gone too far. He grabbed her hand and took her to a vacant room space, so they could have some privacy.

Rita was still having a mixed feelings, maybe angry too.

“Finn, what’s going on?” Rita questioned, crossing her arms.

Finn took a deep breathe, his eyes laced with confusion and regret.

“Are you cheating? Who is Vanessa to you? I should have believed that you had a girl!”

“No”

“Listen Finn, we have only started this relationship and you ..” He interrupted me.

“Vanessa is a nobody, I mean it. I have only had past encounters with her and we were long over. Never knew we’ll cross path again” He ran his hands through his hair as he tried to explain and wished that she could easily understand.

“Then what is she doing here?” I queried.

“err…Vanessa came with her parents for some business stuff” He answered.

“What past encounters did you have with her?” I asked another question and before he even answered, I cut in sharply “Dirty things? Like we did previously?”

“Yes” He answered after a moment of silence. “We never dated, we were just partners with sexual benefit? ” He answered honestly.

“Oh! I see” I gasped. “Why are all guys like this?”

“What.. what do you mean?”

“You all fuck around like it means absolutely nothing. Probably not every guy does that but even my ex boyfriend Zane, was like that too”

“I met Vanessa at the club, that’s where I hook up with sluts or at the hotel! Believe me, I have turned a new leaf now”

“Enough” I raised my hand.

I breathe in and out, in order to be as calm as possible.

“This is the exact same thing my ex said”

“I’m sorry I hurt you” He apologised.

“You know what Finn? I want to trust you on two good things. One, I hope you do not see me as a sexual partner too, just like Vanessa who is now running after you after you jilted her”

“Never Rita, my love for you is true. You are my woman, you are my life” He pleaded and I scoffed.

“Two, don’t come close to me until you have done the STDs, HIV/AIDs test” I warned him.

“What?” He blurted; “Really Rita? You do not trust me..”

“I do, I… I am only taking protective measure. Do this for me if you want me to trust you more” I walked out of him and he came after me but soon stopped because of the staff around.
