Chapter 93
Chapter 93
Angeline returned to her seat again and continued to feed Floretta. Meanwhile, the latter was notably well-behaved and ate two plates full, causing her to have a bloated stomach.
“Mr. Golding, I hope you won’t leave Floretta alone in an unfamiliar place next time. Since she’s your daughter, I wish you could be more responsible for her.”
Knock, knock.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door again. Angeline hurried over to open the door to see a young woman holding three cups of drinks. “Ms. Angeline, a man ordered these for you from our shop just now.”
“Thank you.” Angeline took the drinks over before turning around to look at Evander while narrowing her eyes. “You ordered these?”
“What do you think?” Evander’s gaze darkened as he glanced at Angeline. “It was when I was ordering the drinks that Floretta went to look for you.”
His remark left Angeline speechless, and she allowed an apologetic look to cross her face.
It seems I’ve misunderstood Evander.
However, Floretta rolled her eyes as she heard Evander lying right through his teeth. She then picked up her favorite strawberry yogurt drink and walked toward the television to play games.
Angeline finally simmered down when she noticed Floretta had a good appetite. But then… it seems my worries since I left the Golding family weren’t unfounded.
At that thought, Angeline cleared her throat with a stern expression. “Mr. Golding, I believe you’ve perceived Floretta’s mental state as well, so I hope you can change your parenting style…”
“Yes, I know. That’s why I want you to accompany Floretta to the kindergarten.” Evander wore a frosty expression, seemingly not bothered by her criticism at all.
Angeline was surprised by his response. “Have you decided?”
“Yes. I’ve selected the advanced education kindergarten in Hallsbay. It’s a subsidiary of Golding Group.” Evander calmly shot her a glance.
Angeline felt happy for Floretta because she had faith in the choice of kindergarten Evander personally made.
“The day after tomorrow is Floretta’s first day of school. I’m worried that she won’t feel comfortable.”
Upon hearing that, Angeline agreed without a second thought, “No problem. I’ll apply for leave from Mr. McKenna.”
Evander’s eyes darkened even more as he fixed his gaze on her.
As Angeline recalled her overly proactive reaction earlier, she felt so awkward that her heart seemed to have leaped into her throat. “I’m doing it for Floretta. I’ll surely lend a hand as long as she needs help,” she hurriedly explained.
“Mhm.” Evander’s expression remained cold as always. However, without Angeline knowing, a sly glint flashed past a certain someone’s eyes when the latter heard her reply.
After Angeline played some games with Floretta for a while, Angeline’s assistant informed her to return to the set for filming.
When she heard that, she apologetically stroked Floretta’s braids. “Floretta, I need to get back to work now. You can play with your daddy first. I’ll finish my job as soon as possible. Then, I’ll come and play with you, okay?”
Floretta held Angeline’s hand before anxiously reminding her, “I want to watch you filming.”
Hearing that, Angeline appeared concerned. She looked at Evander, hoping he would talk some sense into Floretta.
“Since Floretta wants to watch you at work, let’s go to the set together then,” Evander uttered in a deep voice.
Angeline put her hand to her forehead. I have no objections if it’s regular scenes, but I’m shooting kissing scenes later. I don’t think it’s a good idea for a kid to witness that…
When they arrived at the set, Jacob was already waiting for Angeline. “Angie, I’ve prepared some hot chocolate for you. It’s good for your health,” he excitedly uttered as he approached with a thermos flask in his hand.
Jacob had been preparing different food and drinks for her daily recently, so she had already grown used to it. But this time, she hesitantly turned to look behind her.
Jacob followed her gaze. When he caught sight of Evander, he flew into a rage and demanded, “Evander, why are you here? Do you always have nothing to do at Golding Group?”
Shooting a glance at him, Evander replied coldly, “It’s also my duty to visit the film crew.”
Jacob was at a loss for words. What’s so great about being an investor? My dad is even the producer of this film!
Evander added, “As an actor, you’re trying to flirt with women instead of focusing on your job. I bet any other male actor is more professional than you. Perhaps the male lead needs to be changed.”
Jacob’s expression changed drastically at Evander’s words, and he nearly blew a fuse. “Evander, don’t spout nonsense!”
“That’s enough. Jacob, stop arguing.” Angeline felt her head aching and returned the thermos flask to him before she suggested, “As I’ve told you before, you don’t have to send me food in the future. I don’t want anything, but I appreciate your kind gesture.” Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Jacob pursed his lips, looking even more pitiful. It’s all right. I’ll be shooting kissing scenes with Angie soon. Just you wait, Evander!
At that thought, Jacob gained more confidence and swaggered into the studio. Suddenly, Derek walked over. “Just to let you guys know, the screenwriter altered the script earlier as he thinks that the romance part of the storyline proceeds too fast. Therefore, the kissing scenes have been removed.”
Angeline was flabbergasted when she heard that. Yet, for some inexplicable reason, she felt less pressured.
Jacob was instantly dumbfounded. “What?” He anxiously asked, “How could you guys simply change the script? I don’t think there’s a problem with it.”
His question made Derek feel guilty. The latter turned his gaze to Evander awkwardly, and his heart skipped a beat. It’s not like I wanted to change it. This noon, Evander specifically ordered me to prohibit all the kissing scenes with Angeline as it might have a bad influence on the targeted audiences of “The Journey” because they are young. D*mn it! I can’t imagine how much viewership I’m losing because of that!
As Jacob pondered about it, he felt that matter must have something to do with Evander. In an instant, his handsome face filled with rage. Right as he was about to go and ask Evander about it, he saw Floretta abruptly run over to hug his thigh. She looked at him with admiration shining in her jewel-like eyes before she uttered, “Woah! Jac, you look so cool in a traditional costume!”
“Really?” Jacob picked her up from the ground and tapped her nose. “You’re such a sweet talker.”
Floretta’s words instantly made Jacob beam with delight. He then raised his head to look at Evander before he snorted smugly. I knew it! Even though I’m no match for him in terms of scheming, we’re comparably attractive.
Meanwhile, the corners of Evander’s lips twitched. It’s the first time I’ve ever met someone like Jacob. I guess his intelligence is similar to a five-year-old girl.
Meanwhile, Olivine was enjoying the sunshine and having high tea in a cafe when she saw a scar- faced man enter and sit opposite her. “Ms. Sherrock, here are the documents that you asked for.”
Olivine reached for the documents and began to look through them.
In the meantime, the scar-faced man rested his arm on the armrest and triumphantly explained, “You were right. Angeline was kicked out of the Golding family five years ago, after which she was locked up in a wooden hut in a village to deliver her baby. However, we’ll only know whether the baby is Floretta by finding and asking the nurse that took away the baby at that time.”
“Look for the nurse then! Do you need to consult me for such a trivial matter?” Olivine threw the documents on the table. Her face was grim, and her hands were covered with sweat. I have a bad feeling that Floretta is Angeline’s biological daughter!
