His Eagle Eyes on Me

Chapter 2949

Elliot was the first to snap out of it. "When was this?" He asked.

"On the night when Layla got married," Shelly said.

He scowled. "Are you sure?!"

"Yeah. I'm sure you would have figured it out sooner or later because that's roughly when the baby was conceived. I had a friend who was working at that hotel, and they helped me slip into Layla's wedding. That was when I overheard someone plotting to drug Hayden in the washroom... I wanted to inform him about it but didn't get a chance. So I waited for him outside his room instead... That's pretty much the whole story. What happened between me and him was an accident. He isn't in love with me or anything."

Layla's expression darkened. "Shelly, do you know who it was that drugged my brother?" Layla desperately wanted to find the person who had done such a thing to Hayden.

Shelly shook her head. "I don't know them, but I'm sure Hayden knows who they are."

"Okay. Thank you, Shelly. We didn't even know that something like that had happened," Avery muttered sternly. "Hayden hasn't mentioned anything about it, and I guess that's because he doesn't want us to punish whoever was responsible. Since it's already in the past, there's no point in talking about it now."

"Mom, we can't just let this slide! Hayden was drugged, and if he hadn't run into Shelly, I can't even picture what might have happened," Layla said.

"Your brother didn't make a fuss about it, which means he doesn't want us to know," Avery said. "Since nothing bad happened, we will let bygones be bygones. However, we will ensure this never happens again in any future party we host."

"That's so scary!" Robert blurted out. "Am I going to be a target as well in a few years?"

The solemn atmosphere was instantly lifted by his words.

"You can find yourself a girlfriend, get married, and give birth to kids now. That way, no one will target you," Layla suggested.

"Layla, quit messing with me. I'm actually worried." Robert was terrified at the prospect of suddenly finding out that he was a father one day because he had not had enough fun yet.

"Then don't participate in any parties from now on and stay home. You will be safe that way."

"No way! I just won't drink anything

others offer me." Traumatized by what Hayden had experienced, he said, "Layla, the guests who attended your wedding were

considered close relatives, so none of us expected this to happen.'Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

"It's probably the guests on Eric's side behind this," Elliot said. "If it's a relative or friend we invited, there'd be no reason for Hayden to keep it a secret."

"All right, let's leave it behind. If we

talk about this to Hayden, he will know that Shelly let it slip and might even blame her for it," Avery said and served some vegetables to Shelly "Thank you for telling us, Shelly. Don't worry. We won't

mention a word to Hayden."

"You can tell him, Aunty Avery. I don't think he will come to me over that." Shelly was certain that her path would not cross with Hayden's again.

Hayden seemed like a workaholic who would rarely be at home, so she thought that she would not run into him even if she came to visit Aiden in the future.

After lunch, Shelly took a taxi to head back to her cafe, intending to practice what she had learned that day.

She had never baked but had watched the pastry chef do so countless times before, so she did not find the learning process challenging.

She ran into Courtney when she entered the cafe.

"I thought you weren't coming to work today," Courtney said. She knew that Shelly had gone to Elliot's mansion to learn how to bake, so she had not called Shelly at all.

"I want to practice what I learned. Courtney, do a taste test for me later," Shelly said as she walked toward the kitchen.
