Chapter 0058
Gemini was speaking, saying something in between the lines of cooperation, time limit and the rules and regulations, but Amara wasn't listening.
As much as she tried training her mind on what was important, in this case, it being the cooperation going on between Tobias, she and Gemini, it kept straying back to Tobias, who was standing in front of her and made no effort to hide the way his gaze lingered far too long on her.
"I have high hopes for this project," That was the first actual thing Amara understood without difficulty. "I hope you both won't disappoint me."
Amara managed a nod which earned her a smile from the older lady.
"Tobias," Gemini turned to him, fondly placing her hand on his shoulder. "I'm entrusting Ms. Miller into your care. From the looks of things, she's still new to the business world, please teach her everything you can."
A smile, which was more mischievous than genuine, graced Tobias's lips and he nodded. "Of course Madam Sinclair."
With that, Gemini ended the conversation, excusing herself so that she could greet other clients.
As soon as she was gone, the atmosphere between the two thickened and a tension descended. Amara wasn't about to stay in the same space as Tobias and turned around and attempted to leave.
Unfortunately, Tobias had other plans and grabbed her wrist.
"What are you doing?" Amara asked, turning to face him with a glare in a gaze.
"Running away without saying a word, again?" The tone in his voice was enough to tell Amara was he was talking about.
"I'm not running away," She yanked her hand free. "I have a party to tend to, important people to greet, I can't spend my time here entertaining an insignificant person such as yourself."
Her words bruised Tobias's ego, but he masked it with a light chuckle. Stuffing his hand into his pocket, he stepped forward. "Insignificant? We're partners now, Amara. And from the looks of things, Madam Sinclair seems to trust me more than she does you, so which of us truly is insignificant?"
He had a point, a damn good point and it infuriated Amara.
She flexed her jaw, but tried her very best to hide how much Tobias was getting under her skin.
"We'd be seeing each other more in the future, Amara, you should get used to it." The moment Tobias said this, slow music began to play and the dance floor filled up.
Tobias, whose attention had diverted towards the dancers, extended his hand to Amara. "Let's try practicing our future cooperation starting now. Dance with me." Amara frowned. "No."This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
Tobias looked unfazed by her rejection and simply jabbed his head in a random direction. "Madam Sinclair is watching," Amara's expression hardened when her eyes found the older lady staring at them. "and the last thing you want is for her to lose faith in your capabilities. Wouldn't want her to rethink her decision, now do you?"
Amara wanted to say no, she really did, but the look in Tobias's eyes showed that if she did or said one wrong thing, her partnership with Gemini would be the price.
"Fine," She sighed and took his hand, allowing him to lead her to the dance floor.
"Put your hand on my shoulder," He instructed, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her closer, before lacing his fingers with hers.
"I know how to dance, Tobias."
"I can tell, but I'm not sure how well you dance and I wouldn't want you to step on my toes, now would I?"
His remark had her gritting her teeth.
"Stop frowning," He ordered and she shot him a glare. "you'll wrinkle your forehead."
"Oh shut up and just dance."
Tobias didn't need to be told twice. He began to move to the rhythm of the music, guiding her body along.
Amara, who was used to dancing, easily caught up and followed his lead. As they moved together, she couldn't help but admire how well their bodies went with each. She had only just realized this, seeing as it was the first time she and Tobias ever danced together.
Although they had been married for six years, they neither participated in couple activities or even had a marriage, Sure, people knew Tobias William Larsen, business tycoon, had gotten married, but to whom, that was kept a secret, all because Tobias and his damn mother were ashamed of how she'd make Tobias
look if they stood together.
A disgrace, Giselle considered her. Ironic, considering how people were currently looking and fawning over them like they looked like a picture perfect couple.
"You're good," Tobias complimented, pulling her away from her spiraling thought.
Amara held a second long eye contact before looking away, disinterested in whatever conversation Tobias was about to start.
But the male had other plans. "I never expected you'd win the cooperation with Madam Sinclair," He continued, twirling her and then dipping her.
"You underestimated me," Amara responded with spite, hating how condescending Tobias's tone sounded as he spoke. "I have many side, all which have capabilities beyond your imagination, all which you don't know."
"Is that so?" He pulled her back up and spun her once more, catching her body in his arms when she was done. "Tell me," He pulled her in close, so close their chests were touching and her lips were just an inch away from his. "This side you speak of," His eyes fleeted to her lips and Amara felt the urge to pull away, but he was holding her in place. "Are you talking about the side you showed when you pleased yourself with those sex toys..." His eyes darkened when they met hers. "Or is it the side that allowed me to fuck you senseless for an entire night?"
The heat was rising on her cheeks, but Amara refused to allow him the satisfaction. "Fuck you, Tobias." She spat.
He smirked and leaned in towards her ear and whispered. "We've done that, remember?"
Anger surged through Amara, but just before she could react, Tobias did something that had her entire body stilling. He kissed her.
