His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies

Chapter 134

Chapter 134

“We had a really nice talk about you,” Isobel spoke. “She told me that she can see that Christian still loves you and that she feels sorry about everything.”

“Really?” I asked suspiciously. It sounded funny, coming from the woman who supposedly tried to take Siena away from me. “Yes, really!” Isobel reassured me.

“She said she never wanted things to go like this and that you are not the person she thought you were,” Isobel spoke. That sounded more like Césca. “She wanted you to come to her and to talk to her so she could deal with Gina—“

“And I went crazy and beat her up while carrying the Lamberti name.” I sighed. That much I could agree with, my reaction was justified but completely unnecessary. “She’s pissed at you, and she is worried because she thinks your family is a bad influence. All she wants is for Christian to be with Siena.”

That was funny. We wanted the same thing. Cesca was disappointed, but so was I. She and Lita used to get along so well, and so did we, so if there was a problem with the way I handled things, she should’ve gone to me. Both Cesca and Franco should’ve gone to me instead of threatening to steal my daughter.

“Well, the damage has already been done and Chrissie is still a cheater-but at the end of the day, it was all just one big miscommunication,” Isobel spoke. “How did you do it?” I asked. “How were you able to make up with Cesca?”

If Isobel could do it, I could also do it.

“We sat down, and we spoke,” Isobel explained as I was waiting for a clear answer. “That’s it?” I asked, confused. If only things were that easy.

I wanted Christian, and I wanted my family. The only difference was that Lita and Matteo were most likely not like Cesca. The plan of ‘having a conversation’ was not an option with those two,

“Yes, that’s it.” Isobel shrugged. “All you have to do is talk about your feelings, all of you-including your dad and your brothers. Deal with the situation as grownups and not a bunch of babies.”

“Thanks.” I chuckled. “But maybe you have a point. Even Siena isn’t like this. Even my own twin brother is ahead of me…embarrassing.” I muttered.

It seemed like our lives had completely switched. Beau was the one who was engaged, while I was back at level zero.

“Just so you know, I will never ever break Beau’s heart, and I really love him, which is strange because 1 didn’t think I was capable of really loving someone, and the pregnancy was not on purpose. It was more like an accident—“

“It’s okay.” I smiled. “You and Beau are both grown. I don’t need an explanation.”

“No, you do!” Isobel interrupted me. “My doctor told me that I have this condition and that I couldn’t even have babies, so I don’t know what the hell happened!”

“Then you should be happy. Getting pregnant after receiving news like that should be a blessing. You know there are a lot of women dying to hear that news.” I told her. Also, I was ungrateful one day, and so was Christian-but being able to carry a baby and take care of it was not a burden. It was a blessing.

“Do you want to hold Siena?” I asked. Isobel’s eyes were full of sparkles as she nodded her head. “Yes, the last time I held her, she was so tiny,” Isobel spoke. “She won’t cry, right?”

“No, she loves people.” I laughed. “She’s spoiled, and she just wants to be carried. It doesn’t matter by who.”

“Good” Isobel smiled and grabbed her from my hands.

“She’s so cute, she’s like a doll!” Isobel cooed and tickled her as she threw her in the air. A doll?

“She likes me, right?” Isobel gasped at Siena’s giggles. It wasn’t that she liked her. Siena was just a happy baby. “She does.” I played along. It felt crazy to know that Isobel was gushing over the very same baby she tried to get killed.

“Did you visit Vince this week?” I carefully addressed the situation. I knew she blamed herself, and I didn’t want to ruin her day, but I needed someone to talk to, and the subject was also hard on Christian.

“Yes, I did,” Isobel spoke and sat Siena down on her lap. “Mark my words, Vince never loses-he’ll wake up for sure.” She spoke, determined, but I knew the real reason behind her words. Isobel would never forgive herself if something happened to Vince, and him not waking up could be a turning point in her relationship with Beau.

“I miss him a lot.” Isobel sighed. “He was the only one willing to talk to me after I had no

one left.”

“He used to call me for absolutely nothing and used to ask me the most stupid and annoyin Izzy, do you want to go outside and feed the birds?” Isobel mimicked Vince’s energetic way of sp that too.

“Yes, he was like a giant toddler at times,” I chuckled. “But I like his personality. He was so open a carefree before…his dad…you know.” I sighed.

You know, the first time I met Beau, Vince forced him to tell me I looked pretty. Do you know the story?” Isobel changed the subject. “No, please tell me.”

“I was visiting Vince, and he introduced me to Beau, I told Vince a story about how some guy dumped me. and he forced Beau to call me pretty. Beau sounded so sarcastic, and I was scared of him ever since-and I never get scared.” Isobel spoke. It definitely sounded like something Vince and Beau would do.

“When you told me to rescue him. I almost peed in my pants, and he had no trouble showing me how much he hated me.” Isobel pouted. “We both used to visit Vince every day, and we just sat there in silence. because he ignored me, but one day all of that just stopped. He started looking at me differently.” Isobel gushed.

“He heard me bawl to Vince. I told Vince that I just couldn’t take it anymore and just wished to disappear. Beau was there when I needed him the most, and he gave me a reason to breathe again.”

“Oh.” I smiled, confused. I wasn’t good with my words and didn’t want to say the wrong thing. “I’m sorry when I start talking about Beau. I just can’t stop.” Isobel giggled. There were days where people used to get sick of me because I couldn’t stop talking about Christian.

“I never asked for your permission, but all of this is also so unexpected because we’re so different, and I’m so sorry.” She laughed. “Don’t worry about it,” I smiled back.

It was the strangest combination, but so were Christian and I. When would I ever stop thinking about him?

“No, I should worry about it. I just want to know that you’re okay with it. I slept with your baby daddy and now with your brother, I mean?” Isobel laughed. “Wow, thanks for the reminder.” I rolled my eyes. Those were things that didn’t have to be addressed.

“Beau knows, and he was fine with it. He didn’t even have anything to say about me being friends with

Christian. He told me that he didn’t want to control my life because he knows what it feels like. Isn’t that cute?” Isobel ranted. I was sick of cute couples. If I couldn’t be in a normal relationship, no one else could

“Are you thinking about him again?” Isobel sighed. “I know he made a terrible mistake, and I shouldn’t be sticking up for him-but I want you to know that Christian regrets everything. He’s smiling, and he’s staying strong-but he’s a mess.” Isobel told me.

“I know, and I miss him too, but our families still hate each other, and that video is still going viral-

“Who cares!” Isobel spoke. “No offense, but I’m holding the exact same baby I tried to get killed. If I can do that-you and Christian can go against your families. It’s not about them. It’s about you, Christian and Siena. You can’t please everyone!” Isobel told me. She was right, I tried, and I couldn’t. “How am I getting advice from you, I whispered in disbelief.

“It’s because we’re sisters now.” Isobel giggled. Sisters? She was really good at pushing it. “All of you are a mess, and I can’t believe I’m getting dragged into this family shoot thing. I don’t like secondhand embarrassment.” Isobel cringed.

Neither did I.

“Tell you what, how about we go on a double date? Just the four of us!” Isobel suggested. “Absolutely not. Beau will poke a knife through Christian’s eyes. He’s grateful but not that grateful.” I chuckled. At the end of the day, he still cheated on me, and that decision hurt many people.

“I’ll talk to your brother.” Isobel rolled her eyes. “Come on. It’ll be fun!”

“Oh…okay.” I gave in. There was no point in arguing with Isobel because she was just like Daniela. Everything had to go their way.

“Good, we’ll go tomorrow!” Isobel decided. “I can’t. I have this thing-”

“With Dario Orlando, I heard.” Isobel sighed. Just hearing his name made my skin crawl. I did not forget about what he had done and how he screwed me over. I still believed he was a nice person, but something. was seriously wrong with him.

If Christian was right and he really turned out to be a Lamberti, that would’ve been the best option. Only then he would have an actual reason for behaving like this, and it meant that I could forgive him and move past it, but that was for me to figure out tomorrow.

I could see through Dario and sense he had the right intentions and a good heart, but this wasn’t it. He wasn’t protecting me. He was hurting me.

“Are you okay?” Isobel asked. “I mentioned Dario, and you completely spaced out.”

“Yes, fine.” I lied. “I was just thinking about all the work I had to do. It’s exhausting.”

“Right.” Isobel chuckled. Also, she could see right through me. “How about the day after tomorrow? Are you free?”

“Yes, but I don’t think Christian is.” I attempted to get out of it, but something told me that I wouldn’t.. “Christian would cat his toenails to spend time with you, don’t worry about that.”

“My God, you sound just like him.” I laughed. Christian used to say weird stuff like that. Stuff about whoever would eat whatever to get something done.

“It’s because we grew up together.” Isobel spoke. “I don’t know if he has it from me or if I have it from him,

but I used to be a normal girl in the past, so I think I have it from him.” She concluded.

“Anyway, so we both agree?” She asked, but it seemed more like an order. The thought of going on an actual date-made me nervous because I did not know whether I was ready or not to do stuff like that. Relationship stuff.

“Isobel, what do you think about relationship therapy?” I wondered. Isobel burst out laughing and looked at Siena. “Siena, do you hear that crazy mommy of yours? Relationship therapy!” She laughed out loud.

“Or not,” I mumbled, embarrassed. I should’ve known better. She was just like Christian. “Screw therapy. just sit down and talk about the things that bother you about him. Talk about the things you can’t handle and tell him why you can’t handle them-it’s what I did with Beau.”

“What?” I laughed. “Is that the reason why Beau became that soft?”

“Yes.” Isobel nodded. “I told him that I wanted to see him smile at least one time a day. He was so angry, aggressive, tensed-”

“I know what you mean. Christian used to be like that.” I smiled. “Oh my god, I can’t take this anymore,” Isobel spoke hysterically. “I can bring up my deceased grandma, and somehow you’ll manage to bring it back to Christian!”

“I know, it’s horrible.” I huffed. “I miss him so much. It’s ridiculous. I can stare at a dark wall, and the first thing which crosses my mind are his eyes. I’m a mess!

“Christian is the same,” Isobel spoke. “He was cutting onions, and he told me that you once threatened to stab him with a knife with a smile on his face!”

“Who, me?” I asked, surprised. It wasn’t something I could remember.

“Yes, in your old apartment or something? You told him to get out because the kitchen was nearby-

“Ah, I remember.” I chuckled. “The good old days.”

“You know, I actually really like talking to you,” I confessed. “I was a bit skeptical at first because you… tried to get me killed and all, but I think we’ll get along just fine.” Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

The thought of Matteo still disliking her made me sad. Isobel was crazy, there was no doubt about that- but she obviously changed a lot. She was still crazy, but in a good way. I still wasn’t waiting to be best friends or sisters, but we could get along.

“I hope so,” Isobel spoke. “Beau told me to visit you, I told him you hated me and he told me you’re not capable of hating anyone.”

That statement was true, I wasn’t capable of hating anyone, and that was my issue. I was always trying to find the good in everyone and look at where that got me. Christian cheated on me, and Dario screwed me

Over

“Anyway, it’s settled-you, me, Christian, and Beau are going on a double date in two days!” Isobel clapped

her hands.

“I’m really excited,” I spoke, sarcastic. There was nothing better than having a double date with your ex, your twin who might still kill your ex, and the girl who slept with both of them. Amazing.
