Chapter 165
Chapter 165
“Good” Christian spoke and pulled away to sit down on the bed. “So, what’s the deal with you and Dario?” I wondered. I couldn’t stop thinking about him and felt terrible for the way things went.
He betrayed his own dad to help us and it must’ve not been easy for him.
“You told me all he wanted was a family.” Christian started. “So I allowed him to become a Lamberti, if he wants to of course.”
“Huh?” I spoke, confused, while I sat down next to Christian. I listened as he told me about everything that happened and how Dario had switched sides. The most unexpected thing had to be Christian inviting Dario to the photoshoot and offering to introduce him to the family..
“So you think that doing that will make your uncle reveal himself?” I asked. “Yes,” Christian spoke. “Dario told me to keep doing what I’m doing, so that must mean we’re finally heading somewhere.”
“He also told me that my uncle is after the Lamberti warehouse because he has money know what kind of money, and I don’t know how much but-
there I don’t
“Siena’s funds!” I told Christian, who looked up in surprise. “It’s the money your uncle stole, and your grandpa just couldn’t stop talking about those funds-so I’m pretty convinced it’s the money he put away
for Siena.”
I gave him the information about Siena’s money and a bit more about Dario’s twisted mother. I could not understand how people even compared me to that woman. “So he’s doing all of this for Siena’s money?” Christian sighed.
That was right. He would agree with me and realize that his uncle was ridiculous. That man was sick, and if he thought that he could touch Siena’s money-
“He can have it,” Christian spoke to my surprise. “W-what?” I gasped with big eyes while Christian had a calm look on his face. “What do you mean, he can have it?” I asked, irritated.
“He can have the money if that means the warehouse with all of our stuff and all our men will at least be safe-then he can have it,” Christian explained. He took a breath and raised my chin with his hands, forcing me to look at him. “You don’t agree with me, do you?” He asked.
He was absolutely right. Of course, I didn’t agree with him handing over Siena’s present from her grandpa. to her greedy uncle. “If this is about money, I can get Siena other money!” Christian spoke. “But now that I know what kind of money we’re talking about, I think it’s for the best to take our distance from it.”
“Take our distance?” 1 frowned. As far as I was concerned, his uncle Berto was the one who should take his distance. “Serena, he’s willing to go really far for that money-and now that I know Siena is somehow involved, I just want to get my hands off it!”
“W-what?” I spoke, surprised. “Christian, do you hear yourself?”
“Yes,” Christian snapped. “I hear myself, and I’ve seen these kinds of things happen before. What do you think will happen when my uncle finds out all of the money he thinks is his will be going to some baby-”
“Your daughter.” I corrected him. “It’s not some baby, it’s your daughter-and once you give him the money, he’s going to want even more things. That’s how people are.”
“Serena,” Christian sighed. “Don’t give me that look for putting the warehouse, my men’s safety and our Siena’s life before some money.”
“I’m not!” I quickly clarified. It was not about the money, but it was about preventing his uncle from
coming back to demand more. If he could get the hands on the cash without a single issue, it meant he could also get his hands on the family business.
“It’s about giving Siena’s what’s hers,” I told him. “Do you really think your uncle will leave it at just Siena’s funde? It’s not putting her life in danger or risking the warehouse-it’s about not being a pussy and fight for what’s rightfully hers!”
“Serena…” Christian muttered as he brushed my hair to the side. “When did you get like this?”
His words broke my heart into pieces, and I felt like fading away.
Not him too.
“Like what?” I whispered, fearing for his answer. He connected his hand with mine and stared into my eyes with a pitiful look on his face. “Do you really want me to fight for Siena’s money?” Christian asked. “I know where you’re coming from, and I know that he’ll come back for more, but please think this through.”
“I’ll become his puppet if that means I get to keep you and Siena safe.” He continued. “If it weren’t Siena’s money. I would’ve fought for it-but I don’t know what will happen when he finds out it’s hers, and I can not forgive myself if something happens to our baby or anyone else we love, neither can you.”
“You’re wrong,” I told him and roughly pulled my hand away from his. “You should fight for that money just because it’s Siena’s. How are you going to tell her that daddy let her uncle take her money because he was too weak to fight for her?”
“That’s not it.” Christian defended himself. “I’m protecting our family.”
“Oh, is that so?” I chuckled. “And how about letting the girl you cheated on me with staying here and gatekeeping the floor like I’m the issue?”
“Serena!” Christian warned me. “Stop it.”
“You know what, maybe I should go upstairs and kill her the same way she killed our relationship. I can’t. believe you care more about her well-being than your own daughter’s money-”
“Shut up!” Christian yelled in my face. “Just shut up!”
I was surprised by his tone and was wondering where he got the confidence from. “Shut up?” I spoke, confused. “Who are you telling to shut up? Who do you think I am-are you crazy?”
“Serena, I don’t know what came over me. I’m sorry!” Christian apologized, but I moved away from him instead. “You’re getting a bit too comfortable with raising your voice at me, but please know your place.” I told him. It wasn’t the first time he raised his voice at me, but it would definitely be the last.
I had no issues packing my bags again if this was how it was going to be like.
“I’m sorry.” Christian apologized once again. “I don’t know what came over me. I’m sorry.”
“I don’t want to argue.” He spoke while I mimicked his famous sentence at the same time. Don’t do it, I told myself as I saw a smile on his face, but I couldn’t help it and burst out laughing.
“Our relationship is so unhealthy.” I laughed in disbelief. “We should really stop doing this. It’s getting a bit ridiculous.”
Christian pulled me into a side hug and rested his head on my shoulder. “You’re like a baby.” I giggled
while I patted his head. “I don’t want to lose you.” He spoke.
“I don’t want to lose you either, and I love you.” I comforted him. “I don’t know what came over me, and I’m really sorry” Christian apologized for the third time.
“Yes, I can see” I pouted and kissed his head. “You’re like a cute little baby. You should always stay like this.” I teased him. “Don’t yell at me, don’t argue with mr-just listen to me.”
“I will,” Christian spoke. “I will fight for Siena’s money and make sure it doesn’t go anywhere else other than her pockets.”
It was nice to see him agree with me. That money was for Siena, and it would be going to her, not her
uncle.
“By the way, since I found out valuable information, does this mean I won the bet?” I asked. Christian removed his head from my shoulder and gave me a sarcastic smile. “I guess you did.”
“Right?” I spoke, excited. “Christian, do you know what this means?” I asked him to double-check if he hadn’t forgotten about our agreement. It meant he would show me everything, including the Lamberti warehouse.
“This means I’m stuck with you” Christian shrugged while I flew into his arms. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” I repeated while I attacked him with kisses, but Christian didn’t seem to mind.
“You seem happy.” He laughed and hugged me back. “Yes,” I breathed. “I’m so happy. I can just give you baby number two, three, four-”
“Jesus.” A voice gasped. Christian and I turned our heads towards the door and saw Carmen with Siena in her hands. Her cheeks were flushed, and she was unsure of what to do. “Carmen,” Christian smiled. “Can I help you with something?”
“N-no, you guys go ahead and uh…” Carmen muttered, “I should really learn how to knock. Imagine if I had walked in at the wrong time.” She cringed while Christian and I gave each other a look.
“Carmen, can I help you with something?” Christian repeated his question and ignored her rant. “Well,” She started. “I came here to give you guys Siena because I have some homework to finish, but the two of you obviously have…plans, so.”
“Come on,” Christian chuckled and opened his arms. “Bring her here.”
“If you insist.” Carmen shrugged and brought her over to Christian. “She’s so cute and chubby,” Carmen commented while she looked at Christian and Siena.
“It’s pretty obvious who her favorite parent is.” Carmen bothered me. Christian didn’t even have to do anything to make Siena laugh, while I had to act like an idiot and pull the strangest faces. “That’s also what I told her!” Christian agreed. “Perhaps if we have another baby-”
“What kind of homework do you have, Carmen?” I asked to change the subject. I might’ve went a little crazy with suggesting another baby.
“Math.” Carmen sighed. “I’m just going to fill in some random things so I can at least get it done.”
“Sorry,” I spoke and gave her an apologetic look. “I would like to help you, but I barely graduated high school.”
“I can help you!” Christian offered. “I’m good in math. I’ve always been the best.”

“I’m sorry. It might take some time to get used to this, I spoke It was strange for him to involve me in everything, but I had nothing to complain about “We have at eight in the morning, so make sure you’re ready.”
