Chapter 1002 Sandy, I Didn't.

When Sandy heard Brandon's words, her breath seemed to slow for a moment. She replied softly, "Is it

something from the internet?"

Although Sandy hadn't seen it yet, after hearing Jones's account, she had a rough idea of what had

happened. Brandon hadn't expected that after seeing the news, he would still be a step behind in

calling Sandy. As he heard her question, he felt a mix of emotions, like he had genuinely done

something to hurt Sandy, leaving him feeling guilty and remorseful.

"Sandy, I didn't," Brandon said sincerely.

Brandon and Sandy had known each other for several years. While Sandy couldn't claim to know every

detail about Brandon, she knew him about 90%. She was certain that he wouldn't lie about something

like this because he knew her just as well. If Brandon had lied and Sandy found out, there would be no

turning back for them.

Brandon was well aware of this fact and didn't hide anything from Sandy, telling her about his

involvement with Olive Chen truthfully. They had been childhood friends, and Olive had been like a little

follower, constantly calling out "Brother Brandon" to him.

Despite Brandon's not-so-friendly attitude toward Olive back then, she saw only him and ignored

Nelson and Kason's attempts to win her over. Even though Nelson and Kason were older than Olive by Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

several years, getting her to call either of them "brother" was almost impossible.

One day, someone joked in front of Olive that if she called Kason "big brother," she would become

Brandon's future wife. Since then, whenever Olive saw Kason, she started calling him "big brother" and

even claimed she would be Brandon's future wife.

Though this was initially just a playful joke, with time, it felt like there might be a grain of truth to it. As

they grew older, Brandon's feelings for Olive started to change. At first, he didn't particularly like or love

her, but as time went on, he began to genuinely care for her.

When the families started discussing their engagement, Brandon was still busy with his business. Olive

had asked for some time, and he didn't think much of it at the time. He thought she just needed him to

pay more attention to her and believed they would marry after he finished his work.

Everyone thought Brandon and Olive would be together forever, married with children, and living a

happy life. But nobody expected that when they finally decided to get engaged, Olive suddenly said she

wanted to wait.

At that time, Brandon had debts and the Hawkins family was in a slump. He thought he hadn't cared

enough for Olive, so she might have been unhappy. He agreed to wait for her until he finished his work.

With his assurance, both families understood that they were just busy with their respective careers, and

they didn't want to force the matter. They thought it was only a matter of time before they would get

engaged.

However, Olive had something else in mind. She wanted to study abroad. Brandon tried to stop her,

apologizing for his neglect and promising to change, but Olive was determined to go overseas.

She left without hesitation, leaving Brandon feeling at a loss. He even went to apologize to Olive,

promising not to neglect her again, but she wouldn't budge. She went abroad and didn't return for one

and a half years.

When she finally came back, Olive had transformed. She looked like a refined young lady from a

prestigious family, and her aura made others feel that she was superior. Some even thought Brandon

wasn't good enough for her. His business hadn't taken off, and the Hawkins family was still struggling.

Everyone assumed Olive had come back to finalize her engagement with Brandon. However, to

everyone's surprise, she wanted to end the engagement instead.

Brandon had planned to propose to her and even bought a ring. But Olive was set on dissolving the

engagement.

When she first delayed the engagement, Brandon believed it was due to his lack of attention. However,

he never imagined that the real reason was because she had her eyes on someone else.

One night, Brandon encountered Olive at a club while he was drinking. She was clinging to a man,

talking affectionately about how she had liked him for many years, but he was nothing but a failure who

couldn't accomplish anything.

That moment made Brandon realize that Olive's love for him was likely conditional on his wealth. It

seemed her love would be cancelled out if he didn't have money.

After that night, Brandon went home and agreed to dissolve the engagement with the Duncan family.

He never mentioned to anyone, including Nelson and Kason, about the encounter with Olive.

Some time later, Nelson brought up the topic in front of Brandon.

Olive's life abroad wasn't as smooth as it seemed. She lost weight and looked like she had been

through a lot of hardships.
