Chapter 1081: He's Actually Quite Well-Behaved

Antonio stepped forward and handed the box to Yanis, saying in a low voice, "Mom said that your

brother-in-law called to ask about the recipe for these treats today, so she made some and asked me to

bring them. They're all your favorites."

Yanis glanced at Zane when she heard his words, then turned her attention to Antonio. "Please, have a

seat."

Antonio awkwardly took a seat on the couch.

Yanis opened the box and took a bite of a treat. The taste was just like when she was a child, though

her emotions were different this time.

With Zane present, Antonio felt hesitant to start a conversation with Yanis.

It wasn't until Zane's phone rang, and he moved aside to take the call, that Antonio turned to Yanis.

"Sis, um... Are you... pregnant?"

Yanis blinked, still chewing the treat. She looked at Antonio. "How did you figure that out?"

Antonio blushed slightly, touching his nose. "Mom said that when she was pregnant, she craved treats."

Yanis swallowed the bite of the treat. "Yes, you're going to be an uncle."

A smile spread across Antonio's face, his eyes shining. He gazed at Yanis's belly and then back at her

face. "So... do I need to prepare a gift, like a welcome present?"

Yanis was about to say it wasn't necessary, but Antonio quickly added, "I've been learning from Dad

during this time. When he's born, I'll definitely prepare a really good gift, a welcome present."

Yanis chuckled, amused by Antonio's earnestness. "You'll have to work really hard then."

Antonio responded eagerly, "I will."

Due to Yanis's pregnancy, Antonio had become more at ease around Zane. The tension seemed to be

replaced by happiness.

Antonio had initially intended to drop off some treats and then leave. However, he ended up staying

until dinnertime before finally heading out.

Before leaving, he reminded Yanis to take good care of herself.

Yanis responded, "You want your brother-in-law to drive you?"

Antonio shook his head. "No need, I can go on my own."

Antonio had arrived by taxi. He and a few of his brothers had partnered up to start a car service, similar

to ride-sharing, so he sent a quick message to one of his friends in the business to pick him up.

After seeing Antonio off at the door, Yanis returned inside.

Zane was waiting at the door. As Yanis approached, he extended his hand. "Shall we go in?"

"Did he find out?" Zane held Yanis's hand as they walked inside, his voice lowered.

Yanis hummed in affirmation. "He's actually quite well-behaved."

Antonio's previous behavior had mostly been enabled by Olivia's leniency.

Without prior experiences, he felt invincible and superior.

However, this recent experience seemed to have helped Antonio mature. He wasn't as impulsive as

before, nor did he have that sense of invincibility.

Sometimes, people needed experiences to truly understand their own nature and capabilities.

Otherwise, they might always think too highly of themselves.

Zane thought about an incident Albi had encountered recently, hesitated for a moment, and then spoke

in a low voice. "Their materials company seems to be facing some issues recently. It's causing trouble."

Upon hearing Zane's words, Yanis turned her head to look at him. "How do you know?"

Zane guided Yanis to sit on the couch and then responded, "When Albi was discussing business with a

client a while ago, he happened to run into your dad. Overheard their conversation."

Yanis fell silent for a few seconds before speaking, "They should be able to handle it themselves,

right?"

Whether in the past or now, Yanis had never intended to ask for Zane's help.

When she had first married Zane, she was powerless and hadn't even had the chance to speak. Olivia

and Martin had acted like vampires, appearing and demanding money from Zane at will.

She still couldn't understand why Zane had willingly given Olivia and Martin so much money, even

when he had no affection for her and did his best to avoid her.

Yet, Yanis didn't voice these thoughts. She decided not to say anything after all. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

"Let them handle it on their own," Yanis finally said casually.

Zane thought Yanis might have more to say, but her response was unexpectedly nonchalant.

"Yanis."

After a brief silence, Zane called out softly.

"Yes?"

"If they handle it on their own, it might involve legal proceedings, which could take a long time and

create more problems. There's no guarantee they can handle it properly."

"Then let them go through the legal process," Yanis still didn't want Zane to intervene.

Seeing Yanis so determined, Zane sighed helplessly. "Yanis, must you keep me at arm's length like

this?"

Yanis finally grasped the underlying meaning in Zane's words and shook her head repeatedly. "No,

you're overthinking it. What I mean is, if they haven't done anything illegal, I believe the law will protect

them."

Zane rubbed Yanis's head with a gentle hand. "I'll have Albi look into this matter. It's not worth dragging

it out over a minor issue."

Zane paused for a moment before adding, "And besides, if it takes too long, Antonio might not even

manage to prepare a proper welcome gift by the time the baby is born."

Upon hearing this, Yanis turned to Zane with a surprised look. "You eavesdropped on our

conversation?"

"With you guys so close, and Antonio so excited, I naturally overheard it. The volume wasn't exactly

low," Zane replied matter-of-factly.

Yanis raised an eyebrow. "But weren't you on the phone at the time?"

"Multitasking," Zane replied with a grin.
