Chapter 962: He Loves You
While Zane was on the phone, his gaze remained fixed on Yanis.
Foster, sensing Zane's vigilance, couldn't help but chuckle, "Do you think I would do something to her
in broad daylight?"
Upon hearing Foster's words, Yanis followed his gaze to Zane.
She smiled lightly, "He's not worried about you; I just had a little trouble today, and he's concerned."
After Yanis clarified, Foster withdrew his gaze from Zane and looked at Yanis, saying, "He loves you."
Yanis turned to Foster, curious.
Foster spoke softly, "Back then, I thought he was too cold-hearted. He was indifferent to other people's
pleas, and he didn't even show up on the day she died. I couldn't fathom how someone could be so
heartless."
"But I never considered that if Zane had come that day and met her, but then told her he didn't like her,
it would have been a deception to make her live well. In the heart of someone with depression, that
kind of action would have had a greater impact. So even if Zane had done that, it wouldn't have really
kept her."
Yanis listened to Foster and asked softly, "So all these years, you've had regrets?"
"Yes," Foster admitted.
His biggest regret was bringing Zane to a party, which gave her the chance to fall in love with him at
first sight.
If he hadn't taken Zane to that party, maybe none of the subsequent events would have happened.
So that was also a regret in his heart.
When Zane finished his call and came back to Yanis, he sat next to her, giving Foster a warning look.
Foster met Zane's gaze and smiled faintly, "What? Do you think I'd do something to her in front of Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
you?"
Zane didn't engage with Foster's comment but instead said, "Thanks for helping with Phoebe."
Foster waved it off, "Just consider it a favor for Mrs. Lawrence, it has nothing to do with you."
Zane glanced at Foster but didn't say anything more.
The dinner went relatively peacefully, and when it was over, Yanis went to the restroom.
While Yanis was away, Foster looked at Zane, "Let's put an end to the past between us."
Upon hearing Foster's words, Zane looked at him, "Have you come to terms with it?"
Foster met his gaze, "Zane, the fact that you're still alive today is truly a miracle."
Zane responded coolly, "Thank you for the compliment."
Foster: "..."
After leaving the restaurant, Yanis thought about what Haider had said and had Zane drive her to South
Hospital to meet Dr. Wood.
"Let's go see Anika first, and I'll talk to Dr. Wood later." Yanis got out of the car and walked to Zane,
taking his arm and saying softly.
Zane responded, "Okay."
They found Anika sitting quietly on a staircase in a corridor, listening to music on her phone with
earphones.
Yanis watched for a moment before walking over and sitting down next to Anika.
When Anika noticed someone next to her, she took off her earphones and looked surprised, "Sister-in-
law, why are you here?"
"Came with your brother." Yanis replied, taking the earphones from Anika's hand and putting them on
her own ears, "Why are you here alone?"
Anika said, "I wanted some quiet, it's too noisy downstairs."
After saying that, she turned to Zane, nodding to the space next to her, "Brother, sit."
Zane went over and sat next to Anika, asking, "Have you eaten?"
"I have. Iris had someone deliver it." Anika smiled as she replied.
"Iris hasn't come the past couple of days?" Zane asked, looking at Anika.
Anika nodded, "He's been busy, but he still sends lunch and dinner on time every day, and he
personally cooks them."
Seeing Anika smiling so happily, both Yanis and Zane were relieved.
After chatting with Anika for a while, Yanis excused herself to go find Dr. Wood.
"Mrs. Lawrence, it's been a while." Dr. Wood stood up as Yanis entered, greeting her softly.
Yanis walked up to him, "Please have a seat."
Dr. Wood pointed to the chair in front of him, indicating for Yanis to sit.
After Yanis was seated, she detailed Bonnie's situation to Dr. Wood.
After listening, Dr. Wood fell silent for a moment, "I need to see her and assess her condition before
making a judgment. However, based on what you've described, her condition is likely postpartum
depression, but it also depends on the patient's individual circumstances."
"Some people may experience it for a short period and recover after passing through that stage, but for
others, it can persist and become more severe, leading to a complete mental breakdown."
Yanis couldn't help but worry more upon hearing this, "So, is her condition already severe?"
"I'll have to see her first to determine that," Dr. Wood replied.
He paused for a moment before continuing, "But I don't think she would want us to look at her as a
patient, or pity her for being sick. That would only make her feel normal, and she would resist
treatment. Do you understand what I mean?"
Yanis nodded, "I understand."
"Find a suitable time, and I'll come over to see her." Dr. Wood said.
Yanis responded, "Alright, I'll contact you when I find a suitable time."
"Good."
After discussing Bonnie's situation with Dr. Wood, Yanis briefly inquired about Anika's condition.
Dr. Wood smiled as he spoke about Anika's condition, "Her progress is optimistic, you don't need to
worry. She's been moving in the best direction."
"That's good; otherwise, the family has been very worried."
After finishing her conversation with Dr. Wood, Yanis went back to find Anika and Zane.
Due to time constraints, Yanis and Zane didn't stay at South Hospital for long before returning to D-king
Castle.
Once back home, Yanis received a call from Ivan.
"Ivan?"
"Are you at home?" Ivan's voice came through the phone.
Yanis responded, "Just got home, what's going on?"
Ivan fell silent for a few seconds before speaking in a low voice, "She just attempted suicide; she was
discovered in time and taken to the hospital for treatment. Do you... want to come and see her?"
Upon hearing Ivan's words, Yanis stood up abruptly from the sofa, "What did you say?"
