I Refuse to Divorce

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

He rarely forgave Zoe, but surprisingly, she rejected him. Zoe withdrew her slender finger.

Mason’s patience was not without its limits, “What on earth do you want from me?”

Zoe answered, “I want a divorce!”

His work was demanding enough. Now, Zoe insisted on not going back home with him. Also, he had trouble finding the right cuff links this morning.

Mason was about to pull his hair out.

He was going to lose it when he saw Cecil chatting with a nurse in front of a white BMW in the parking lot. Mason was ticked off even more and clicked his tongue.

At that moment, his phone rang. It was Ava. He answered the call and said, “What?”

Ava said, “Ms. Lilith fell to the ground when she was getting out of her bed earlier. She might’ve hurt the nerves in her legs. She’s in a foul mood now. Do you want to visit her at Hucksburgh? She might be happy to see you.”

Mason held his phone and said nothing. Needless to say, he did not want to upset Zoe. However, she heard everything because his phone was quite loud.

She smiled faintly, got out of the car, and left without so much as a glance back. The wind blew past and chilled her to the bone.

How lucky, she thought. It was a good thing she did not change her mind when Mason showed her the wedding ring earlier. She had no intention of going back to her old, suffocating life.

How lucky, she thought.

Mason watched as she walked away into the distance and told Ava, “Get her the best doctor!”

Ava was quite surprised by his answer. “Aren’t you going to Hucksburgh?”

However, Mason had already hung up. He proceeded to call Zoe, but he could not reach her. He couldn’t even send her a WhatsApp message.

She had gone ahead and blocked his number.

Mason threw his phone aside in a fit of rage. After a while, he peered at the diamond wedding ring. He believed it now. Zoe was adamant about divorcing him.

However, he was not going to agree to it. She had to continue to be his wife.

Three days passed by. Mason stood in front of a window in the director’s office. He was on a call with Barbara, who missed Zoe dearly and asked him to bring her along to visit her.

Mason was trying to appease her. At that moment, someone knocked on his office door and said,

“Special delivery, Mr. Mason.”

He raised his eyebrow. He had a good idea of what it was. Ava walked in, placed a document on his desk, and said, “It’s from Ms. Zoe.”

Mason stared at it from the window for a few seconds and walked slowly toward his desk. He opened it and confirmed his suspicion. It was a divorce agreement. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

He skimmed through it and was impressed. She did not ask for anything. How gutsy.

His face grew gloomy. After a brief pause, he asked softly, “What has she been doing lately?”

Ava said hastily, “It seems that she's selling off her house! There were a lot of interested buyers, but none of them took any action! Also, Ms. Zoe landed a job.

“One of the institutions hired her because she won some awards back in college. The salary package and benefits were quite good too.”

Mason sat on his leather chair and raised the divorce agreement after a brief pause. The chill in his voice was unmistakable.

“Arrange someone to get in touch with Zoe and buy her house at the lowest possible price! As for the job, she won’t be able to stand the hardship.”

Ava was startled. She thought Mason would do everything to tear the Sanders down, but he did not. It was beyond her expectations.

Ava had only hesitated for several seconds, but Mason said sharply, “Get out of here now!”

Ava quickly left his office. She gripped her phone tightly and hesitated briefly before making a phone call.
