Chapter 65 The Egotistic Yair
Chapter 65 The Egotistic Yair
The business at San Diego Western Restaurant was very good.
When Yair took Anne and the others there, the hall was so full and there were no more seats. There
was a dozen guests waiting in the waiting area.
The queued machines showed that it will take at least half an hour to get a seat.
"I'll talk to the manager, see if we can pay some more so they’ll arrange a place for us first." Julie
couldn't sit still. She was hungry, and most importantly, Julie was also an "upper class" in her
hometown. She has never waited for a meal in a restaurant.
"Mom, forget it, let's wait here," Anne persuaded. San Diego Western Restaurant is a famous
restaurant in JM city. There was nothing her mother could do.
“Forget it? Sit here and I can go by myself." Julie didn't take her daughter's words seriously. As a
person with a good reputation in her hometown, she thought that getting a privilege seat with some
extra money was easy.
Julie met the manager after talking to the front desk. She made it clear that she was willing to give an
extra 500 yuan and asked the manager to arrange a seat for her. But the manager refused her. 500
yuan meant nothing to a Restaurant of this size.
In the end, Julie ran into a brick wall and returned in embarrassment.
"Please sit here. I'll give it a try." Yair stood up and said. Just now Anne and the others saw how
"helpless" Julie looked in front of the manager. Naturally, he couldn't ignore it. Otherwise Anne, Aviana,
Diana would definitely blame him for being useless. He didn't even dare to speak up when his mother-
in-law was so embarrassed like that.
With that said, Yair walked to the manager. He was quite concerned. Even though he was a rich kid,
what if they still refuse him?
However, there was still a glimmer of hope in him. Yair had heard from his father before that he had
been in touch with the manager of San Diego Western Restaurant several times. But he didn't know
how deep the friendship was.
Now that he had no choice but to give it a try.
"Hello, Manager Miller. My name is Yair Ivan, and my father is Sean from DS Construction Company. I
am here with a few friends. I don't know if you can arrange it..." Yair walked to the manager and said
politely.
Sean of DS Construction Company? Manager Miller knew this man. He was just an insignificant boss.
Among the guests in San Diego Western Restaurant, he was too mediocre.
As Manager Miller was thinking about how to tactfully refuse Yair’s request, he saw several guests
opened the door and came in.
Quincy Lane, Jane Dulce, and Hannah have just arrived. Seeing Anne, Julie and others sitting in the
waiting area, they joined them. It was obvious that they know each other.
Manager Miller paused for a second. He immediately recognized Quincy and Jane. He noticed Jane
and the middle-aged woman’s intimate behavior as if they were mother and daughter.
Not long ago, Bryan Lowe was beaten with a red wine bottle by Quincy, for bullying Jane at the
restaurant. At that time, Bryan even asked Fred Thompson for revenge, but Fred was terrified when he
heard the name Quincy. Not only wasn’t Quincy beaten, but it was Bryan who ended up kneeling,
bowing and begging for spare. He even had to lick the floor.
It seemed like Yair was with Quincy. And he was the person who intimated Mr. Thompson. Manager
Miller refused to help him finding a place. It would be catastrophic for the entire restaurant if Quincy got
mad.
Manager Miller was trembling just thinking about how Bryant ended ed up that day.
He was scared.
"Manager Miller, Manager Miller..." Yair was puzzled. What happened to Manager Miller?
"Oh..." Manager Miller looked at Yair again. "Did you want to book a seat? My apologies. I will make
arrangements for you and your friends right away. Please wait."
"I see, that's fine." As soon as Yair agreed, Manager Miller started to arrange it respectfully. Yair was
confused.
"When did my dad become so powerful?" He scratched his head because he hadn't figured out
everything yet. Originally, he assumed his family’s company, a midstream enterprise might not get a
good deal for Manager Miller. He didn't expect that the manager would agree so quickly when he
mentioned his father's name.
It seemed that his father is quite prestigious in JM City.
With that in mind, Yair walked back to the waiting area.
"And you asked us why we were sitting here. Do you think that you the owner of this restaurant, so you
can eat whenever you want? You have to wait in line." Julie complained to Quincy, then turned to Yair.
"It’s okay if the manager said no, I am not that hungry anyway. Let’s wait for half an hour."
"Oh, auntie. Cheer up. I got things done with Manager Miller. He has gone to arrange a table for us."
Yair said proudly.
"Wow, he said yes." Julie was a little shocked. "You are such a smart boy, Yair! I tried talking with him,
but he just didn’t buy it. And you only went there for a few minutes, and he agreed. That was
impressive." Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“Unlike someone, all they did was asking me ‘Why are you still sitting here waiting?’ when they got
here. They should ask the manager to arrange a table for us if they are capable. Such a shame when
they can’t shut up about it." Julie said sarcastically while holding her arms, without looking at Quincy.
Quincy sighed.
Just then, the waitress came over and invited them upstairs enthusiastically to a VIP lounge.
The room number was "888". It was spacious and bright with red carpets. There was a precious-
looking table, chairs and two tall blue-and-white porcelains. The decoration and furniture looked
priceless.
Yair panicked a little at first glance of the room. He hurriedly asked the waitress. "What is the price of
this lounge?"
"Well, this is the most luxurious lounge in our restaurant, with a minimum expense of 50,000 yuan."
The waiter said politely.
Hearing the price of 50,000, Yair’s heart sank. He thought that today’s meal would be 10,000 yuan at
most. 50,000 yuan was too much for him!
"Why don't we change another box, Yair?" Julie said. She has never spent 50,000 yuan on anything, let
alone Yair and Anne who were still students. How could they afford such a pricey meal?
"It's okay. I like this lounge a lot. Let’s just eat it here." Yair said, while wiping the sweat on his forehead
and biting his teeth. He really didn't want to lose face in front of so many people.
"You don't have to pay, sir. Our manager said that you are VIP guests. It is our honor to have you here
at our hotel. Today's meal is on the house." The waitress said with a smile.
On the house! Yair was ecstatic as if a death row prisoner who was just pardoned.
He looked at the waitress with his eyes wide open, which looked ridiculous.
"Please have a seat. We will serve you all right away. Our signature dishes are on the way." The
waitress smiled and left the lounge.
"Wow, you are such a man with prestige. Not only did you get us the most luxurious lounge, but also for
free. Who else would receive treatment like this?" Julie sat down while praising Yair with a proud face.
This boyfriend of her own daughter’s was indeed impressive. She was satisfied.
"By the way, what does your family do to be so prestige, Yair?" Diana was also very curious about Yair.
"Our family runs a small construction company, with an income of more than 10 million yuan a year. It
was not worth mentioning," Yair said casually, while rubbing his nails.
"Hey, people like us should be called refugees if 10 million yuan is not worth mentioning!" Aviana said
with a smile. "What does your family do, young man? Do they earn tens of thousands a year?" She
glanced at Quincy again, and asked disdainfully.
"My family is not in business, and of course can't earn tens of thousands. Satisfied?" Quincy didn't
bother to talk to snobs in front of him at all.
Julie mocked Quincy again for being poor.
Not soon later, the waiters served all the delicacies on the table. There was pork chop with tomato
sauce, corn cream mushroom soup, vegetable and fruit salad, top steak, fried salmon...
They were all top western food.
It was eye-opening for Julie and others. They didn’t even know how to use knives and forks. Anne had
to teach them. Seeing that Jane and Quincy used knives and forks quite skillfully, while they are
teaching Hannah hand in hand, Julie was quite upset. Judging from that, aren't they the same as a
hillbilly like Hannah?
"Oh well, don’t you two know how to use knives and forks? Have you even eaten western food?" Julie
asked in disbelief.
"I used to work part-time here" Jane said.
"Haha, I thought you’ve had western food before. It turned out to be a part-time job." Julie sneered,
then muttered. "Knowing how to use knife and work is meaningless if you couldn’t afford western food.
You don’t even have access to it.”
Just then, the door was pushed open, and Manager Miller walked in while taking a bow.
"How is everyone doing? How do you like the food?" Manager Miller said politely. As soon as he
walked in, his eyes fixed on Quincy. Of course, he didn't dare to stare at him, just laying eyes on him
humbly.
"It was wonderful, thank you for your hospitality, Manager Miller. I really appreciate it." Yair stood up,
shook the manager’s hand, and said with a smile.
How nice was Manager Miller to come over to check on us? I should be polite as well.
"Um..." Manager Miller was intended to talk to Quincy at first. But Yair held his hand tight while smiling
at him passionately. Manager Miller couldn’t figure out the relationship between Yair and Quincy. He
could only smile friendly.
Yair finally let Manager Miller go after talking for a while.
"I selected two bottles of red wine from our hotel's inventory to welcome you all. Just a little token to
show my respect to you." said Manager Miller. A waiter came in with two bottles of red wine. The
texture of the bottles were extraordinary, judging from the two bottles..
Manager Miller introduced as he took one bottle with a smile. He wanted to put it in front of Quincy
personally to show his respect. What he didn’t expect was Yair walked up with a smile on his face.
"How nice of you, Manager Miller! You shouldn’t have..." Yair held the wine bottle and said something
stilted. To Manager Miller’s surprise, Yair grabbed the red wine in his hand. He looked at the bottle and
exclaimed. "Holy cow, this is a 1992 Louis XIV. It worth for more than 40,000 on the market. Thank you
so much, Manager Miller. How do you know that I’ve always wanted to have a taste of it? You know me
so well…”
