CHAPTER 56
CHAPTER 56
Chapter 56 75% Chapter 56 Xander could not hold back his smiles as he slowly scrolled through his phone while reading the news about Summer. He was more than proud seeing the positive comments, but then, the thought of things never working out between them again tore his heart into shreds. Grieving about this was not going to do him any good, but sadly, he could not stop this feeling. He could not stop this sadness that kept overwhelming him. “I was just trying to protect you, son” No matter how he thought about that, it still sounded and felt crazy and ridiculous. What exactly was she protecting him from? To think he never looked like who needed to be protected. It’s really crazy. The sound of the footsteps approaching behind him caught his attention, and he quickly wiped the trail of tears on his cheeks before he turned to find Lisa walking inside the garden where he had been standing, just drowning in thoughts. “Lisa… It’s you…” He paused and forced a smile even though he knew he didn’t have to pretend in the presence of his sister that he was fine. She was of course the last person he could ever lie to “Hmm… Have you got something to eat? Lisa stood beside him, staring at the beautiful flowers in the garden, and he sighed. “Not yet. I don’t feel like it,” He shook his head, and she scoffed. “You can’t starve yourself, man. It’s past 4pm already. Are you planning to go to bed without eating?” She scoffed and glanced at him. “I don’t just feel like it,” He forced a smile and exhaled deeply. Silence crept into the atmosphere for the next few seconds “Isaw the news…” Lisa paused and smiled as she glanced at him and returned to gaze into space, “She looked suspicious when we met. She was living so good for someone who claimed to be squatting with a friend,” She chuckled briefly and sighed. Though Summer lied to her about herself,
but f u c k that! She could only care less about that. What mattered to her was the fact that she was doing well, and nothing else. “I’m really happy for her,” She exhaled deeply, and he nodded. “Hmm,” “It was s shocking. I never imagined the same surgeon was my beautiful friend. I’m so happy.” Lisa squeaked excitedly. “You don’t seem surprised about the news. Are you not *I knew about it all along.” He cut her off, and and she pulled a puzzled look. “How do you mean? I mean, how did you know about that? Did she tell you?” Lisa inquired curiously as she turned to him, looking up at his face as if the answer to her questions were written there. “Not really. After Mom was diagnosed and was said to need a surgery, I kept reaching out to many surgeons, but none of them could help because it was hard..” He paused and exhaled deeply. “My friend, doctor Henry told me about an experienced surgeon who had been in the field for years and had never had a single failed surgery. Rumor also had it that the surgeon had cured someone of the same illness as Mom through surgery…” He shrugged and continued. “I tried several times to get to this surgeon, and of course, I offered a huge amount of money when my requests were declined every single time, I was wondering what was going on, then one year later, I found out the surgeon was Summer,” 11:23 Wed, 12 Jun Chapter 56 Lisa’s mouth dropped open in shock|||| “Wow! That’s That’s a whole lot of drams. She breathed out as she crossed her arms on her chest. “Well, I would ve declined the request too if I was in her shoes, anyway.” She shrugged sarcastically as she rolled her eyes, and he glanced at her. “I mean, after what happened, you weren’t expecting her to operate on Mam no matter the amount of money you offered, yeah? You guys practically treated her like a piece of trash and…”
“Lisa!” He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “I was just saying the truth though,” She shrugged and rolled her eyes. “Lisa… E know what Mom did was wrong. She should never have done s such a thing because nobody deserves that… But can you please be nice to her?” He held her hand and looked into her eyes. “I know you must hate her now, but for the sake of her health, can you please take things easy on her?” Lisa gazed back at him silently. “You don’t have to go see her… I understand if you don’t want to, but you know she’s still our Mom, right? “Are you supporting or defending her?” She yanked his hand off and stepped away from him. He breathed in and out with his eyes closed. “This is hard for me, Lisa… Everything is driving me crazy and I can’t even think straight at the moment, but still… Mom is sick and you know that, right?” He held her hand again and looked into her eyes pleadingly. “I know it’s hard not to, but can you please not do anything? Just lie low and not do anything at least until Mom gets out of the hospital- “And you think that’s ever going to happen? You think she won’t end up dying?” She scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Why would you say that, Lisa? You are a woman like her, have you forgotten? It’s not that I’m supporting what she did, but she still deserves our love, you know? She is still our Mom, and that cannot be denied,” He placed his hands on her shoulders, and she scoffed. “Yes, I’m a woman… I’ll be a mother later in my life also, but I would never do what she did. I would never- “I know you would never do such a thing. Lisa…” He paused and exhaled deeply. “This is your brother asking you to please do him a favor. This is your broken brother asking you to please make things easy for him. If you really love me, can you do that for me, please?”. “What about Summer? What about my friend? You are not the only important person to me,
Xander…” She paused then stepped away from him and scoffed. “Why are you acting like you are the victim here? Yes, you are, but Summer was the one who got her name dirtied. She was the one who got broken… She was the one who lived in your life as a cheat for years before now. Do you think you have right to think about Mom in this situation? What about Summer? Are you thinking about her the same way?” She snapped at her as tears streamed down her cheeks bitterly. “Yes, I love you so much that I’ll do anything for you. I love you so much that it hurt me seeing you in pain, but luck that! I’m sorry, but I won’t listen to you this time. I won’t do what you’re asking. She paused and bit her lip as tears poured down her cheeks. “You think it doesn’t hurt me seeing Mom in that situation? Do you think I was happy talking that way to her? You think I didn’t feel sad and disappointed in myself that I wasn’t being a good daughter to her? Yes, I feel sad, but justice should never have anything to do with personal feeling and setting my Chapter 56 Wed, 12 Jun 74% feelings aside in this case is exactly what I’m going to do. Don’t try to stop me,” And with that, she turned and walked out on him without sparing another glanceConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
