CHAPTER 79
CHAPTER 79
12:37 Sun, 16 Jun Chapter 79 Chapter 79 Summer Frost POV “You should leave, Xander,” I pushed Xander away hurriedly. “Why should I? Who is he?” Xander looked at me questioningly. “Why are you still hanging around Summer? Didn’t she tell you she’ll be engaged soon?” Xander looked at me with the ‘who is he?’ look, but I turned my face away and bit my lip. “Anyway…” He paused then walked over to the sofa where he was seated earlier, and picked his eyeglasses which he must’ve forgotten. “I told you, Summer. Make sure you get out of here as soon as possible. We have a deal to seal,” And with one last glare at Xander who looked confused, he finally exited the ward, and I released the breath I’d been holding unknowingly. “Who was that, Summer? Who is he?” Xander turned to me curiously. “He is no one,” I replied to him casually, and he scoffed. “What do you mean he is no one? You looked terrified of him earlier. Why would you look that way if he was nobody important,” He came to sit in front of me on the bed. “Is there anything you want to talk about? I’m here for you,” He cupped my cheek in his palm, his eyes gazing into mine. “I’m fine,” I held his hand and removed it from my cheek. “I want to be alone,” I turned my face and bit my lip. “Are you sure you don’t want to talk to me, Summer? You don’t look fine—” “I want to be left alone, Xander,” Alright. Call me when you want to see me,” He gave me a long stare before he finally exited the ward, and I burst into tears. As much as I wanted him around, I also needed time alone to cry my pafn out as it was the only way I would feel better. Shortly after he left, my phone beeped, and I hesitantly reached for it.
‘Something urgent came up. I will come back to the hospital briefly, I need to step out for now. Call me if anything happens. I’ll come right away or find a way to sort it out. Make sure you eat something’ Came a text from Xander which made me a bit worried. What could’ve happened? Was it something serious? I was about to reply to his message when a knock came on the door, and Hunter walked inside after I ushered whoever was outside in. “Hey!” He smiled at me as he sat on the chair beside the bed, and I nodded. “Hey!” “How are you feeling now?” He looked into my eyes with concern. “I’m fine,” I nodded, and he sighed. “I haven’t seen you in a while. Is everything alright?” “Yes. Fortunately, everything is fine. I just had some things to take care of, and since Chloe has been here with you, I was less worried about you being. 12:37 Sun, 10 Jun Chapter 79 alone here,” He held my hand and squeezed it gently, and I slowly nodded. “You don’t look good. Is everything alright?” He looked at me with a worried look on, and I nodded. An awkward silence crept into the atmosphere afterwards. It lasted for seconds before I finally broke it. “What do you think the future has in store for us, Hunter?” He gave me a long stare, then shrugged and exhaled deeply. “What do you think will happen if we eventually get married?” I asked him again in case he didn’t understand my question. 99% “How will you cope with a woman who doesn’t feel anything for you? Will you be able to spend the rest of your life with such woman?” I looked into his eyes and asked him. “It’s going to be difficult…” The look in his eyes didn’t lie. He was being sincere. “It’s going to be difficult for you and for myself… I’m going to feel frustrated and sad especially when you things are not moving smoothly, but I really don’t mind, Summer…” He held my hand and kissed the back of my palm briefly. “My love is enough for us. I will make sure you never spend a day of your life being sad… I’d rather be sad than watch you get sad—” “What about me, Hunter? What about how I’ll feel? What about the pain I will pass through? What about the frustration, the depression, and the anxiety of being with a man I have no feelings for? What about my emotions?” A drop of tears slid down my cheek as I failed to fight it back. “They say if you love someone, you would do anything to make them happy, which includes letting them go—” “What would I have done when I tried to do it and it never worked for me? What would I have done when my heart kept calling out to you each time nonstop?” “Hunter—” My voice trailed off as he held my hand and placed it on his chest, his eyes gazing into mine like he wanted to see through my soul. you “Can feel it beating? It beats for you alone. You alone makes my heart beat this way… No woman has done that to me. Can you at least give us a chance to give this a try? I promise, you won’t regret it,” He pleaded with me. “You are a nice guy, Hunter… But we are both going to get hurt if we keep doing this. We need to stop, please. You need to stop Dad while we still have the time to. You will find a woman who would love and cherish you, but that woman is not me… Why don’t you do me this favour?” I pleaded with him even though I knew he would never listen to me. Who knows, maybe things might just work out in my favour today. “I’m sorry, Summer. But I can’t give up. I won’t give you up for any reason, and that is a promise,” Turned out talking to him was a waste of time in the first place. I should’ve known better what his response was going to be…
