Love At Last

Chapter 50 – Married to Lily.

Cayden

I was feeling a little bit bad for leaving Lily all alone, but I just had to do it. I had to excuse myself and speak with my investors and business partners.

After a while, I started feeling worried about Lily, so I looked back to see her. I was a little bit startled when I didn’t see her. I tried looking at her with my eyes, while listening to my business partners, but it wasn’t just working. I was really worried about her, so I quickly excused myself from them.

I started searching for and I suddenly turned around when I caught sight of her somewhere.

When I turned, I saw that she was standing with someone and the person coincidentally looked like my rival.

My blood started boiling and I just didn’t know what to do. The fact that he even had the effrontery to meet Lily and talk to her without fear made me feel angrier.

I ignored the little voice at the back of my head that was telling me to calm down and I just started walking towards them. I wanted to call out Lily’s name with every anger in me, but I decided to calm down.

I didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention to myself. When I got to her, I dragged my rival by his collar and we started having a small fight.

The fight wasn’t big at all, but I pushed him to a table. He retaliated by pushing me back and a lot of people came to meet me to check if I was okay.

When I finally stood up, I didn’t see him again, I could only see a very angry Lily standing and looking at me.

I felt a little bit bad because I didn’t want to draw any form of bad attention to myself, but here I was, fighting someone right in front of everyone.

With the look that was on Lily’s face when I dragged my rival away, I don’t think she knew that she was with my rival, if she knew, then I’m sure that she wouldn’t have talked to him at all.

When I got to her, she angrily left my side and she went to the other side of the hall.

I didn’t want to follow her, to avoid drawing more attention to myself. I just stood there and I rested against the wall, watching the whole hall go back to normal.

I turned my head and I saw my rival coming back into the dinner hall. He growled at me and I eyed him too.

He went to sit at the big dinner table and when I saw that everyone was going to the table too, I went over to Lily to go to the dining table with her.

“Come on. Let’s go.” I said to Lily and she stared at me for a while, before she followed me without saying a word.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

When I got to the table, I brought out a chair for Lily and she sat down quietly. I watched her as she exchanged a look with my foolish rival and I cleared my throat loudly to show that I could see her.

The dinner started on an awkward note, but it did.

“How is everyone today? I hope you guys didn’t beat one another up.” My rival said and I glared at him because I knew that he was referring to me. I saw that Lily stole a glance at me and other people too did the same.

I cleared my throat again and I didn’t say anything..

“Mr Cayden, how are you today?” He said again and nobody said anything. I turned my head to Lily as she cleared her throat uncomfortably.

“I need to go to the bathroom.” Lily said because of the awkward silence and I looked around before staring at her.

“You should sit down.” I said in between my teeth. I glared at her as she looked at me and she averted her gaze immediately.

It seemed like she understood what I meant because she gave me a small nod before looking at everyone.

“So, Mr Cayden, how’s your business doing?” One of my business partners said and I turned my attention to him to answer him. I gave him a very detailed explanation about my business and when I was done, I threw a small nod at my rival because I was proud of my business.

A few minutes later, everyone started chattering amongst themselves. The only people that weren’t saying anything were Lily and I.

I moved closer to her and I placed my mouth behind her ear.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered and I backed away from her. I watched as a smile appeared on her face and I smiled at her back. I was happy that that was over at least.

“Mr Cayden, where and when did you meet her?” My rival suddenly said and everyone stopped talking and they turned their attention to us.

Lily looked at me lovingly with a mocking smile on her face, she was also waiting for an answer. I searched her eyes for help and she just shrugged lightly.

I looked back at everyone that was waiting for an answer and I started speaking slowly.

“Um. I met her some months back, in a really special place.” I said and I looked back at Lily. Nobody seemed satisfied with my answer and I rested my back on my chair, not ready to give another answer.

I could see that my rival wanted to ask more questions and I mentally prepared myself for them.

“Are you guys married or what? Let us know.” My rival said and I looked at him with a little bit of sarcasm in my eyes. He glared back at me and I saw that he wasn’t joking about it.

I suddenly bursted into laughter because being married to Lily was so funny to me, I am not even a fan of marriage. I stopped laughing when I saw the confused look on Lily’s face.

She looked at me with a little bit of anger in her eyes and she excused herself from the table. I tried stopping her, but she didn’t answer me.

She just left without saying a word and we all watched her as she left the table.
