Chapter 344 Carla Came To The Hua Group
Chapter 344 Carla Came To The Hua Group
Carla immediately straightened up and stood aside upon hearing the voice outside the door.
Although she already knew Noah and didn't like him that much, she came into the company as an
employee. Thus, Noah was still her boss. It was just rightful of her to respect him here to some degree.
It was then that the secretary opened the door and Noah came in.
His eyes instantly landed on his desk and saw how it was obviously messed up by someone. He then
turned to Carla who was standing next to the desk while looking back at him innocently. It was as if she
didn't do anything.
Without any response, Noah went straight to his desk. He was about to sit when he noticed a gray
footprint on his black leather chair. It wasn't that big and the shoe size already gave away who the
culprit was.
Thinking, he shot Carla another look. On the other hand, Carla was too busy either looking at the
ceiling or checking the sole of her shoe. Thus, she didn't see the wry smile that cracked Noah's lips.
'Same, good old Carla. It seems that she didn't change at all. She's still the type of person who dares to
love and hate at the same time. More so, the kind who won't allow anyone to humiliate or bully her, ' he
thought.
"I asked you to come here to give you some pointers. I'm your superior in this company. I hope you can
keep your personal and professional life separate. Don't bring unnecessary emotions to work. All you
need to do here is to work properly."
While talking, Noah walked up to Carla and looked at her under his nose. She was a lot shorter than
him.
He continued, "There are only very few people here who knows about our relationship. I hope you don't
feel bad about it. Keeping your identity a secret is for the sake of the Hua Group and the Hua family."
Allen just died. It wouldn't be good for everyone to know who his biological daughter was at this time
since that would leak the fact that his previous children were all adopted. That was one of the most
valuable secrets of the Hua family. The Hua family was a rich and noble one and anything that could
affect its image would eventually harm the Hua Group.
It was the reason why Allen and Andrea chose not to disclose this matter publicly.
While gazing at Carla, Noah casually noticed a pen cap in her jean pocket. The pen looked familiar. It
was like he had seen it somewhere before.
"Carla, no matter how much you hate me and don't want to see me anymore, I hope you can calm
down when facing me.
I have devoted too much energy and time to the Hua family for so long. You might think that I'm not
ready to give up my power and position. You might also say that I lust for wealth. I'm not going to deny
that. I have worked hard to get all this. I don't have plans of losing them.
It's just human nature. I don't think my idea is wrong," said Noah firmly.
After a couple of blinks, Carla just glanced at Noah and looked away. He continued, "You are not me,
Carla. You won't understand my struggles. I can only hope for you to understand me. I'll be satisfied
even if you just give me a little understanding. Moreover, I'm still hoping for you to regard me as your
elder brother here at least, rather than your enemy."
Sadness was filling Noah by that time. It was easy to tell that Carla no longer respected him as before.
He never meant to hurt her in the first place if it wasn't for his ultimate goal.
He reached out to her pretty face and let his fingertips touch her cheek. She was the most beautiful
thing alive, plain face with her long dark hair tied in a simple ponytail.
"I bet that Terence could have been more ruthless if he was in my shoe. And I also know that if he was
indeed me, you would be very happy instead, wouldn't you?"
A myriad of thoughts crowded into Carla's mind when she heard those words. She was instantly
occupied, making it impossible for her to think of anything else.
Her sight landed on Noah's injured eye as she looked at him. Its corners were still bluish since it hadn't
recovered from Terence's assault yet. Nonetheless, his brown eyes were still mild as before, as if it
held no anger against her even after all that had happened.
'I wish it was a dream. But what happened is true.
Do I hate Noah?
I think I hate him. I hate that it's his plan that makes Terence suspicious of me.
But there have been countless good times between me and this man. Thus, my hatred for him is rather
complex.
It is very contradicting.
I can't just throw everything that happened between us although I hate him with all my heart. He is a
superb liar and I couldn't even tell when he is telling the truth. But then, his kindness to me feels real.
It's possible that not all his kindness is just intended to get what he wants.
It's the reason why I feel sorry that Terence hit him.
I have always treated him as my elder brother. He saved and protected me multiple times. All in all, I
couldn't just completely ignore what he has done for me, ' pondered Carla.
While trying to get herself back together, Carla pulled away from his hand and lowered her head. She
then said, "Don't ask me to stop hating you because I couldn't. In fact, I don't want to hate you either.
As long as you promise to dissolve our engagement as soon as possible, I can forget every wrong
thing you have done. Just like what you mentioned, you are my mother's son, well, adopted son. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Moreover, you have made a great contribution to the Hua family. You are my elder brother, Noah."
A smile immediately made its way to Noah's face the moment he heard her. He pulled his hand away
and then slowly clenched it into a fist.
"Carla, check in at the Distribution Department first. You don't have much experience, so you start at
the bottom," ordered Noah as he turned back to his desk and found a certificate of appointment from
his messed up files.
He took out a pass card from his drawer and handed it to her.
"Here. You are still my fiancee after all. Of course, there will still be some special treatment for you.
Take this pass card first. If there's an emergency or... if you want to see me, you can come to me
directly. No one will dare to stop you with this card."
Carla immediately took out the pass card that Albert gave her and waved it on his face, "No, thanks. I
have this one."
Shaking his head, Noah smiled gently, "Mine has a lot of advantages compared to that. I was about to
tell my secretary to pick you up personally from the front desk earlier. I'm sorry that she failed to do so."
'So the consequence of being late for a while is that my desk and chair were messed up. Plus, she
stole my personalized pen, ' Noah wondered as he wordlessly glanced at the pen in her pocket.
Noah was still in the midst of his thought when Carla suddenly took the card from his hand. She then
bowed her head and rubbed her nose. Did she appear too narrow-minded?
"Noah, if there is nothing more, I will go out of the office now."
After saying these words, Carla turned and began walking away.
She was about to open the door when Noah spoke again, "Wait. Take this."
Noah grabbed a small box from the table and handed it to her.
"What's this?" asked Carla.
She looked at the small white and blue box. She was puzzled, wondering what could be inside it.
"You just took the pen. How can you use it without ink? This ink is specifically made for that pen. Any
other ink will not work well with that pen," answered Noah.
He then put the box in Carla's hand and went back to his desk. He badly needed to call his secretary.
Someone was needed to clean up what this woman did to his desk.
Amazed, Carla curved her lips into a smile. She unconsciously took the pen out and touched the tip of
it. It was pure hatred that caused her to take the pen. However, his reaction to it was monumental and
now she was feeling guilty. It was obvious that he knew about what she had done, but then he chose to
be discreet about it and didn't confront her.
She suddenly wanted to give his pen back. But that would be too embarrassing. Upon thinking that he
didn't lack this pen, she went out of his office with the ink and certificate of appointment in her hand.
She had been in an emotional turmoil since she came down the stairs.
'Noah's acting skill is excellent! He could pass for an award!
Or am I just too trusting and gullible?
It could have been better if Noah is indifferent to me. Why does he have to be so kind? I'd rather be
ruthless in dealing with him!' wondered Carla.
Shaking her head, Carla told herself to calm down and stop thinking too much.
She looked ahead and found that she had arrived at the Distribution Department.
Meanwhile, with his chin propped in one of his palms, Noah stood by the glass wall inside his office
while the cleaner behind him was fixing his desk.
'I once said that I was willing to fight against anyone to get Carla's love.
I must win her heart if I want to be in a win-win situation.
However, the trust between Carla and Terence is far stronger than I expected.
Carla may be kind but that doesn't mean she isn't smart.
She sometimes looks heartless but actually, she is very rational.
Even I don't have the power to push her to just do what I want.
It seems like this situation has already been concluded.
I can't be too anxious about making Carla obey me. Otherwise, she would just get more and more
disgusted with me.
Nonetheless, if I'm not really in a hurry to get anything, Carla would see Terence over and over for
sure. Everything I have done will go to waste if the two get together, ' he thought.
"Everything has been tidied up, Mr. Noah," said a voice from his behind.
The secretary was responsible for sorting out the documents on the table and the cleaner had already
gone out.
That call made Noah come back to his senses. He turned around and walked to his desk. He was just
about to sit down when he saw the clean leather chair. He couldn't help laughing.
Then he sat down and took the documents he was going to read and sign today.
"Mr. Noah, there is a charity dinner in the evening. We are invited.
The dinner is going to be held at the Angel Charity Hall in JA City. Do you want me to invite Miss
Megan to come with you? Or are you going to the dinner party with your fiancee? Let me know once
you already have a decision. I'll have it ready in advance,"
the secretary stood aside and said dutifully.
