Love's Redemption

Redmption 103

Redmption 103

I immediately glanced at Brandon and rebuked Kara, “You must be so exhausted that you’re spouting nonsense.”

“I’m not talking nonsense. I’m saying you two are workaholics. It feels like I can’t hold on any longer.” Kara slumped in the car seat.

“You need to. We’re almost done.” I had specifically checked the remaining lighting areas, and at our current pace, we should be done in ten days.

“How much longer?” Kara sounded like she couldn’t get through another day.

I glanced at Brandon in the rearview mirror and replied, “Around ten days, I

guess.”

“Ten?” Kara sounded utterly dejected.

When we arrived at the hotel, Kara had already fallen asleep. After failing to wake her up after several tries, I leaned close to her ear and whispered, “If your don’t wake up, I’ll have Brandon carry you!”

“Sure. I want to be carried,” Kara said as she reached out her hands.

I laughed and pulled her up. “Come on. Let’s go.”

With her eyes half–closed, Kara let me lead her into the elevator and upstairs.

When we arrived at our doors, Brandon, who had been silent, spoke up,”

Madeline, I need to talk to you.”

My heart skipped a beat. “Alright.”

Kara was so sleepy that she didn’t think much of it and went inside.

I turned to Brandon and asked, “What is it, Mr. Howell?”

“I’ve spoken to my company. I’ll be finishing the work here.”

“Oh,” I responded.

I wasn’t surprised. If he had left, I would have truly quit as well.

Even though the lighting works at the amusement park would continue to operate without us, it would be impossible to meet the deadline. Most

importantly, the quality might differ as well.

Chris wouldn’t want me to leave just yet, either. Since he didn’t push Brandon’s company to have Brandon replaced, he was probably afraid I’d make good on my threat.

“Are you planning to start your own company after this project ends?”

Brandon’s question took me by surprise. I hadn’t expected him to see through. my intentions.

“That’s right,” I admitted.

He nodded slightly. “We can speed up our progress.”

“Huh?” I was puzzled.

Speeding up our progress meant more overtime hours. Even if Brandon and I had no problems with that, Kara would never last.

“There’s no need to work overtime. We can finish ahead of schedule just by

sticking to our current hours.”

I laughed. “You must be joking.”

“No. I’m serious,” Brandon said with a straight face.

I pursed my lips. “There’s no need for that. Let’s just complete work on time as planned.”

“Don’t you want to leave? I’ll hasten it so you can leave earlier.”

His words stunned me.

But I replied, “No need. Even if we finish ahead of schedule, I won’t leave until the amusement park passes all inspections and officially opens.” This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Brandon’s gaze darkened slightly, but I didn’t explain further. Since I didn’t intend to get involved with him, there was no need to share my thoughts.

The next day, Brandon had already started work when Kara and I arrived at the amusement park. I learned from the amusement park’s manager that he had arrived at 5:00 am.

It seemed like he still wanted to finish work ahead of schedule. He was going

to work overtime himself without involving Kara and me.

“Good morning, Ms. Crown!” someone greeted from behind.

“Good morning!” I responded out of habit but immediately felt something off.

Turning around, I saw Conrad dressed in work overalls and a safety helmet. I was stunned.
