Redmption 115
Redmption 115
It was true that Chris‘ friends used to call him “horndog“. However, anyone who called him that was kicked out of his circle of friends a long time ago, and they weren’t even allowed to stay in Hilcord.
Chris was an overly sensitive person. It was probably for the best that he didn’t have a lot of power, or he would really misuse his authority. In medieval times, he would be the evil, manipulative advisor to the king.
Jewel’s expression worsened. She knew I was insulting her and Chris, and her face reddened. “Madeline, how could you say that? After all, you loved him once. It’s basic decency to not degrade your previous partner after breaking up.
“I never thought that you were like this.”
Was she trying to defend her lover?
“Decency‘?” I chuckled. “I only give that to those who deserve it. When were still married, you made out with your husband’s friends. You also seduced another woman’s fiancé while carrying your dead husband’s unborn
child.
you
“Tell me. With your level of decency, do you deserve mine?”
Jewel’s face paled. “W What are you talking about?”
“You said it yourself. If anyone were talking nonsense, it would be you.” I paused and stared at her. “You said that in the restaurant that day.”
Suddenly, Jewel was silent, as if all the air had been sucked out of her lungs. After a while, she regained her senses to say pitifully, “He was the one who
came on to me. It wasn’t me…”
“Is that so? But it takes two to tango.” I didn’t give her any breathing room.
Jewel was like a stubborn cockroach. I needed to deliver a harsh blow if I
wanted to ensure she would never bother me again.
Her tears started flowing like a river. “He ruined me! If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be like this today. This is what he owes me.”
She was so agitated that her body trembled, and it was hard to tell whether it
was an act or not.
Others started to look over because
were plenty of surveillance camerone was crying, but I wasn’t worried. There
in the lobby. I didn’t touch her. So, even if
anything happened, it would have nothing to do with me.
I watched her tears as I contemplated her words.
Chris ruined her? He owed her something?
I recalled what Chris said about Jewel’s mother–in–law hating her because of her husband’s death. She was carrying her dead husband’s child, but her husband’s family was still unwilling to see her. Suddenly, something clicked in my mind. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
My heart twinged. “What does Chris owe you?”
Jewel’s lips parted, but as she looked at me, she closed her mouth again.
Was it something truly unspeakable?
The more she tried to hide, the more curious I got. “Why aren’t you saying anything? Is it something you cannot talk about, or are you simply lying?”
She pursed her lips. “It’s none of your business. Listen. If you’re angry at me, just take it out on me, and don’t drag others into it.”
I frowned.
Was she here to berate me on behalf of Chris because I hit his head?
“You’re talking about how I hit Chris‘ head, right?” I said directly.
“He’s hurt really badly. He needed to get a dozen stitches on the back of his head! Madeline, you were in love with him, but how could you be so heartless as to hurt him?”
The way Jewel was talking made it seem like she was already his wife.
However, she still wasn’t his wife. She was just making trouble for herself, so I gladly accommodated her wishes.
“Really? Only a dozen stitches? I was already merciful by not smashing his brains out.”
Jewel choked. “You…”
“Do you know why I hit him? Do you know that it was because he wanted to force himself on me in his office?” I stared at her. “Is it because you’re unable to satisfy him as a pregnant woman?”
Her face became ashen, and she was speechless.
Even so, I didn’t hold back. “Ms. Massey, now that you know why I hit him,
please go home and think of a solution. After all, you were a married woman as well. It shouldn’t be difficult, right?”
