Love's Redemption

Redmption 184

Redmption 184

This was the second time he had caught me in an awkward moment!

The first time was when I saw Brandon half–naked and wrapped only in a towel; this time, he overheard me thirsting over him.

I couldn’t help but suspect that he did this on purpose, because why did he only open the door now when I had knocked for so long?

At that critical moment, the only way to get out of this awkwardness was to act drunk. That way, I could then conveniently say I had no recollection of it and save myself from embarrassment.

“Look, Liz. He’s right here!” I acted like the previous conversation didn’t happen and casually pointed at

Brandon.

Lisa smiled awkwardly and looked at him. “She’s drunk

“I’m not drunk!” I collaboratively played my part. In history, no drunks would ever admit they were drunk.

However, Lisa pinched me in the waist. “Oh, right. You’ve only had one glass of wine. How drunk can you

be?”

At a loss for words, I witnessed my trustworthy best friend betraying me in real time. Of course, who else but my best friend would know the best moment to set me up?

I struggled to look Brandon in the eyes, yet he stared at me. “What did you need me for?”

I

“N–Nothing,” I stuttered as I turned around to lead Lisa into my house.

“I’m looking for you, though.” His voice rang out behind me.

At that point, I wanted nothing more than to disappear mmediately. “I’m dizzy. Let’s talk tomorrow.” Without giving him a chance to respond, I swiftly headed into my house.

“Haha, look at you.” Lisa laughed at me as soon as the door closed.

I glared at her. My face was teise and flushed. Nonetheless, she continued laughing without feeling sorry. “You can’t even own up to your actions. Now that you’re exposed, you should have no problem getting him in bed. By then, who cares about some Tom, Dick, or Harry?”

Faced with Lisa’s teasing, I frustratedly pushed her to the door. “Go on. Leave. This marks the last day of our friendship…”

“We’ll have champagne the day you finally sleep with him, alright?” She genuinely wished Brandon and I would be together.

After Lisa left, my face remained flushed from embarrassment. On top of that, I kept hearing movement from the opposite unit and was afraid Brandon would come knocking on my door.

The truth was, I wanted to see him today; I wanted to ask about the punks and his investigation of his father’s case. But here I was… too embarrassed to ask.

Eventually, I lay on the couch and managed to fall asleep despite my unsettling emotions. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

That night, I slept on the couch and woke up around 5:00 am. I heard the door from opposite me closing, and I deduced Brandon either went for a jog or left.

When I ran to my window, I saw him outside wearing a backpack and riding away on his bicycle.

Did he cycle back and forth every day over such a long distance? That was the first time I’d noticed this.

Still, I breathed a sigh of relief that he had left. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about bumping into him and bringing up last night’s incident.

At noon, I had just finished my work at the office and was ready to investigate our boss‘ identity when Lisa called. Recalling how she teased me last night, gritted my teeth and answered the call. “Hey, Dr. Carline…”

Before I could say more, Lisa interrupted me. “Maddie, Jewel just came here for an abortion. What the heck happened?”

My face twitched, and I instantly became alert. Then, I recalled the conversation we had at the cafe. “Has she gone through with it?”
