Love's Redemption

Redmption 201

Redmption 201

I began tapping in the last two digits of their birthdays, but then I figured that it was too easy of a guess. Also, Zack and Bree seemed to like Chris a little more, I put Chris‘ birthday in the front, then Conrad’s at

the back.

I felt my blood pressure spiking as I tapped in the last digit. My heart felt like it was going to leap out of my chest.

Stewart was only ten meters away from me now. I stared straight at the screen, not daring to even look at

him,

The screen lit up. It was the right password. Immediately, I saw that the hidden route was headed toward Sylking Sanatorium.

I knew about Sylking Sanatorium. It was one of the sanatoriums I was investigating.

My efforts weren’t in vain after all.

Now that I had gotten my answer, I sighed in relief and deleted my search history. Just then, Stewart opened the door.

His

gaze fell

on my hands, then at the map on the screen. My hands were trembling, and I had broken out in a cold sweat.

“What were you doing, Maddie?” Stewart asked,

I swallowed the lump in my throat and came up with an excuse. “I wanted to put on some music, but I wasn’t sure how.”

Stewart looked at me doubtfully, obviously not buying it.

I told him I was feeling sick. It was unlikely for a sick person to want to listen to music.

It was a terrible lie, but there was no going back. I had to keep it up. “It hurt so badly that I asked my doctor friend what to do, and she said that listening to calming music would help. She also wants me to get it checked out at the hospital because it could be acute enteritis or appendicitis.”

I felt guilty telling lies. Since when had I become such a liar?

But there was no way around it. I had to find out if my father’s death was an accident.

“If that’s the case…” Stewart said as he handed me the pills. “I’ll send you to the hospital. I’ll put on whatever music you want.”

“Thank you, Stewart,” I said, taking the pills. I popped one into my mouth, not even taking a sip of water to go with it.

Eating unprescribed medicine was bad, but a pill like this wasn’t going to kill anybody.

“Here’s some water, Maddie. Why did you take it without water?” Stewart said, immediately handing me a cup of water.

took two swigs from it. At once, bitterness flooded my tongue and my mouth.

“You’re probably in a lot of pain right now. You’re sweating. Going to the hospital is the right choice.” Stewart glanced at me as he drove quickly

My heart began calming down when we finally reached the hospital.

Stewart insisted on sending me in. He said he was afraid that something would happen to me. I had no

choice but to let him escort me to the emergency ward. Then, I secretly texted Lisa, asking for her help.

Thank God she wasn’t due for any surgeries today. She rushed over the moment she could, shielding me from Stewart’s insistence.

“I’m fine, Stewart. Please don’t tell Zack and Bree,” I said before he left.

He merely murmured in response, but I knew that he was going to tell them anyway.

After he left, Lisa looked at me dubiously. “What’s up?”

I told her everything. Her expression turned grim. “Are you sure you want to investigate this, Maddie? Aren’t you going to think things through?”

“About what?” I asked, confused.

Lisa said nothing. It took me a while to figure it out. “Are you afraid that I’ll link it to Zack somehow?”

Lisa did not deny it. My heart sank.

If my father’s death had something to do with Arthur, a major client in Gildon Corporation… My body turned ice cold. I didn’t dare to think about it any further.
