Redmption 63
Redmption 63
I was sure that would only make things more awkward for both Brandon and me in the future if Kara assumed anything.
Besides, Brandon had clearly been pretending not to know me just now when we met. That further convinced me not to let anyone know that we had met before.
“No,” I said.
“Then-”
I
Before Kara could finish her question, I cut her off and said, “It was a guess.”

Kara didn’t eat much of her lunch either. After all, she was mostly distracted by Brandon. She usually had quite the appetite, and she had even ordered her favorite grilled chicken for lunch that day.
It seemed like good food was nothing compared to a good–looking man.
“Guess?” Kara was the type to keep digging until she got to the bottom of things. “How could you guess? Was it super obvious or something?”
I really didn’t know how to answer her, but I knew that she would let her imagination run wild if I didn’t give her a solid answer. Just as I was thinking about what I could say suddenly spotted a small keychain hanging on his bag.
It was an extremely adorable keychain of a white bunny..
“That.” I jutted my chin toward the keychain. “That’s enough evidence.”
“What can that prove?” Kara asked in confusion.
“He’s a grown man. Why would he carry such a cute keychain around? Don’t you think it’s a bit weird?” I asked, taking a sip from the coffee on the table.
It was way too sweet.
Kara had ordered that for me.
“Please just order lemonade or water for me next time,” I reminded her.
Kara didn’t answer. Instead, she stared at the keychain and muttered to herself, “So you’re saying that his girlfriend put it there to assert dominance.”
I was relieved that she had picked up what I was putting down. I patted her on the shoulder and stood up, but she suddenly tugged at the corner of my shirt. “I don’t think that has to be the case. What if he just likes bunnies?”
I fell silent.
“I’ll ask him in a second,” Kara said. The moment she said that, Brandon and Mr. Lachy returned.
Brandon had pretty good instincts. I didn’t even need to call him to let him. know his food was there.
“Mr. Howell, your food is here, Kara said. She excitedly began to open the bag for him and even seemed ready to lay out the utensils for him.
Brandon stopped her right away. “I can do it myself, thanks.”
“I-” Kara clearly wanted to offer her help further, but he said, “I’m a germaphobe.”
I almost burst out laughing.
He had just ordered takeout. Every single part of the takeout had been touched by others. If he really was a germaphobe, he wouldn’t have ordered food from a
restaurant.
He was clearly just stopping Kara from being too eager. I also managed to figure out that he really didn’t have any feelings for her.
However, Kara was so full of dopamine from her newfound crush that she couldn’t sense that at all. She just said, “Okay!” before passing him the bag.
He glanced at my container as he took his utensils out. I had cleverly covered it up even though I hadn’t finished it, so he couldn’t tell.
However, he still asked, “Are you guys done with lunch?”
“Yes.”
“No!”
Kara and I gave two completely different answers. In fact, after she said “No“, she sat down and continued to eat her grilled chicken, which had already gone.

Chapter 63.
I shook my head inwardly at the sight. I guess love really was the best drug.
I couldn’t bear to sit there and decided to pick up my takeout container, ready. to go toss it in the trash outside. Suddenly, I heard Kara say, “Mr. Howell, that’s a gorgeous bunny keychain. Can I have it?”
Hearing that made my legs lock up, almost causing me to trip over my own
feet.
What a straightforward young lady!
“No,” Brandon replied firmly.
I wasn’t surprised at all. Even though I couldn’t see Kara’s face, I could feel her awkwardness from where I was standing. In fact, even I felt awkward on her behalf.
I heard Brandon speak again: “I want to give it to my girlfriend.”
