Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 29
“Apology accepted,” Lumma gazed at Jane indifferently, not knowing what her game was. Lumma added, “But it was Mr. Hills who kicked you out of the Hills Group. No one could change his mind. I suppose you know him better than I do after working with him for years.”
“Lumma, you are the one who can change his mind. He did these for you,” Jane was getting emotional and grabbed Lima’s arms hysterically
Lumma didn’t know whether Jane pinched her injured hand on purpose or not, Jane continued, “Lumma, please. I’m begging you. You’re the only one who can help me. I will be a dead meat if you don’t help me.”
“Jane, let go of me first. You’re hurting me,” Lumma managed to push her away in vain. A normal person couldn’t beat a crazy man, not to mention her arm was hurt.
Jane held onto Lumma and shook wildly, “No, I won’t let you go. I’ll be washed up if I let you go.”
“Let her go!” Adam roared in a deep voice.
Adam gave Jane a fright and immediately, she let go of Lumma, shedding buckets of tears, “Mr. Hills, I have apologized to Lumma. Please forgive me. Don’t fire me.”
Adam strode forward and naturally held Lumma behind him, “Steve.”
Hearing this, Steve showed up from nowhere quietly and left with crazy Jane on his shoulder.
Adam turned back, only to see Lumma’s pale face and beads of sweat rolling down her forehead.
He intended to wipe the sweat for her but stopped abruptly when his fingers were about to touch her forehead.
Lumma’s tender lips moved and weakly shouted, “It hurts.”
Filled with anxiety, Adam hurriedly picked her up in his arms and called for the doctor, “Laura!”
Laura had already arrived, holding a medicine box in his hand. But seeing that they were so close together, he didn’t want to bother them.
Adam carried Lumma into a room, and Laura followed immediately, “Lumma, are you alright?”
Obviously, Lumma was visibly in pain.
She was dizzy from the searing pain.
Pain choked her words and she kept taking deep breaths.
Adam said coldly, “Why are you still standing here? Come here and check her out.”
Lumma was speechless with pain.
At the critical moment, Adam was more reliable, not stupid enough to ask her if she was good. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
He placed her on the sofa and stretched out his hand to gently hold her shoulder. Feeling her trembling in pain, he roared impatiently, “Hurry up!”
He was yelling at Laura, and Lumma shrank back in fright.
Laura said, “You scared Lumma.”
Adam made no response.
Lumma’s coat was draped over her, and the loose pajamas she wore underneath were easy to take off.
When Laura was about to help Lumma take off her pajamas, Adam consciously turned his back and
soon heard Lumma hiss with pain.
He turned his head abruptly, and saw that the thick gauze wrapped around Lumma’s arm was already stained red with blood.
Lumma’s eyes were red from the pain and the tip of her nose was red. She looked pitifully red all over.
Adam wanted to say something to comfort her, but he didn’t know what to say. Finally, he turned his back, “It has nothing to do with you that Jane got the sack.”
Lumma pouted aggrievedly, “I know. I’m not stupid.”
Lumma didn’t know why Jane was so stupid as to think that Adam did this for her sake. Jane wouldn’t think like that if she had any brains.
Given what happened to her lately, Lumma felt she fell on evil days.
Adam added, “Jane had milked a lot of money from the Weschester project she handled lately.”
Lumma remained silent.
No wonder there were no street lights in the scenic spot which was supposed to open to the public next month. The internal management of the hotel sucked. Fortunately, Adam came early and did an investigation around the area for the truth.
Though Jane looked honest, she should have the nerve to embezzle public funds when working with Adam.
Lumma said to herself secretly, “Could it be that Jane didn’t know Adam was a New England schoolmarm that wouldn’t tolerate any corruption?”
