Chapter 1430: Reconciliation

She said, "Serves her right, she deserves it all. She owes me, everything is what she owes me. She should die. Who allowed her to always be better than me? Whatever she does, she does it better than me. Everyone in the family likes her, even the relatives always compare her to me. Even my man, she wants to interfere with him. If she hadn't married, Mrs. Armstrong would be mine now."

"You all think I'm the villain, you all think she's been good to me, that it's my ignorance, that I've wronged her. But do you know, her kindness is just a show-off and pride. She gives me a candy, then keeps flaunting how well she's doing in front of me, how loving she is with her husband. By doing that, she's stabbing me in the heart. So why should I endure her?"

Regina said that Page's goodness, which seemed good to outsiders, was something she initially thought was good too. But slowly, she realized it wasn't. In fact, Page was seeking validation in front of her, wanting to contrast her own blissful family life with Regina's shortcomings. Such a person, in Regina's eyes, was simply unworthy.

Initially, she had considered giving up on Brody. Since he had already married Page, she decided to let it go. But Page's provocations dispelled that thought.

Over the years, whenever Page flaunted how good their marital relationship was, Regina would retaliate with even greater force, using her boyfriend as a pretext to tell Page. Although the sisters maintained a smiling relationship, Page probably harbored some resentment towards Regina.

That's how they coexisted until Regina couldn't bear it anymore because Page seemed to have noticed her relationship with Brody and gradually discovered Vere's identity.

That was something Regina feared, so she had to take action.

As for the current outcome, Regina had no regrets. She said, "What's the use of regret? If regret were useful, I should have fought for it back then. If I had fought, it would have made a difference."

Regina said everything that needed to be said, and the police had already recorded it.

But her only request was for the police to help find Vere. However, the police's response was, "Tell Mr. Simpson and Mrs. Simpson about it."

Since Vere was in her villa, where else could she look?

There was no need to look elsewhere.

But Regina was completely unaware of all this. She still believed her child was in the hands of the kidnappers because the police had confiscated her phone, and the kidnappers couldn't reach her. So, she naturally couldn't have any sympathy for Vere. Just the thought of her child, who she held dearly, being mistreated by the ruthless kidnappers made her heart ache, and she felt miserable.

The more Regina thought about it, the heavier her worries became. After much hesitation, she finally had to ask the police to contact Ayan for help.

When Kian relayed Regina's request to Ayan, it was impossible for Ayan to make time to meet Regina. He simply told Kian, "Go and ask the madam if she wants to go or if Grace wants to go."

Kian immediately contacted Camille. Camille was taken aback because she hadn't thought about meeting Regina again. Grace had already said what needed to be said, so what else could they discuss now?

Camille asked, "Did she suddenly ask to meet?"

Kian explained today's events truthfully, including the mutual animosity between Brody and Regina.

Upon hearing this, Camille raised her eyebrows slightly, and her expression turned cold. She said, "So now she wants us to save her when we meet?"

"It probably isn't because her psychological defense has already collapsed. It's useless for her to let her guard down now. Since you and Miss Armstrong won't pursue it, the police will charge her with intentional harm."

Considering it involves loss of life, the victim's family cannot simply choose not to hold her responsible.

If they won't let them off the hook, why does she insist on meeting?

Camille was puzzled and asked Kian, "What does she want to discuss privately with us?"

"I'm not entirely sure about the specifics, but I guess it's related to her child. Your father has already provided an answer regarding the child's identity. He probably knew a long time ago, but he's been enduring it because Regina has something on him."

Endurance eventually leads to a complete breakdown.

Camille wasn't initially interested, but after hearing Kian's words, she suddenly found the situation intriguing.

She immediately called Grace. Last night, Grace called Ayan, but she didn't know if they had been in touch today.

The call connected quickly, but Grace didn't answer, which naturally surprised and puzzled Camille.

Camille hesitated for a moment, then grabbed her car keys, preparing to go directly to the Armstrong family.

However, she ultimately didn't make it. As soon as she got into the car, Grace called back.

After connecting, Grace's voice sounded a bit muffled. She asked, "Cami, what's wrong? Is something the matter?"

Camille also sensed her unusual tone and instinctively asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Grace hurriedly replied, "I'm fine. Maybe I've just been busy these past few days and feeling a bit tired."

Camille didn't dwell on it and asked her directly, "Do you want to go to the police station? Regina wants to see us."

Grace was shocked, "Why does she want to see us? Is it possible she wants to reconcile?"

Camille said, "No, she can't reconcile with us now. She has already been too candid and admitted to it."

Camille couldn't explain it in just one or two words, but she told Grace, "We need to go to the police station. The police will know the details. I just had a brief conversation with Kian on the phone, and he couldn't explain it clearly. If you want to see her again, we can go together and find out what she wants to say."

After a brief silence of a few seconds, Grace spoke up, "Okay, let's go then. Since there's nothing else to do, should we leave now?"

"Yes, let's leave now. I'll come to pick you up."

"Alright, I'll wait for you."

"Yeah, see you later."

After ending the call, Camille immediately drove to the Armstrong's villa to pick up Grace.

They then went to the police station together. Since there were many media outlets waiting outside the Armstrong family's residence, Camille's arrival was naturally captured on camera. When they saw her leaving with Grace, the reporters, eager to get exclusive information, followed them directly.

Camille didn't notice it initially. It wasn't until they were waiting at a traffic light that a small van suddenly stopped next to their car. Camille could vaguely see someone inside holding up a camera, taking pictures of them. Camille furrowed her brow slightly, and her hand gripping the steering wheel tightened instinctively.

With narrowed eyes and a calm tone, she said to Grace, "Can you please call Ayan for me?"

Grace paused, not understanding her intention, but seeing the seriousness on her face, she instinctively asked, "What's wrong?"Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
