Chapter 293 Choosing To Leave
Chapter 293 Choosing To Leave
Freya reached out her hand.
Just as Freya touched the soft fabric, Daniella covered Freya’s hand with her own.
“Frey, I’m fine.”
Freya’s heart trembled, and she turned to look at the butler standing beside her.
“What happened to Grandma’s leg?”
The butler looked at Daniella with concern and whispered, “She accidentally fell while walking in the garden and injured her leg badly. She needs to rest for six months.”
Tears welled up in Freya’s eyes.
“I didn’t know about this. I-I had no idea.”
Not only did she not know, but she also deliberately avoided everything that had to do with Radley.
But Daniella had been so good to her!
Freya gritted her teeth and suppressed her tears.
“Grandma, I’m sorry.”
“Silly child, I just fell by accident. It has nothing to do with you, so why apologize?” Daniella smiled gently.
She reached out to tidy Freya’s messy hair.
“I just rested for a while, and it doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Freya forced herself to stop crying. She couldn’t cry in front of Daniella on such an important day.
“Grandma, I will come to see you every weekend from now on.”
After regaining her memory, she remembered how good Daniella had been to her.
She truly regarded Daniella as her grandmother, and her feelings for the latter had deepened.
Daniella patted Freya’s back. “If you’re busy, you don’t have to come over so often. Just come and see me when you have time. I’m always at home.”
“Okay.” Freya pursed her lips and forced a smile.
Daniella glared at the butler. “Come on, I just fell, and you made it sound so serious. You scared her. Go and bring some snacks.”
The butler nodded and went into the kitchen.
In the kitchen, a maid brought out a freshly baked cake. “Mr. Walter, Madam Daniella fell a few days ago while waiting for Miss Kaufmann on the steps. Why didn’t you tell her?”
The butler sighed softly. “Madam Daniella didn’t want to worry Miss Kaufmann.”
Freya stayed with Daniella until noon.
During lunchtime, Freya and a maid helped Daniella onto a wheelchair.
Daniella smiled. “I just need a crutch. It’s not that troublesome.”
Freya pushed the wheelchair toward the dining room.
“You still need to take care and rest. You just fell not long ago, right? Wait a while before using the crutch.”
As they were talking and walking toward the dining room, the front door suddenly opened, and Radley walked in with a cold breeze.
Their eyes met.
Freya was taken aback. She didn’t expect Radley to come today, and she didn’t inform him in advance before coming.
When Radley saw Freya in the house, he also paused for a moment.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he looked at the butler. “I came back to get something.”
The butler was puzzled. “Mr. Radley, didn’t you say you were coming back to have a meal. and accompany Madam Daniella?”
Freya lowered her gaze.
Radley chose to leave because he was afraid that she would leave instead.
“Go and get the documents from the drawer in my room,” Radley said coldly.
The butler realized that he had misspoken and hurriedly went upstairs.
The three people were the only ones left in the living room. Daniella looked at Radley and waved her hand with a smile. “What’s the matter? Are you leaving without having a meal. today?”
Radley looked deeply at Freya for a moment, then turned to Daniella. A faint smile appeared. on his cold face.
“Grandma, you should rest well at home. I have something to take care of.”
“It’s so quiet before the New Year.” Daniella sighed. “Your mother went back to her family, and Hannah is going to a classmate’s gathering today. You finally came back, but you’re leaving right away.”
Radley walked up to Daniella’s wheelchair and squatted down to cover her legs with a thin. blanket.
“I’ll come back tonight to accompany you. We can listen to the opera together.”
Daniella looked unhappy and ignored Radley.
Freya pursed her lips and whispered, “Is it urgent? If not, let’s eat before you go.”
Radley stared at Freya, paused for three seconds, and smiled. “Okay.”
The three of them had lunch in the dining room, and Daniella occasionally talked to Freya.
Radley ate quietly, but his gaze was always on Freya.
After finishing lunch, it was time for Daniella’s nap.
Freya sent Daniella back to her room first and returned to the living room after the latter fell asleep. Radley stood in the living room, holding a document that was not important, and was about to leave. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
“Thank you for coming over to visit Grandma.”
Freya smiled lightly. “Grandma has always been nice to me, so it’s only natural for me to visit her. You don’t have to thank me. Also, I should be the one thanking you. I know that you’ve sent people to protect Melissa at Evergreen University,” Freya said hesitantly. This should be her business in the first place.
As Freya’s figure was reflected in Radley’s eyes, there was a warm look in his gaze.
However, when Radley spotted Freya’s tightly clenched fists, he pursed his lips.
“Frey, I have something to attend to at the company, so I’ll be leaving now. Keep Grandma company.”
With the document in his hand, he turned around and headed for the main door.
Freya looked at Radley’s figure, hesitant to speak.
“Radley-”
The man who had already reached the front door turned around.
Freya smiled faintly. “I wish you a happy New Year in advance.”
Radley’s eyes were filled with warmth. “Happy New Year.”
As he walked out of the villa, the cold wind immediately seeped into his skin at his collar.
Radley stood on the steps, looked up at the gray sky, and sighed.
Connor’s car had already left.
Radley had originally planned to stay overnight at the mansion today and let Connor leave after dropping him off.
It was almost the New Year.
Tomorrow would be Connor’s day off, and he was probably already home by now.
Radley walked down the steps with a calm expression.
He took out his phone and made a call.
“Chris, where are you?”
There was a noisy sound on the other end resentful. the phone, and Chris’ voice sounded sad and
“I’m in Vroria. My grandfather forced me to come back for the New Year!”
Radley nodded. “It’s okay now. Have a good New Year.”
After hanging up the phone, Radley called Mikael.
“Where are you?”
“Where else can I be at this time?” Mikael laughed on the other end of the line. “I’m in a bar, drowning my sorrows. It’s a time for family reunion and celebration, and I, a person without a family, am naturally in a bar.”
“Come pick me up. I’m at the Monaghans’ mansion,” Radley said.
