Chapter 28 Hospital Visits
Chapter 28 Hospital Visits
The following day was breezy and sunny.
Diana got up early in the morning to accompany her son to dinner.
Kevin sat at the table and couldn't help but glance up to the second floor, "Where's Lexie?"
By rights, he should address Lexie as his cousin-in-law, but thinking of Alan's attitude towards Lexie, he
couldn't call out for some reason.
"Why are you mentioning her this early in the morning?" Diana put an egg onto the plate in front of
Kevin, "Son, have this egg."
Kevin frowned, "Mom, you should be nice to Lexie, it's not easy for her."
Hearing this, Diana showed an unhappy expression, "You just returned home and you don't know the
situation. Your cousin was originally going to marry Edith, the second young lady of the Mitchell family,
it was Lexie who tricked Edith, and only then did she marry in her place. You want me to be nice to
such a woman? According to me, I should let Alan divorce her and kick her out."
Kevin's frown deepened, surprisingly, there was this whole thing. Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
As they were talking, there was a sound from outside in the living room coming down the stairs, and it
was Lexie getting ready to go out.
Diana immediately pulled long her face, "You are the latest to get up, you are really lazy."
Lexie stood silently and gestured, [Sorry]
"Who can understand what you're saying?" Diana didn't have a good temper, "Where are you going
early in the morning?"
[Hospital] Lexie wrote down in her notebook.
Diana had an obscure look on her face, "You go to the hospital every day, do you know how many
germs you brought back with you?"
She was completely oblivious to the fact that her son was a doctor, and had spent much more time in
the hospital than Lexie, and had been exposed to far more patients and germs.
Seeing Lexie being scolded, Kevin immediately got up from the dining table and interrupted, "Mom, I'm
done eating."
"You are done? Eat some more."
"No," Kevin said smoothly as he picked up his jacket that was resting on the back of his chair, "Lexie, I
need to talk to you about your grandma's surgery, take my car to the hospital."
Lexie nodded.
It was imperative for her to escape from Diana, otherwise, she would be scolded for the whole day
without being able to get out, let alone going to the hospital.
"Hey--"
Diana failed to stop Kevin, and in her son's face, she couldn't go too far with Lexie, so she could only
watch as the two went out the door, one after the other.
"This damned mute! Kevin is haunted, why is he still helping her?"
Marry was setting the table and warned, "Madam, you have to be careful, Mr. Alan is ignoring Lexie,
but Mr. Kevin is good-tempered and kind-hearted, there is no guarantee that this mute will have other
thoughts."
Hearing these words, Diana's heart thudded and she turned her face, "How dare she?! If she dares to
approach my son, she will never stay in the Howard family again!"
But when she thought of that temper of her son, Diana was indeed a bit alarmed.
On the way to the hospital, Kevin pulled out a bag of biscuits from the back seat, "You haven’t had
breakfast, have some, when we get to the hospital, buy some food later at the breakfast shop."
Lexie took the biscuits and wrote in her notebook, [Thank you]
Kevin took one look at it and complimented, "Your writing is beautiful."
Lexie continued to write, [I was thanking you for helping me out just now]
"It's my mom's fault, don't mind it," Kevin held the steering wheel, while apologizing to Lexie "My mom
is a bit stubborn, except for the family, she is more or less mean to others, if you suffer any aggravation
from her, I apologize to you on her behalf."
Lexie examined the man in front of her, his face was handsome, his tone was gentle, different from the
sarcastic Diana, so it was hard to imagine that he was Diana's son.
"By the way, I heard that it was your sister who was originally going to marry my cousin?"
Lexie was slightly stunned and nodded in the end.
"So how did it turn out to be you later?"
Lexie fell silent.
The reason was complicated and could not be explained in one or two sentences, and there was no
way she could talk to Kevin about it.
She couldn't tell him it was because Edith disliked Alan's ugly looks, so she took Edith’s place, because
she wasn't the kind of person who talked badly about people behind their backs.
Seeing her silence, but Kevin was distressed, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that."
[It is oaky] Lexie shook her head, [I'll tell you when I have the chance later]
"Okay," Kevin smiled, "If you are wronged at home in the future and my cousin treats you badly, you
can come and talk to me and I will help you persuade him."
[No need] Lexie waved her hand.
If she let Kevin go to Alan and say something, she couldn't imagine what kind of attitude Alan would
have to face he, and she was afraid it would have to be even worse.
Kevin suddenly felt a little powerless.
This girl beside him could not speak and looked soft and weak, but she was tough, and her gentle eyes
were with force, so that he could not move away his eyes.
Wasn't such a girl more worthy of love than that Edith?
He really didn't know what his cousin was thinking.
Soon after arriving at the hospital, Kevin had to go to the outpatient clinic, so Lexie went straight to her
grandma's ward.
During her pre-operative recuperation, Grandma already looked better than before. When Lexie
arrived, Grandma was chatting with the patient in the next bed.
When she saw Lexie, Grandma smiled brightly, "I told you it was about time Lexie comes to see me,
see, she is here."
Lexie smiled gently and took her Grandma's rough hand, [How are you feeling? Are you okay?]
"I'm fine, but why have you lost so much weight? Is it because you're worried about me, so you haven't
eaten properly? Or is Peter not good to you?"
Grandma had never been very kind to Peter.
[No, grandma, I'm good these days.]
"Good, by the way, Lexie, is the surgery very expensive? I don't think I have any problem, I think I can
be discharged from the hospital tomorrow."
[No] Lexie squeezed her grandma's hand with a serious face, [The surgery must be done, you don't
have to worry about the money, it has been solved.]
"How come?"
Lexie pursed her lips, [My Dad paid it.]
Grandma looked at Lexie suspiciously, "Really?"
Lexie nodded solemnly.
In order to reassure grandma, she can only say so, if grandma knew that she married to the Howard
family for her medical expenses, grandma must refuse to operate.
Sure enough, Grandma sighed in relief, "Peter still has some conscience, but I don't think he really
wants to help us, but he's just trying to figure out our family's prescription."
Prescription?
Lexie faintly stared, [What prescription?]
Grandma looked around and lowered her voice and said, "I never told you before, Peter took you back
to the Mitchell family in the first place, it was for our family's prescription, that prescription ......"
"Lexie--"
A familiar voice suddenly came from the doorway, interrupting Grandma's words.
