Chapter 263

Chapter 263

Sonia was stunned momentarily before smiling. “Peach is quite cute.”

Candice nodded slightly. “She likes you quite a bit too. She thinks you’re gentle and that you bring her

food too.” She paused for a moment before continuing. “I never thought that you had such a good

relationship with her.”

Her words were strongly questioning. Candice kept her gaze fixed on Sonia, and as a flash of panic

flitted across Sonia’s face, she caught it.

Candice’s gaze darkened.

Sonia leaned by Alex’s side as she bit the corner of her lip. She raised her eyes, and frowned, as if not

quite understanding what Candice meant. “Candice, do you not like me interacting with your family?”

She pursed her lips. “I just think that Mrs. Dawson and Peach are a little pitiful, Peach is so young and

yet she has all these kinds of troubles and she doesn’t even have a reliable person to watch over her,

so I just decided to give her a little more care.”

Candice stared at her without moving. Sonia was insinuating that she did not carry out her duties as an

older sister. If she was then of course Peach and Yvonne would have someone reliable by their side

and they wouldn’t need an outsider to help watch over them.

She could only nod. “You indeed do care about them. Those who are not in the know would think that

you are Yvonne’s daughter. I’m ashamed of myself for this.”

Sonia’s eyelashes fluttered as she raised them and a hint of panic could be seen in the bottom of her

eyes. She appeared like a harmless little lotus, and compared to the cold aloof aura that Candice gave

off, she appeared even more innocent.

She looked at Candice and smiled a little forcefully. “Candice, don’t say something in anger. If your

do mind this, I will just stop seeing Peach in the future. I

just that I’ve always wanted a younger sister, so when I see Peach in such a situation, I feel a little

heartache, that’s all.” Sonia sighed, shaking her head. “But, Candice, no matter how busy you are, no

matter how many complaints you have, Peach is innocent. How could she possibly know anything at

such a young age?”

Candice raised her eyebrow as she looked at Sonia in mild amusement. She hadn’t even said anything

and Sonia was throwing these words around, as if she was heartless and had tortured Peach. She was

really amazing at her art. No wonder she could deceive Yvonne and Ivor, those

two fools.

Candice clenched her hands slightly hidden in her sleeve. She felt her heart turning colder by the

moment. She lowered her gaze for a moment before looking up again. She had wanted to look at

Sonia, but she met a pair of dark eyes instead.

Alex tapped lightly on the table with his knuckles. He twitched his eyebrows slightly and said in a calm

tone. “It’s boring to beat around the bush, how meaningless to speak in riddles.” He looked up coldly,

and scanned Candice again. “Why don’t you just say it clearly?

Candice looked at him. “When I went to see Peach last night, she said that Sonia had gone to see

them several times. I was just asking.”

Sonia lowered her head and said nothing, but her eye rims reddened as she turned her face away. as if

she had been greatly aggrieved.

Alex’s expression did not change. He was silent for a moment and then said slowly. “Whether it is just a

question, or whether it has ulterior motives, you know best.”

Candice felt her breath hitch. She looked at Alex and met his gaze.

Alex’s expression had a subtle inexplicable emotion hidden within. He tapped the table again.” Stop

speculating with your messy methods and ideas, they look ridiculous.”© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
